Can you imagine VB playing on Robbie Gray?!
Perhaps it's what we need to finally prove to all and sundry that he isn't up to it anymore.

VB on Gray, D-Mac on Wingard.

Yeah, nah. Seen enough of Shaw to know that he's a liability. If Shaw is the answer, then you're asking the wrong question.

I want an honest answer here....how many times have you seen Shaw play post his corrective surgery on his leg that required the removal of a fist size piece of scar tissue/bone??

Almost everyone that has seen him play LIVE since the surgery has commented on how much his kicking has improved and how well he's played on each occasion.

Shaw had half a game in total in the NAB cup.

I have seen him play 2 full SANFL games and he has been outstanding really. Excellent disposal as well which always was his weakness. Definitely wouldn't object to his inclusion. Has pace, size and agility over Cheney.
Whereas Cheney is actually a footballer, with modest talent and ability to play the game. Would rather have a footballer over an athlete any day of the week.

Haven't seen him in the SANFL, obviously. Seen pretty much every game he's played at AFL level, including the MMC games shown on Foxtel.

We got beat because we played away and Nth Melbourne ruck and KPF dominated. We will not encounter those problems against Port. I wouldn't expect many changes unless forced.

However i would be looking at maybe bringing experience in, if we have it. Otten would be good if fit.

So Talia only plays well with Hartigan ....LMAO :p
He certainly played better with Hartigan in the team as a general rule, but that would require watching the game with your eyes... ;)

I was talking specifically since the corrective surgery, you must have missed that yeah?

He's almost at 300, I can't see them doing anything to put that in jeopardy. We talked about giving Thommo a breather last year and that never happened.

Should've though, but Campo's not the type to look any further ahead than this week. He's a full convert to the AFC week to week football dept culture. Thommo is highly likely to be rested.

All he sees is young shiny toys that shouldnt be played with
Shaw is not a young shiny toy. He turns 25 next week and has been on our list for 6 years (this is his 7th). In that time he's played just 24 AFL games and never looked like becoming one of the best 30 players on our list - let alone best 22.

It really wasn't. That's just silly. 20+ is a good game for him. 13-18 is average. 0-12 is a poor game.
So in 2015 he played 4 good games, 8 poor games and 8 average games? 80% of his games are poor or average. How can we keep justifying his selection?

Not talking Shaw. I agree he is not the answer, would much prefer Hartigan.
More talking vB and mackay. Accepting a not too bad game is not going to get us anywhere.

Maybe - we should have beaten a top four side yesterday. We had a ridiculous amount of chances to ice that game. The squad wasn't far wrong - personally, I agree with what you're saying about McGovern as I think we were too tall at one end and too short at the other. Clearance mids - we couldn't get M Crouch involved at enough contests (attended half his usual Centre bounces, according to CD) so adding another may not have helped much.

If we wanted him at more contests then we should have told him to get off the pine. Mrouch TOG was only 69%, they mustn't think his fitness will hold out at his intensity. Hopefully that will build throughout the year because we need him to get up to the 85% level of most seasoned mids. Still his first full preseason, but with Danger gone I felt we should have erred on the side of caution with our stoppage power.

Want to see what influence VB and Mackay have on games? Here are there disposal counts compared to our senior midfielders (Sloane, Thompson, Douglas, and I've also included M. Crouch because he's now crucial) over the past season

Lines of best fit are linear. Mackay and VB clearly below the pack

In fact here's the graph with even more midfield players: Smith, Sloane, Lynch, Laird, Henderson, Thompson, M. Crouch, Douglas and of course VB and Mackay
