No words.Just listened to her on the Danny Boyd podcast. Said they re-signed bevo due to his relationship with the players and not KPIs on wins/ losses. Don’t think we are a serious club sometimes

I listened too, and got nothing but corporate key words from her lips, quite uninspiring. The fact they have such a strong relationship with the coach is always the players getting a game and the ones that aren’t or aren’t playing in their preferred position dislike him. This is what happens at every football club across time.Just listened to her on the Danny Boyd podcast. Said they re-signed bevo due to his relationship with the players and not KPIs on wins/ losses. Huge issue if this is true. This is the AFL, not local footy.
There is a real lack of ambition at the club and it’s sad. Everyone is just happy enough that we’re not a basket case and that others are in a worse position than us. No ambition to actually be contenders

Relationships should always come into consideration when re-signing a coach but not going by any performance metrics is insanity.
She’d be the perfect person to work for if you want to coast by - supportive as long as you have the relationship. But there doesn’t seem to be any accountability. Couldn’t listen another minute after she gave that answer about any blow back from re-signing him mid year. Supportive environments are great, but there is a time to be ruthless too if you want success. Unfortunately we are going to be in this spot for at least two more years when I can see Bevo KWW and Bains all leaving together. She was so uninspiring - had nothing to say but corporate jargon.

No current season stats available
More important than simply looking at the player list, our assistant coaching group needs to be strengthened and have proper responsibility and accountability for their roles.Everyone was happy with the club re signing Bevo mid season when we were winning. We've stumbled (again) late in the year, but blaming the administration is not the answer.
We are now a professional, strategic and profitable football club and Peter Gordon, Bains, Bevo, KWW, Sam Power etc need to take all of the credit for that.
Our list is in good shape, but we do need an adjustment to our game style and to add some hard nosed defenders to our list. Wilke would be first choice but would cost overs and highly unlikely to leave Saints. Vlaustin would be my next choice. Silvagni would be nice, but not going to worry too much if we miss him. I would be looking at the best state league FB in the 22 - 25 year old range who is 195 - 200cm and 95kg rather than go for May, Lever, Frost, Howard types.
JOD is a third tall, Lobb also plays the intercept role. Vlaustin, Cleary (like this guy) and state league FB as the lock down defenders. Maybe move Williams back to defense permanently and have Dale, Bramble, Jacques, JJ as the runners / distributors. Buss not ready. We defend way too high, so this needs to be adjusted.

No words.
What if it was no bevo, no bont?
?????Thanks for everything Marcus. But I’m not accepting my club being held over a barrell. That’s not leadership.
?????
Yes you can. He is probably the one player in the league who can have that influence.Purely hypothetical mate. I don’t think it’s the case at all.
If Bont said re sign Bevo or I’m gone, I’m saying bye bye.
You can’t have a player with that amount of power, I’m sorry.

Who said ultimatum? Could've simply been that if Bevo was moved on that Bont would've been more likely to accept Collingwood's inevitable big money offer.I don’t like ultimatums. Theres better ways of dealing with things (again this is all hypothetical).
If he’s the only player in the league with that type of influence as you say, then to me that suggests we are a weak club at the top.

We're paying him peanuts compared to what he'd be worth on the free market. Part of that has to do with his relationship with the coach.
Bont is 29, if he sees the coach depart this late into his career then its pretty clear we're not going to contend immediately amid the instability under a new coach, then he may as well take a punt at another finals club.
If Bont somehow ended up leaving then we may as well pack up shop because that would be the biggest failure in the clubs history.
A tendency!!!!!!!I don't think we're too far off but that could just be me.
The board has a tendency to catastrophise.
