Re: Boak Knights & Dangerfield

Didak, Davis, Thomas, Sidebum, Beams, Lockyer, Medhurst, Dick not enough?

I think we could do with another KP player.

But What KP could be up for Trade?

Medhurst I did not include because he is at his best deep in attack, rather than rotating through midfield/HFF.

Rusty and Beams are still being "groomed" and eventually will step into the midfield on a permanent basis.

Lockyer is in the twilight whilst still a good player.

Didak/Davis/Dick/Thomas are all great, however I would like another quality one i.e. Knights/Dangerfield simply because they would fit into our set-up very well with our rotations. Both can play in the midfield and both have goal scoring power in attack. You can never have too may quality rotations, however, whilst I prefer the dangerous HFF types (my fav position on the ground) I would not be against getting Boak either.

Re: Boak Knights & Dangerfield

Id rather have Knights ahead of the other two boys. I love the way knights plays he has a great kick at goal id hope we go for him but the first priority is to sign up the likes of cloke dids and rusty. Dangerfield and Boak are nothing speacial and wouldnt add much to our team.

Re: Boak Knights & Dangerfield

Yes all three of these players would fit in nicely at Collingwood but what would you be prepared to give up?

Adelaide and Port would not want to lose a young gun and not get a young gun in return.

Players like Pendlebury, Thomas, Beams, Wellingham, Sidebottom etc

Sure if we could offer up Josh Fraser and a pick and they took it that would be great..... NOT GOING TO HAPPEN THOUGH
boak is staying at port

Re: Boak Knights & Dangerfield

We could really do with Travis Boak. He is a very good in and under, we are slighly weak in this area. Plus Boak and it could become a real strength.

May have to trade Anthony to the Gold Coast.

Well lets go after sidebottom than. He's uncontracted.

Well He Has to Still Re-Sign

Re: Boak Knights & Dangerfield

If Josh or Wood aren't happy at year's end i can see one of them traded to either port or adelaide for either Boak or Dangerfield.

Depends on what happens and the outcome of where we end up at year's end.
Josh would have next-to-no trade value right now, he's been out of form and is continually injured. Wood would have currency but not enough for either of those two players.

I like the look of Lucas Cook from the North Ballart Rebels and plays for Vic Country.

194cm KPF and Looks Impressive

Video of Him Here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?wnl5mimzwdg

See him being a possible top 10 pick Cook. So doubt he will be around by Collingwood as great as it would be to get a quality KPF in the draft.

One player I don't mind is Josh Green from Tasmania. Excellent ball winner. Nice skills and can kick goals. Has a bit of Jason Akermanis to him without the attitude. Could be available come our first selection.

Perhaps could look at a trade with North?

They have quite a few KPF/Ruck prospects......

HMac, Goldstein, Hale, Petrie, R.Tarrant, N.O'Keefe

Attracting a big name is tough, you need to be smart and look for blokes who may be starved of opportunity......ie Sydney with Mumford, Kennedy and even R.Shaw.

No way north can fit all 6 into the team.....

That is how we ended up with Ball.

Hmac and Goldstein are their starting rucks, Petrie their main key forward, O'Keefe is a developing kid and is getting games at the moment, and Tarrant is a back. That leaves Hale. Do not want.

I'd take Hale as a ruckman if he came reasonably cheap. He isn't a full forward's arseh*le, but I never minded him as a ruckman. North are backed in to a bit of a corner at the moment though, Hmac is their obvious first choice ruckman and Goldstein needs minutes to develop, which leaves them to try and make Hale into a makeshift FF.
They should have put Hale on the table last year, his stock only continues to drop the more time he spends up front there.

A ruck duo of Hale and Jolly would be pretty intimidating.

The north forward talls was just an example off the top of my head.

It was more about the point that you need to identify a bloke who is being given limited opportunity at their current club, and then make a play for them.

As in think about which players are in a similar situation for us

Goldsack, JA, Wood.....they all may feel they deserve and should be getting more game time. So if a club offers them an opportunity they may go.

Talking about trying to land a young gun like Boak is a bit airy fairy, very rare that these type of players are traded.

But you can find a bargain if you look into club's lists and spot the talented blokes who aint getting an opportunity

What Talls do you see that be Available at our 1st Pick?

It is pretty hard to say that any quality talls will be remaining by the time Collingwood's first selection comes up. Clubs in recent years have had great success drafting smalls over the past couple of years and this being a stronger KPP draft clubs will be specialising early on KPPs. Particularly GC which will leave top 4 sides such as Collingwood without.

