If it was me and ignoring Peatling’s suspension;

Out
Tex - rest and mini-preseason, see you in 6-8 weeks.
Smith - impact player, provided nothing but freebie kick ins long and right. Butts could have done that. Embarrassing sub effort, probably the worst in club history.
Pedlar - conditions made for him. 65% TOG isn’t big, but it’s got to bring more than 3 possessions. Loved this kid early and thought we had a hard nosed, fast mid, but it’s nearly time for the red pen.

In
Dowling - half forward/wing/support mid.
Draper - mid/fwd
Edwards - sub

Actual
Out - Pedlar
In - Murphy or Draper
Sub - Smith

Fresh legs, playing in an area with lots of ball to be won, possessions won, ONE. The only thing he was first to was the goal square during nearly all of Lions final quarter scoring attempt chains.

He was smart and wore.long sleeves. People thought he was everywhere but really didn't do anything. I think people think he is going better than he really is but still probably the least of our problems

They nail 2 of those goals and his ‘impact’ would be a crucial factor. He’s in our top few problems if we were to continue to allow that kind of performance.

In: Draper/Dowling or Edwards if today goes well against South. I'd like to see him in for a bit of "free hit" game.

Out: Peatling, perhaps Butts? But he releases Worrell a bit to intercept mark.

Milera, Laird, MM, Smith and Hinge should be enough for their smaller forward line. Worrell and Keane to be matched up on Gunston and Chol.

Nobody is expecting Hawks in Tassie to be anything but a loss. Make no mistake, we can win this but Hawks play down there very well.

I'm glad they beat the bulldogs to take the pressure off, the Dogs were awful in attack without Weightman and Darcy to provide some class and marking power. Lobb can't mark, Naughton can't mark but Thilthorpe and Tex can.

10-4 at the break will be huge and put us in the drivers seat for top 4 position. 16-7 and 135% would get 4th this year easy. 15-8 might even squeeze us in.

And stopped Rayner who was murdering us…

Out : Smith, Tex

Who knows who comes in…

So pleasantly surprised on Milera’s game he was very good.

Berry shows glimpses but not 100% locked in , Pedlar building does some very good things.
Pedlar got 3 possessions. Managed a couple of good tackles and 1%ers, but 3 possessions means dropped surely.

Good god, what game did you watch? Hinge had 8 tackles last night. Threw himself around will nilly. He was far from our worst last night.
His pressure acts numbers equalled the best player from Brisbane and we still had Rankine with 24, Dawson with 33 (and 11 tackles) and Soligo with 35 (and 13 tackles) ahead of him.

A quarter of kick-outs long and to the right is enough to hold your spot?
When you take into account what he did the previous week and playing his role in the game last night, I don't see why he'd go?

Was this play of his that stood out for me. Along with the tackle on the wing on Rayner that let us go into our 50 once more.

ANB might need a week off? Didn't train this week and struggled during the game.

Peatling and ANB out
Draper and Taylor in
Smith stays sub
I've been a Smithers knocker for a few years now, but I feel he isn't a horrible sub option.
I was impressed just then looking at his stats after coming on at 3qt... 8 touches, 370m gained....then I realized he just took all 8 kick-ins and went long :tearsofjoy:

Whether Tex makes it to 300 games shouldn't come into the equation. He was horrible last night and last week. Looks injured and cooked. Running like a 50 year old. Play Curtin more up forward and bring in one of Dowling, Edwards or Nankervis and play one of them or Hinge on the wing. Would prefer Smith in over Laird as Smith's extra height is more beneficial. If Smith's body isn't up to it, bring in Edwards or Nankervis at half back. We will likely need to play Dawson more midfield with Peatling out. If ANB is injured, play Rankine full time forward and Pedlar in the ANB role. One of Taylor, Edwards or Dowling will come in for Peatling. Nicks needs to stop playing cooked and injured players. Needs,to start rotating players in games against bottom 6 teams as well to keep the squad fresh for finals. The experienced players were the ones making errors.

Out
Peatling susp Walker Laird Smith?(if body not up to it)

In
Edwards Nankervis Dowling Draper (sub)

Disagree on Curtin. Can't move him now.
Hinge on a wing with Cumming moving back worth a try.
