Brown is a very tall forward standing at 197cm as a KPF from Tasmania. At the moment would probably be looking out for him at this stage as a KPF through the draft. Did well to kick 5 goals in a low scoring game on the weekend. Not a bad set shot at goal. Was the main target inside 50.

Does sound a Intresting Prospect and Good Height at 197cm

In terms of smalls Jed Lamb did well for Vic Country on the weekend with 4 against Metro.

Heard some good Things about Lamb and Kicked about 40 Goals Last Season.

After a few more games a much stronger image of all these players should come out and should give us a better idea of where everyone will place in this draft.

Yeah That is True How are you Following it.

What do you think of Ryan Pendlebury?

Sellar looked good in a random pre-season match against us a few years ago.

Has done nothing since then though.

The game was in Dubai in 08? I think Tippet played well in that game too.

Sellars is play for Glenelg Know.

How about Griffin From the Crows, Will Sullivan from Eagles, Bart McColugh from Lions or Zac Clarke from Freo?

Would be very interested in Zac Clarke, but would not have a chance.

Griffen - Big no thanks. Absolute soft ****. Fraser would probably beat him up.

Sullivan - Would take him if he was very, very cheap. Saw him once or twice, think there is a bit to work with. Will not get a look in with Cox and Naitanui.

Bart - No idea about the guy.

There's no way Freo would be letting Clarke go.

Sellar has been injured for a while now, he started to string some decent footy together last year, I doubt Adelaide would offload him now after persevering with him for so long.

Unless we are in the position to snag a true star (ala Boak), I doubt we'll be trading at all. We would already be pushing our cap and if anything, we've got an excess of players available rather than a lack of. The majority of these guys mentioned wouldn't get a game for us, I don't really know why we need them?
Even Wood is ahead of all these guys.

Perhaps could look at a trade with North?

They have quite a few KPF/Ruck prospects......

HMac, Goldstein, Hale, Petrie, R.Tarrant, N.O'Keefe

Attracting a big name is tough, you need to be smart and look for blokes who may be starved of opportunity......ie Sydney with Mumford, Kennedy and even R.Shaw.
Daniel Currie from Sydney please. We've reportedly been keen on him in the past (enquiring in trade week as compensation for R Shaw) but Sydney said no dice. Now he's behind Seaby/Mumford/White/Pyke and he's got to be getting toey. Is in the bests regularly in the reserves but hasn't gotten a senior game yet. Victorian boy from Park Orchards too.

Good Call on our Salary Cap but we should have a few Players Retiring that would open some Room in the Cap

He did look good Playing FF in the NAB Cup but Would the Swans Trade him?

Wasn't the big knock on Sellar (pre draft at least) that he had a rubbish work ethic and a shit attitude?

Also, he looks like a poor man's Dawes at best to me.

There was some word at the time but from all reports I have heard over the last year and a bit that I have followed him only good things about his application and commitment to his football.

Don't picture him so much as being a forward, but backup ruck + KPD more so which is why I probably wouldn't favour the Dawes comparison.

I think of him as our Leigh Brown replacement more so than anything.

In the ruck he finds good position and is not bad at working angles. Being in the age bracket he is probably could be quite a nice pickup.

See him as a bit of a Leigh Brown/ Tom Lonergan hybrid.

Also another tall. Mitch Thorp. Known for not having the best attitude and is injury prone but was a 1st rounder for Hawthorn a few years back. Got delisted at the end of last season but I'm expecting he will get redrafted because when he is right he does not look bad at all. Considering he like Sellar is in the right age bracket for the club would not be a bad pickup either.

He could be interesting as a Late Draft Pick. Pick 6 in 2006 Draft by Hawthorn. If he got a better attitude he be well worth a Go

He has certain talent and the fact he can play either end well is a big plus. Until you actually get him into the black and white it is hard to know how hard he will work, but he is one of those high risk, high reward type players who need to be looked into. I'd be surprised if a club didn't take him with a rookie selection. A few clubs who could do with another talented KPP.

Rookie Pick I would have no Problem with Thorp on the Rookie List because he would have to earn to get on the Senior List

I'm sure I did a post on here about some of the players from last years draft along with an explaination.

Too time consuming writing up a description again, but will just add players name and position:

Mitch Thorp (KPP either. Ex Hawthorn)

Serhat Temel (KPF)

Myles Sewell (Mid)

Derrick Wanganeen (Outside mid)

Shane Page (Mid)

Kyle Hartigan (KPD)

Chris Irving (Mid)

Of that list the 2 I would look particularly seriously at of that list are (From a Collingwood perspective): Kyle Hartigan who in juniors was a dominant KPD. And Temel who is a natural footballer, strong mark, decent skills, big developed body (195cm, 95kg). Both should have gone mid way through the national draft last year.