The main possible KPP prospects to look at that may be available come our first selection:
Josh Bruce (Could possibly be available. KPF from NSW/ACT side)
Joseph Groenwegen (could have been drafted last year. Don't project him to go as high as some think and will almost certainly be available for our first selection. More of a ruck/KPP. Has too many injury troubles and I'd stay clear personally. But rated by some quite highly. Rated him a late to rookie prospect in last years draft but could be a 3rd-4th rounder this year)
Lewis Hender (Could be available. Had a great start to the championships for SA so could possibly still rise up the ranks further. Hard to place him at this stage considering he is a relative unknown but one to watch out for).
Ben Brown (Of Tasmania also could be available. Had a great start to the championships with 5 goals in a low scoring game to Queensland)
Sam Michael (Of Queensland was a reasonable target with a few goals and a few strong contested marks)

*Of those my preferences if we went KPF would be Brown/ Michael at this stage*

Still at this stage though I am favouring going with the best available talent with a focus on quality kicks whether that be your Didak like class and instinct or your Daniel Rich like penetration. I see KPPs a more likely possibility in the rookie draft with some really nice smalls likely to be available come our selections. Most good KPPs are interstaters and most good smalls are from Vic this season. We typically tend to primarily draft Victorians in the national draft then come rookie draft go KPPs. Not that this will have a great influence, but just a general observation more than anything.

Also some other names who are impressing me. Ashley Arrowsmith. BOG effort in the TAC Cup grand final a few years back. Played for West Coast there on their rookie list, he is looking in quite reasonable touch and could be a possible selection for Collingwood. Bit of a big game player and I think he could fit into our side quite nicely. Most likely a rookie possibility if we draft him. Would love to see him get another chance. Think he can make it.

Myles Sewell if he is available come our first selection could turn out to be the most valueable player in the draft like Michael Barlow has proven to be for Fremantle. Having someone so ready made, being able to inject that into an already premiership contendor is something that will have to come under some consideration. His ball winning abilities are simply outstanding and he can run all day. His game against WA proved that he can play against better quality competition without any problems. Should have been selected by a club last year, no question and there is no way he will slip through the draft again this year!

Also for a trade target don't mind James Sellar right now. They have an over supply of Undersized rucks/ KPPs and I think they would like to add midfielder or perhaps a taller ruckman. So Adelaide could quite willingly trade him for a draft pick if they see a tall ruckman or midfielder being available at a particular selection that they are targeting.

Don't think collingwood would trade Anthony or Goldsac. We need them.
Remember kpp are gold,especially Anthony.
Wood, well collingwood recruited him to take over the mantle from Fraser.
Wood still needs time to develop.
Fraser may only have one year left the way his knee is.He can hardly string a few games together for a few seasons now. That's why we recruited Jolly .Jolly has probaly 2-3 years left in him,so Wood is being groomed.
But i don't know whether any of these guys are out of contract ,if they were then a shift may be possibly if either doesn't want to stay at the pies. Why keep a player who doesn't want to stay.

But doubt whether Goldy or Anthony want to go.Wood well he is from Adelaide and he would have to jostle with maric or port may be after a ruckman .But why trade wood when then we will only have Jolly and fraser who is no sure thing. Can't see it happening.

Thanks Mate. Why do you like Brown or Micheal mate.

True that we do Mostly Draft kids from Vic but he has taken Interstates before. What Small do you like and think be around our Picks?

Arrowshmith has been playing well with the Bullants but I doubt we need his type as we have a Few Already. Sewel could be drafted as a Tagger.

I would not mind James Sellar at all. Can play KPF and be a 2nd Ruckman

Its a crime that Sewell wasn't picked up last year. Given the Barlow result clubs will be all over him this year and we won't get a sniff.

My thinking with Sellar is that he is always going to get limited opportunities at Adelaide and a change of club could help him. Also KPPs through the draft take a number of years to develop as we have no doubt experiences with Reid and N.Brown as early draft picks so getting someone who is ready to play would be quite a nice addition. He has versatility and could play backup minutes in ruck to Jolly/ Wood if he needed to. Also has the versatility to play either KPP. He looks probably more settled down back, could very well be used on the ruckman who typically push forward (Brad Ottens and those types). Has a great work ethic and despite some injury troubles this season I think he can still make it.

If Rusling gets delisted/ retires at seasons end then it is likely that we do draft another KPF since Rocca also retired at the end of last season. Even if it is just for future depth through the rookie list maybe. But still no certainty.

Brown is a very tall forward standing at 197cm as a KPF from Tasmania. At the moment would probably be looking out for him at this stage as a KPF through the draft. Did well to kick 5 goals in a low scoring game on the weekend. Not a bad set shot at goal. Was the main target inside 50.

In terms of smalls Jed Lamb did well for Vic Country on the weekend with 4 against Metro.

After a few more games a much stronger image of all these players should come out and should give us a better idea of where everyone will place in this draft.

Wasn't the big knock on Sellar (pre draft at least) that he had a rubbish work ethic and a shit attitude?

Also, he looks like a poor man's Dawes at best to me.
