Tony Lockett broke the goal kicking record in this game, beating club legend Nuts Coventry. Wonderful game, between my two favourite teams, Lockett bagged 9, and the Kelly v Buckley duel was a brilliant one, with Kelly dominating the start and Bucks the end. My favourite Swans player used to be Lockett, and since then I've cherished a soft spot for them. But my question is, did any Pies fans on here go to the game??? Did anyone try to get to it? And if you have, what are your memories of the game?

One of those sit down and watch it type of game. Rocca bought us back in it to a respectable thrashing (if possible). Buckley dominated, but Lockett had a day out. Fitting that it was done against Collingwood too could be a controversial statement, but I think it's fair enough.

it was even more heart breaking than it should have been because lockett had agreed to sign with the pies until wayne richardson and some board members kyboshed the deal

Wasn't Presti on him? I dont no why I think that but for some reason I do

IIRC Mal Michael was playing on him when he passed the record. Remember Mal trailing about 5 metres behind when Lockett took the mark in the forward pocket.

Also remember that we were wearing our alternate jumper for the game. The one with the emblem in the middle of the chest.

Yeah, you're right. I;ve got the Plugger 1300 video:thumbsu:

Plugger loved playing against us at the SCG.

Going back a few years eariler I think it was Round 22 1995. We needed to beat Sydney at the SCG to make the finals. I went up to Sydney on a bus from Vic Park with a mate (Sydney fan).

Plugger kicked about 6 in the second half, playing on a hapless Craig Kelly I think and knocked us out of finals contention (IIRC it meant the Bears got into the first finals series).

Let's just say it was a long bus ride home.

Mal Michael played on him but according to the team sheets Anthony Rocca was named to play on him.
