Roast So, when does Burgess start getting some scrutiny?

But he's got a PHD...

I don't think it has anything to do with Burgess.

"Be that" suggest he saying any connotation of and I don't think he wants to come out and call them out for meaning what they are lazy front runners, who arnt willing to work hard enough.

The only way up from here is to stop gifting lazy players a game every week and bring in players who will try.

There has been a bit of talk about Krak and how he is suspended.

That would send a message to the playing group, Say "even though he's suspended he still deserves a game more then a lot of you lazy pricks"

It's the brain that tells you to run. We know they are fit, the will is not there. As I wrote in another thread somewhere, players were receiving the ball, and for a split second were motionless as if deciding what to do. This I witnessed several times by several players and have done since round 1. Of course by then they would be set upon/tackled. In 2014, players would already be in motion before they received the ball, because they knew what they were doing, they were drilled. It doesn't take rocket science to work out this is between the ears. And to affect the whole group, means the problem lies at the top
Great post, agree 100%

I'm coming around to the view that it is nothing to do with Burgess - but more to do with wasted efforts that are eventually taking their tolls on the players.

We are probably at an average fitness level - but losing possession so easily, and having to chase so often... well, it ends up with us being cooked and gaining nothing from the output.

It's a bit like the GPS figures from the 07 GF being the highest recorded... Because we were desperately running around in circles all day.

Keep Burgess for a year with a new head coach - if no success.... Bye bye.

What the hell have you done to our players Burgess? Anyone see Hombsch after half time? Hands on thighs, bent over and gasping You cannot question his endeavour or heart. He is not unlike most of our boys. Physically stuffed. Sack Burgess now. So sick of the bullsh*t theoretical PHD crap. End of rant.

It's not Burgess. If you go at 50% efficiency and lose clearances, you will run twice as much as you should.

“To be completely honest with you I wanted to give them a day off or some time off, but Ken actually said: ‘No, I reckon they can keep going’.

Hinkley, not content with ******* up trade period, also ****s up pre-season...

That was from 2 years ago today (in the midst of our flying start to 2014), but it gives a fair insight into the uncharted waters we're in regarding training loads and recovery.

Given the off-the-cuff experimentation into just how hard we've been known to push them in the past, it's not beyond the realms of possibility that we're finally bearing the fruits of breaking the laws of aerodynamics while flying by the seat of our pants.

Only question is, did this correction start during our 2014 slump or the 2015 preseason? Come 2016 and the piper's well and truly being paid.

Its a 2014 article

Lol I knew that...I was making reference to Kern's stubbornness with regard to the faith he has in his players and their ability to perform.

As for when they started to redline - 2015 preseason. Tried to cram X amount of training into Y amount of recovery time and it backfired. Now the players equate running hard to pain and failure instead of success.

That's actually a good point. To now be lower-end of the league having enjoyed a full preseason, while ETA 5 Star Burton has the Crows looking like we did circa 2014 off a fortnight or more less prep is unacceptable.

Only a "they'll freshen right up in time for the run-in" push for top-4 justifies his wages, if we're the ruthless club we were and not the sentimental mediocrity-hub we've been for a decade.

I would've been one of the "Oh onya Kern, He pushes em' harder again rah rah" when that article originally came out I'm sure.

What did Burgess say about the preseason being so hard that the season seems easy, not a great mental space as true as it may be.. it's done boys!! now comes the easy football season bit yay.
