Roast So, when does Burgess start getting some scrutiny?

Still don't get why people care so much about what the players do on their holidays. And who cares if they put up some holidays snaps on Instagram. Honestly. They're not ******* robots.
I don't care about them holidaying, they deserve their time off. However, I read a few weeks back that it was a US training camp and I think Ollie even said that's what it was they were attending. Hence, the confusion.

Well I'm sure it's not a boot camp. If you were on an overseas work trip I'm sure you'd take time out to enjoy yourself. Why should they be held to higher (unreasonable) professional standards than the rest of us?

Well that is why they get very well remunerated and on average a whole lot more than the rest of us.

I don't give a shit what they do in the break tbh as long as they don't rock up to pre-season training in Steven Motlop condition.

There's absolutely no reason to believe that will be the case. In the Hinkley era one thing you can pretty well be assured of is that the players will turn up for preseason in good physical shape.

PORT Adelaide midfielder Ollie Wines is among a select handful of Power players who will embark on a pre-season training camp in the United States.

"We're going to head over to the States, a little group of the boys, we're going on a bit of a training camp with (the Power's head of high performance) Darren Burgess," Wines told Seven News on Tuesday night.

I have ZERO issue with them having an end of season trip and letting lose. But when the club promotes this as a training camp and I see the boys on the piss disappoints me because they aren't taking it seriously.

Fundamentally it has nothing to do with the club. If it did then its in breach of AFL player rules and the players association will come down hard on the club.

Your expectations of some hard as nail US Navy Seals, SAS boot camp driven by the club are unrealistic. That is to come after mid November

Where has the club promoted this?

All I have seen is a sound bite from an interview Ollie Wines gave talking about what he and a group of players were planning.

The dollars they're paid shouldn't even enter into it.
The dollars they're paid shouldn't enter into the professional standards they need to adhere to? Am I missing something? Generally, the dollars someone is paid for a job strongly correlates with the professional standards they are held to.

Plenty of us here with fairly ordinary sorts of jobs can't even afford an overseas trip but on the flip side can eat, drink and party whenever we like.

Am I missing something? What makes them answerable to you or me? They're just people performing a job, it's just that theirs is more in public view than ours. As long as they're fulfilling their end of the bargain they can do as they please on their time off. It's up to the club to make that call and act accordingly if they see a problem. Personally, I don't see one.
And going by your logic Lance Franklin should be putting in twice as hard on the training track as Gary Rohan.

Theyve been all over snapchat and instagram on the trip. Looks like the boys are having fun. Seems like they even got involved amongst the tailgating at the Oregon Ducks game. Chad put up one of them out partying in a club. Theyd probably absolutely love the anonymity over there.

Guessing the club they were at wasn't in Eugene haha

Autzen stadium is epic btw, makes AO sound like a library!! Just a shame the Ducks are terrible this year!

Also Oregon's training facilities are amazing thanks to Phil Knight's $$$ so definitely worth checking out if the club is looking to upgrade/redevelop.

They did post that they had dinner together in Eugene

A good read. He really does care about this club.
I must bring attention to his comment..
"we are certainly looking at sleep at the moment"..... and remind y'all about the Crers sleep rooms and the flotation rooms they hire hire out which I have been going on about ad infinitum this year. I think our boys are mentally fatigued.
Knew you would pick this out[emoji5]

Generally the money you are paid relates tothe demand for your services. There are cleaners in my industry who earn double what I do, yet i am responsible for the managing technical integrity of major hazard facilities. But i get to work in an office near my house, they work on a dingy oil rig in the middle of the cyclone prone timor sea. Your pay has little to do with the professional standards that apply.

I love how the amount they are paid seem to nullify the science behind what makes a productive employee.

I seriously don't think some people will be happy until they see them posting off-season Instagram photos of themselves holidaying in Victor Harbour playing cards and backgammon.

I just looked it up, looks amazing!

Well this has escalated from my simple confusion over whether this is a training camp as Ollie suggested in August or a holiday, I never said they weren't entitled to a holiday but just thought they were going over to the US to train with Burgo and hopefully improve themselves as footballers. I don't really care what they do in the off season, or how many night clubs they attend or beers they have as long as they do the work required to improve on the sh!t I've seen the last 2 years.
