Missing a LOT of senior players, dons at their pepped up best.

Positives - vlastuin (cannot believe how lucky we were to get him)

Negatives
Nahas, grigg, dustys kicking for goal, lids, Vick, lack of imagination and attacking flair.

Out - nahas, white, vickery, mcguiane, lonergan
In - arnott, griff, Ellis, a. Edwards, dea.

Pretty ordinary ins except for Ellis, maybe griff, but the outs have been pi$$ poor for a few weeks now.

Lonergan was never meant to be playing this early in the season is my guess. We are having a horrible run with injury and he is only non so we are not having to throw kids in at the deep end.

Still missing conca, knights, tuck and its showing at the moment.

C'mon man calm down
There was a game plan put in place, clear as day and it failed. We beat shit and can't compete with well drilled sides. Can you honestly say we've improved from last year?

Lonergan had second most amount of CPs for Richmond, equal most amount of tackles, third most clearances. It wasn't that bad a game up until his brain fade at the end. However, that is his biggest problem. I have never seen another player get pinged for holding the ball more than Lonergan. Not the quickest decision maker going around.

Considering it is his first game for Richmond, and he's coming off a recent injury, wasn't too bad of a game.
Fantastic post, if he didn't make that mistake by playing on late no one would be even saying anything, all things considering he was fine.

Yes because our backline players won their one on ones then had to chip it around because some idiot thought it was a better idea than attacking their throat.

Also why was Watson not worn like a glove he was literally the 30 point difference. I also think Stephenson is a better center bounce ruckman than Maric.
The midfield getting shut down was a symptom of the Bombers pressure and push up, much like the Pies did, and our blokes not running hard enough like they did in the 2nd quarter against Carlton.

As for Watson, the guy is a freak, unless he's got pneumonia, he'll always play well, and there is nothing Dimma, Scott, Worsfold, or Longmire will ever be able to about it. He's simply too good.

The depth only looks bad because of injuries, we are having a really bad run. Knights, Conca, Ellis, Petterd, Grimes and Tuck. All required players we desperately need, they are a huge difference to playing nahas, lonergan and white just to name a few. All those injured players named would be in our best fielded team, missing 6 important players is a big difference.

Shedwards, Cotchin, Morris had really bad games by there standards, as did deledio even though his DE% was well above the other three mentioned. When those players are on song, the team sings. Jack was beaten and it's time he got more support from a real forward and an option for our mids to deliver to in Aaron Edwards.

As bad as things are going for us, the entire team effort tonight was disgraceful.

This thread will go completely nuts no doubt, BUT... we got absolutely smashed tonight, our worst performance for the year, but I keep looking at the score and see it's only 29 points. I confirms for me, we're a top 6 to 8 side, but still a couple of years of being a top 4 side.

Others will want 20 players sacked, and Dimma sacked etc etc etc, but you guys need to realise we're still two years off being a top 4 side.

Very measured, Turtle. For mine, I think it showed we're still a long away from top 4, possibly longer than 2 years. I saw a whole lot not to like tonight. As previously stated Nahas and Lonergan not up to it.

With Hawthorn, Swans, Geelong, Freo, West Coast and Collingwood in front of them I think Essendon are a top 6 - 8 side. We on the other hand are a 9th - 11th side.
Reality sucks.
4th year coach - not getting the results required.
I don't think you're giving enough credit to the Bombers. Next week in Sydney will tell us a lot of course.

As for the bolded bit, I give you Bomber Thomson.

This game has proved we are not good enough to match it with the top teams like Geelong, Collingwood and Essendon. We were beaten physically and Essendon's skills were too good. We were beaten in the midfield and our forward line did not work. I don't know why we bothered with the chip to chip kicking, it was always going to cause problems. Hardwick should of scrapped that tactic as soon as he could see it wasn't working, instead of waiting until the last quarter. We were lucky our backline held together us best they could and held Essendon to 29 points.

Our defence didn't do a bad job with all the pressure that was applied. It could of been a lot worse. Vlastuin also did well for such a young player. King and Edwards tried hard to spark the team. Cotchin and Martin played well up forward.

Changes need to be made after that effort. We need to try something different, we don't have anything to lose against West Coast.

Out: McGuane, Nahas, Lonergan

In: A. Edwards, Arnot, Helbig (If fit)

...but it was a monumental stuff up!
Agree, it wasn't,t lonergans fault that we lost, nor Nahas, not Batch...it was pretty much a poor team effort that was clearly out coached...that's the reality of the situation unfortunately

Changes

Out: Maric, Nahas, Lonergan, Vickery

In: Stephenson, Mcbean, Ellis if available or Arnott, AARON EDWARDS

cheer up fellas i didn't think you guys played that badly and you have a few good players on the up

2-3 years before your mob can make 8 imo

VFL results:
Best Players: M. McDONOUGH, M. Arnot, T. Elton, M. Dea, S. Verrier, L. McBean
We are better off with 21 men than having Nahas.
McGuane it has been a great ride buy McBean's time has arrived.
Not sure why the hate for Lonergan tried hard all night more than I can say for some. If Conca is fit then he comes straight in for White.
