Autopsy Round 9 vs Essendon plus changes

Rancy is like that smurf that walks around with the mirror in his hand - always checking his hair.

I'm an avid Tiges follower ... I'm savage on Cotch at the moment.

If he thinks the Tiges are a walk up start for finals ... He's kidding himself.
That comment he made when he was addressing the players, something along the lines of "thanks for the old guys for sticking around" was absolute pure arrogance.

Cotch, stuff the media .. Worry about that 2012 form.
Cotch might be still getting possessions ... But they are crap ones, no bearing on the game

Your posts are disgusting.

Would love to see McBean get pulverised against Nic Nat and Cox....
Couldn't agree more - McBean is not ready physically, nowhere near it! Very promising sure, but he's way skinnier than Ty was back in 2009. He's a 2014-15 prospect.

Out: Nahas, Lonergan, McGuane, Grigg
In: Elton, Arnott, McDonough, Dea

cheer up fellas i didn't think you guys played that badly and you have a few good players on the up

2-3 years before your mob can make 8 imo
That's ridiculous.
Better than 50/50 chance of making it next year.
May even scrape in this year.

Can't help but feel they'll need to go 6-4 to have a decent shot at it.
Of course that means beat WC at Subi.
Not easy when you're playing the umps as well.

Positives:
We only lost by 5 goals- should have been 10.
Ellis and Conca will be back soon. (Says a lot that two kids were so badly missed)

Negatives:
Wow talk about trying to stop the bleeding early. 5 minutes into the second quarter you could tell we were never going to win. Bad coaching/ terrible gameplan by Dimma and co.
Why didnt Jackson go to Watson? Jackson has taken some big scalps this year and he has the pace to go with Watson. Instead we play him on the wing and watch him hit essendon players lace out.
Why didnt we send ANYONE to Stanton... This hang out destroyed us... AGAIN.
Why did we sub off Vickery? When your struggling to get the ball past the midfield surely you keep your tallest forward on the ground as a target... Na lets just keep Nahas out there and watch him fall over another 5 times.
We have too many players that can't step up when the heats on.
It looked like I was watching the Terry Wallace coached richmond last night.

I don't care what anyone says. We have gone backwards since last year, we looked so much better last year, we moved the ball quicker, our disposal was better. What has happened?

Ins: Ellis - Conca - Petterd (as a forward, we need something different down there)
Outs: Nahas - Foley - Lonergan

Foley was rushed back because of our lack of inside mids. With Conca coming back into the side send him back to Coburg to work on he's fitness and find the footy. Averaging 4 kicks the last two weeks, not good enough for someone who is spending majority of the game in the midfield.

IN:Dea,Griffiths,Arnot,Big O,Edwards.
OUT:Mcguane,Vickery,Grigg,Nahas,King.

Morris,Rance,Newman
Batch,Chaplin,Houli
Dea,Deledio,Vlas
S.Edwards,Griffiths,Martin
A.Edwards,Jack,Foley
Maric,Jackson,Cotch
Lonergan,Big O,Arnot,Sub[White]

fact of the matter is we have to bring Big O in and help Maric against Cox and Nic Nat,Now unless we want to play a small fwd line to do this we have to sacrafice a small which i know on subi its a big ask,But the way i see it if our mids can't get hold of the ball it won't matter,At the very least the Big O will give you a contest unlike Vickery.Griff gets a gig for reasons unknown.lol other than Elton and Mcbean are to young and Maric and Big O are not resting types in the fwd line.[Play them off the bench]

The good
- we were lucky to only go down by 29

The bad
- lids potentially doing something to his knee
- jack for his imaginary push

The ugly
- run and spread
- centre clearance work
- stoppage work
- team mate awareness
- kicking to advantage
- defensive pressure
- linking up
Seriously, this is what I just dont get. Last season, most of those were one of our strengths but now, as you have rightly pointed out, we are bloody awful in those areas. What the hell has happened- change of line coaches, gameplan?????????????????????? Our defence has gotten better but our offensive play and ball movement is just awful. Forward 50 entry strategy has not improved and needs some serious work, bomb it to talls is clearly not the go

I think he was hit in the face and looking groggy.

Nahas needs to go! Soft as butter, makes terrible desicions and can't make a tackle stick. The sad thing is...who can replace him? We need to target small towards in the trade/draft. Especially with king being 28-29

It's the easiest thing to do in the world but coaches continually fail to do it and wonder why their careers run short. The Geelong coach is doing an amazing job of it which is why he'll probably be coach for the next 10-20 years.

It it what I call the coming in from under instead of over the top theory.

It is quite simple instead of expecting to pick up guns from other teams you get all your players by playing young players and developing them. Instead of bringing players older than your core in (over the top) you bring in players younger (under) and develop them. That way your list stays strong forever and you only miss finals every now and again. It's so ******* easy!

Like GWS?
Watch for their next move.

i value your post, but must disagree respectfully of course. i can see where you are coming from

i think we should draft players who are skillful and can play on the ball. should the need arise for a SF, put a midfielder there.

Toast:
Our back line in particular Rance and Chaplin were good given the amount of ball that came into our D50. 59 I50 for the Bombers for only 26 scoring shots showed that they weren't beaten on the night. We lost by 5 goals missing 6 of our best 22(with a number of others well held) while the Bombers were at pretty much full strength. Vlastuin showing the work rate that many others need to achieve if we are going to go anywhere. His chase down last night to get Jetta was something that not man others in the team would have done and I hope that Hardwick shows that to some of our 'stars' as the type of defensive work they need to do when not in possession.

