I know Adam quite well. Was speaking to him yesterday. He is very excited about working with the young mids coming through. The great thing about Ads is he had to do it the hard way to get into the AFL and he kept overcoming every hurdle. His work rate and drive was always there. He will be great for us.
Also working under Mick Barlow, who had to do the same thing.

Have any of the line coaches ie Clarke, Patch or Adcock been designated the senior assistant?

Not yet. Why is why I'm hoping we've got someone in mind that hasn't been announced yet.

Aberfeldie will have a new senior coach in 2023 as Adam Marcon prepares for another stint in the AFL system.
The Essendon District Football League powerhouse announced on Tuesday that Marcon had resigned as the club’s coach as he prepares for a full-time role in the AFL.
Marcon had guided Abers for the last two seasons including to a grand final appearance in his first season in charge, only to see his side beaten in extra time by Strathmore.
He has spent time with Richmond as an AFLW assistant coach this year after the completion of the EDFL season.
“It is an incredible opportunity for Adam and recognition of his coaching, player development and communication skills since becoming head coach at Aberfeldie in 2022,” Aberfeldie senior football president Sean Howard said in a statement.
“Many of us expected this opportunity to arise due to the quality of person Adam is, although perhaps not this quickly.
“The Aberfeldie Sports Club prides itself on creating an environment which enables people to grow and succeed.
“We celebrate when our players and coaches are selected for higher honours and always want the best for our people.”
In his statement, Howard confirmed Clay Illman had been appointed the interim coach of the club with pre-season training set to start in the coming weeks.
Illman had been an assistant to Marcon.
“The club will have a further update in coming weeks (with) reference to the 2024 coaching panel,” Howard said.

Richmond haven’t confirmed whether Marcon would be signing on as an assistant coach at the club for next season although its thought that’s where he will end up.
He played two AFL games for the Tigers during his one season with the club in 2016.
Aberfeldie missed the finals in 2023 after a season hampered by injury.

Sounds like the reporter has no idea and making the tenuous link with the tiges aflw programme. I'll take 18onmyback at his word:

and it was glorious!

I don't anything about Marcon so this is nothing personal against him, but why would we hire an EDFL coach to oversee our midfield at the highest level? There was no one qualified already in the AFL? or ex-AFL? or even VFL like Barlow?

Midfield development under the watchful eye of Micky Barlow. We’ve obviously been sufficiently impressed with what he’s produced at Aberfeldie and he must have been equally impressive in interviews.

Clarko has a history of giving blokes like this a go. I’d be willing to back him in.

Luke Bevreridge was an Ammos coach until
Malthouse appointed him a development coach in 2010, they then won the flag, then he moved to Hawthorn under Clarko and the rest is history.

Plenty of gun coaches kicking around in the country and metro leagues. Often some of them have teaching or development backgrounds.

On the flipside there are plenty of ex AFL players in the coaching ranks at AFL level that really don't deserve to be there.

how about Scurry once i tamed him...

Couldn't someone, anyone, in our media department have used Microsoft Paint to put Blue and White stripes on him?

They could have just used his Linkedin photo rather than another clubs.

Adam Marcon = The Plays the Mamba