Sorry... here we go. This was my post from earlier today that I was looking for..

This list might be of interest. Some players I thought to be certain AFL quality prospects last season who just missed out on getting drafted. Feel free to track the progress of this list.

Mitch Thorp (May, may not get selected. Recruiters went cold on him last season despite his surprising delisting after being an early 1st round draft pick. So far at VFL level has not been anything special. Has talent but knocks against him are his application to his footy, bad attitude and injuries)
Chris Irving (Was looked at by the Collingwood football club during the rookie draft. Trained with the club. Has been playing excellent footy at VFL level. One to watch)
Myles Sewell (Likely to get selected quite high in the national draft next season after the success of Michael Barlow. If I were a top 8 side who want to win a premiership now I'd take this guy, big time ball winner)
Derick Wanganeen (Talented kid who should really have been drafted. Hawthorn were high on him during the drafting period but for some reason didn't select him in the end. Another who probably should have gone in the ND. Lightly framed wingman who is very short at 172cm, but that said he has a great attitude and I can see him going far with his career if given a chance)
Shane Page (A nice small in the bold of a Scott Burns. Has a great attitude and one who I think could be one of those who could go under the radar for a few years)
Kyle Hartigan (KPD who I rate highly. Playing well for Werribee and if I was drafting now I'd be looking at this kid with a rookie pick at the very least)
Serhat Temel (KPF who was highly fancied to go in the national draft last season. Has the strongest set of hands you'll ever see and has a reasonable goal sense. Natural footballer. Unfortunately got overlooked due to his lack of athleticism. Some suspect his work ethic or attitude were to blaim, but certainly should have been rookie drafted at the very least!)

*This is not ordered by preference of players but just giving a general oversight into who they are and what they are more so than anything for you all to keep your eyes out. From a Collingwood perspective I'm particularly keen on Kyle Hartigan and was throughout the national draft as a late pick. Then Myles Sewell you could almost look at with a 1st round selection he is that good.*

Just putting some names out there. Feel free to look out for them, all players who should again come under consideration come draft time.

Do you know how Hartigan and Temel have gone since the Draft?

Do you know how Hartigan and Temel have gone since the Draft?

Temel plays for Bendigo..

Hartigan for Werribee..

Hartigan had a notable game against North Ballarat in round 6. Looked very composed down back. Reminds me a little of a Brian Lake. Very strong overhead and can outmark his opponents which is very impressive considering he is most weeks against older, bigger opponents at VFL level.
Hartigan signed with Werribee because of the great success Barlow and Podsiadly amongst others have had there at developing their talent into AFL quality players. Being a KPD, it does take a while to develop, but of the games he has played he has not looked out of sorts at all.

Temel in the TAC Cup finals was incredibly impressive with his fine goal kicking display. His start to the season has been ok without being outstanding. At this stage just finding his feet and getting used to playing against the bigger more experienced bodies.

Of the pair Hartigan is certainly my preference my a long shot and I see our need for another KPD to be far greater than for another KPF to be honest. But that is not to say we shouldn't be considering Temel if he can improve as the year progresses.

Well Actually Think KPF is a More Need then KPD but Not Much Between them. Both could be good Late Draft Picks

Last year I had projected Hartigan to be in the 30-50 range. Then Temel from 40-late. My thinking down back is that after Presti retires we are only left with Reid and Brown. With Keeffe (ruckman but can play back) and Carter.

But up forward assuming Rusling is delisted we still have JA, Dawes, Cloke and L.Brown. With our ruckman who still rotate into our forwardline.

On the basis that we need more developing senior list depth down back that is more so where I'm comming from.

We could do with another KPF and KPD, but still best available is the way to go with Hartigan being the pick of the pair at this stage. Really see him as being as great Presti replacement long term where as Temel is more hit and miss.

But again like the U18 talent, we will get a clearer idea as the season progresses. I will no doubt continue to keep everyone informed.

Jack Riewoldt, what a gun. I wonder what we'd have to give up to get him this year. Possibly Anthony + First round pick? Dunno, but I'd love to have him in the side right now.

Riewoldt won't be available next season it is fair to say. Came from no where this season and is certainly amongst the most improved players in the league this season.

Richmond are currently trying to build around their young core group, so right now their plan with their first selection in next year's draft will be to get the best KPF available to compliment Riewoldt.

It should be a rule that anyone who wants to complain about draft picks in hindsight give their picks BEFORE the draft so we can retroactively point back and laugh at them. The draft is not, and has never been an exact science, but if anyone wants to make a thread telling us who they would pick so in 5 years we can look back and tell them what a complete frigging ****** they are go ahead.