Roast:
Work rate last night was awful, when we had the ball in our D50, where the hell was our run and spread to give us options. Too often our guys would look to switch the ball and open the Bombers up but our midfielders/forwards were too slow to push across and give us the easy out. This forced us to once again switch and again our players were too slow to react and it allowed the Bombers to once again set up and stifle our ball movement.

If Deledio wants to be a midfielder then he really needs to learn how to impact games regardless of whether he is tagged. The opposition now know that if they get someone to stick close to him and he will accept his lost for the night and will just run around without trying anything different. Back when Watson used to get shut out of games through tagging he would go to the F50 and use his ability 1-1 to go down there and have an impact. Last night we sent Deledio to the HB line to try and shake the tag, that just played into the Bombers hands as he still had no impact. Why not send him forward and make Hocking nervous by having him know that if Deledio gets hold of it in the F50 it's likely to be a goal.

Changes:
Out: Nahas(now that sides have worked him out he has no impact) White(adds pace and tries hard but like Nahas offers little overall) Vickery(concussion)
In: Dea Astbury Stephenson

B: Morris Chaplin Astbury
HB: Houli Rance Batchelor
C: Vlastuin Cotchin Grigg
HF: Deledio Riewoldt S.Edwards
F: King Maric McGuane
R: Stephenson Martin Foley
INT: Newman Lonergan Jackson Dea

Out:
Nahas: What a liability he has become. A shadow of him former self
Lonergan: 13 disposals and no impact in a full game

In:
Arnott: Need another inside mid that can actually impact inside
Dea: I think he can add run and carry

Hopefully Vickery is alright. He started on fire last night (5 disposals and 3 marks in the first 10 minutes)

Cotchin needs to get a bit bigger and stronger. He can't make the distance from 50m. We didn't come to play last night that's all there is too it. We have to lose 2 in a row to get the players to be hungry to win these games and we get lazy after 2 wins in a row

Dimma said before the start of the game that Ellis would be out for two to three and hope to get him and Conca back after the bye.

I don't think any changes we make unless it's Conca/Ellis/Tuck coming in are going to make much impact. People are deluded if they think Arnott right now is going give us more then Lonergan or any of the younger kids are going to suddenly change things. It's our senior blokes letting us down right now. Cotchin/Deledio/Martin need to be better then that. Essendons midfield completely outclassed us last night.

With Nahas in the second half you could see he was trying but for some reason he has lost it completely at senior level. Not sure who else you can bring in for him though because we don't have many like him.

I think we need to change our FWD structure completely. Edwards needs to come in and see what he can bring to the table. Straight swap for Mcguane who looks like he needs a rest at the moment.

A couple of good posts in here, among a sea of complete shit.

People calling for Cotchin to relinquish the captaincy, for Dimma to be sacked, saying it is our worst loss in years, saying we are more than 2 years off finals, my God. Get a clue.

We sit 5-4 after 9 rounds. We haven't played a hell of a lot of good football yet. The coaching staff looks up to it. The list looks the best it's been in 12 years. We haven't clicked yet, no. But we will. If we beat every bad and mediocre team this year, which we are doing no matter how average we play at the moment, we only need one or two scalps to make finals. Very possible from here. How anyone can be weeping in despair for our season already is unfathomable to me.

I don't know why I bother coming in here to share my thoughts. They just get drowned in the steaming turd ocean that is the majority of opinions after a loss. This board is embarrassing at times.

I'll say it once more only. Vickery is no good.
I'm sorry, people on this board may hate me but sport is a game of opinions and that is mine.
Yes, I know he had one good year, in 2011.
You know who else had a good year once upon a time? Shane Woewodin.
I think we should chase Gumbleton in the off-season, he is much MUCH better than Vickery if he can stay on the park.

The coaching staff should be ashamed of themselves putting Nahas in the side against a big, strong bodied team like the bombers. What a disgrace. The bloke couldn't stick a tackle to save himself and looks completely out of his depth. Dud. Delist.

Deledio, I love you but my god you need to play good against a decent side.
The only tag he has shaken this season is an 'over-the-hill' Kane Cornes.

Our ill-discipline continues to be a feature of our game. Very, very poor. Bad coaching in this area.
Jake King, when you give away a free kick, shut the eff up. You look like a fool.

Our lack of run is pathetic. We looked slow and unfit against a very professional bombers side.

You know you're in trouble when Grigg and Jackson are your highest possession getters. Would love to know how many times they turned the ball over or hand balled to someone under pressure tonight but don't want to waste another 2 hours of my life watching the replay.

Oh and on a final note, is there any, ANY chance that Alex Rance will be able to keep his feet one of these days? Big biceps, big chest but absolutely no core strength.
What a joke

Goodnight.

great post capitano i agree with everything you said except for chasing gumbleton you must be joking, what a you thinking man he is a spud . why not try griff elton mcbean or azza at full forward and hff not only drop ty but luke as well he is shit been telling you that for five years. as for jack for every week that he doesn't sign his price drops 450 a year or see you later jack. i think sellers is on the money with him . poor man richo but richo had heart .

Mcbean and McDonough in
Nahas and a tall out.

Mcbean has great athleticism and I think it would help Maric in the middle, and up forward as well.
McDonough might not have the tank to play out a full game but at least he offers some x factor to change a game with some goals.

Defence good.

Midfield bad.

Forwards confused (again).

Did we have a game plan?

And why was Dimma so slow to make some obvious moves (too many holes in the dike?).

We just haven't clicked so far this season.

The missus said that some of the players looked ill.

Martin for example.

Have there been any gastro/flu alerts at the club?

(Straw clutching time.)

You have no idea how much comfort I take from that statement.
