Couldn't be more different. One was in a marking contest and the push came during the contest and in the field of play - the issue was the fence's proximity to the boundary line. Naturally they fixed it that same week. The Mansell bump was absolutely fine and happens frequently in most games - players getting bumped out of play. Lalor probably wishes he bumped the Cats player instead of tackling him... he'd still be playing.
Rubbish, Dunkley senior was a campaigner , pushed richo into the fence

Harley would be a hypocrite to leave WC now considering his sledge to JHF.
Yeah but let’s be honest footy players as a general rule aren’t the smartest cookies and Ried doesn’t seem like an exception

Taranto, Hopper and Prestia all in the votes. That's when you know Essendon's midfield is horrible.

Richmond v Essendon

10 Tim Taranto RICH
4 Jacob Hopper RICH
4 Archie Roberts ESS
3 Nick Vlastuin RICH
3 Jayden Short RICH
2 Zach Merrett ESS
2 Jordan Ridley ESS
1 Tom Brown RICH
1 Dion Prestia RICH
Didn’t we lose the clearance count

Is it wrong of me to say I don't want us to try and get Harley Reid? I'm no expert by any stretch but I'm just not seeing what others are raving about. He looks far too overweight to me and he seems a bit of a smarty too. I'd prefer to look elsewhere.
I'm with you on this. We can and will do better going back to the draft. I can see a club like Essendon making a huge play for Harley Reid. What could possibly go wrong. 🤔

Very happy to have a win and see some joy on our boys faces. Coaches, staff and us supporters have been doing it tough with some regular beltings where we've sifted through the wreckage to find moments of joy.
Yes, the game wasn't high quality...so what? The media focus on this, almost exclusively, is disappointing, but not surprising. The game quality got too big a run on here too.
Miller is playing some great footy down back and I am continually surprised at the quality of his field kicking at times. That pass to Sims was outstanding.
Young? Complete shock at his comeback game. An unexpected gem that just deepens the quality and depth of our tall defender stocks.
Tresize. Great left boot. Had an significant impact when he came on. We might have one here.
Hotton. Can't add to what's been said. Footy IQ plus talent. Gold.
Jonty. Climbed another step.
Trainor. Great. Get rid of the ducking.
Banks, Brown. Linear progression. Cool customers.

Kosi. Did his job. Would suggest had similar impact as Lynch. Yes a couple of errors.
MRJ. Frustratingly close to becoming a weapon. That speed out of congestion is gold.
Sonsie. I could see he was trying (maybe too hard) to hit the kicks to advantage. All in his head. He thinks too much and needs the confidence to kick in. Maybe it won't happen?

Ball movement/game plan. I sit behind the goals and you can see what's ahead of the ball carrier. They are clearly being taught to not blaze away to an outnumber. Tried to pick thru with handball many times, often unsuccessful. Difference between us and the top sides is the support running to provide an outlet. Cats/Pies/Lions always seem to have one right there when needed. It will come for us but will take time.

All in all a fun day. Couple of $12 Great Northern mid strength (waste of time).
Will be good to see Young, Hotton, Tresize, Jonty etc in the next couple of weeks against WCE but more importantly, Pies etc.

Alger and Armstrong a chance?

I already knew Kozi was shit before his performance against Essendon.
It still doesn't change my opinion that he is the best structural option in the absence of Lynch & Mykelti.
Has enough body size and experience to take a decent defender and some unneeded pressure off Faull and Sims/Armstrong.
And I'm less worried about interrupting his development as a backman as I am with the idea of throwing Miller, Young, Balta, Blight or Gibcus forward.
If Gray was available, I'd be developing him as a forward/back swingman, but again he would be just another baby if we played him forward with Faull & Sims.

Taj Hotton = Shedda mark 2.. upgrades already evident.

Just watched replay of 4th quarter and this kid is every bit as good as Nic D. He's already a step ahead of everybody and that was his first game!

Add Trainor Lalor Brown Campbell Banks Miller Young Balta - they all look like premiership material and there's real potential with Faull Trezise Gibcus Macauliff Ross (tagging midfielder) MRJ Armstrong Ralphsmith Lefau Clarke Green Alger Sims Mansell Blight Smilie ...

That's 8 young guns and 16 potentials. And two very high draft picks this year.

Not even mentioning the senior brigade but if the young brigade come on really well in the next two seasons then I wouldn't write any of them off future finals either.

The skeptic in me knows the CFL determined that Harley had no case to answer bc WC play us next
It's absolute BS. Let's remember, Lynch got 5 weeks....5....purely because what he did was a bad look for the game, remembering Butts was not injured.

Now Harley literally kicks someone which is a shocking and cowardly act and he gets a fine.

Christian and the CFL are just muppets.

Literally have more premierships than you, freo and saints combined. Plus we were never found guilty of drug use. You scraped a win against a full vfl side, with your best team, in what’s now considered one of the worst games ever played. I wouldn’t be too optimistic for your “future”.
It took a Richmond person to get you 4 flags, your own gave you a season off for drug use.

Agree. But often this sort of thing falls apart.

Right here right now the RFC has set up a rebuild with a strong cohort of older mature leaders and mentors, with a solid group of draftees. We have drafted a potential quality spine (possibly A graders on all lines), elite midfielders, and X factor players, with skilled ball users behind the ball.

I think this is a different rebuild than previous attempts (by all clubs) because of how we have systematically structured it. And of course, we will be able to draft in more top end talent and FA/trade in to fill holes or get that elite guy.

But, expecting it all to go well is usually too much.

However, if we get a good hit rate we'll have a top end defence, spine and good forward line, with a solid to very good midfield around 2028. If we do this well, and get lucky, the team will suddenly go from young developing to contention. Typically it's like North, a good core with major holes. Teams take years to fill the holes and then contend. If we don't have those holes then .... we'll see.

I think the WC will be harder than the Dons to beat. But we do traditionally travel well to the WC.... So a sneaky chance... just quietly 🤫

i also said a lot of positives which you failed to notice . Looks like you like living at the bottom end of the ladder.
I dont. better get saints jumper out for a spin. You dont strike me as a tiger fan.
Brother, no one likes it at the bottom end of the ladder. Most of us accept it's a part of developing a young squad. All teams go through it. I don't think it will be as long for us, based on our recruiting TBH.
I think many of us look for the small steps in improvement, wins are a bonus. Especially when the "experts" tipped us for NO wins. Also with 3 Premierships to show for it. I for one am prepared to be patient. I have worked closely with elite athletes & have an understanding of how much work it takes to grow & develop....I am still very proud to be Richmond with all the things we do off field as well. Our club is a leader off field. just my 2 cents worth....

Only just getting around to watching the game, but of course this is the first thing I couldn't pass up GIF'ing :)

Taj Hotton's first AFL goal

It's hypnotic ..... thanks for posting!! 😃
