Continued in Part 2

Well Pokies are regulated to an extent, not enough, but still. Online Poker was largely a free for all and most of the money was going overseas.
Is the problem with online poker that "most of the money was going overseas" or that it was unregulated gambling? From my understanding this legislation was about curtailing the former. That is stopping offshore sportsbetting companies such as betfair and keeping the gambling money within Australia and with all those law abiding tax paying sportsbetting companies. Online poker which could not be offered by Australian's to Australian's due to previous legislation, has been caught up in this.

As someone who plays what's called micostakes games for enjoyment and minor profits (I deposited $AUD100 back in December 2006 and never again), it is very frustrating. It needs to be for real money money even if only 5c/10c games which I play, otherwise bluffs or other such plays are useless.

The free for all aspect is true, but there are no betting limits on the regulated sports bet sites. If someone wants to gamble large sums of money, they still can.

lol at pokies being regulated. I worked in and managed pubs for 20+ years. There's bugger all self regulation. I've seen gamblers lose thousands day after day pumping money in to a single machine. Sure there is a cap on the maximum able to spent on each spin, but that doesn't stop some one wedging a card in to the bottom to keep it permanently pressed and spinning, 10 spins a minute, for 14 hours.

The worst I have seen was a guy playing $50 per spin at the casino where he had $12k up when I first saw him, and he played it down to zero in the time I was there. The guy wasn't even sitting at the machine. He was sitting on a couch against the wall watching his machine that had a card jammed in the button to keep pressed in.

My sister has stories from the Treasury where they have max $300 per spin machines in the high rollers.

That's pathetic. If he lost all that money then he deserved too, no sympathy whatsoever. Irresponsible idiot.

I play pokies, but didn't even know you could do that with a card, how desperate does that seem?! These are the people who give us everyday sensible players a bad name.....who might even get a favorite activity banned.

I also play pokies online, but only for play money, not real money. The machines online are completely different to the real thing imo, so no way would I play for real money. It passes time if I don't want to watch tv or do housework all day. No different than playing solitaire cards or other games online.

Like you briztoon Mr MM puts in $50-100 into his poker accounts every few months and plays 1-5cent games...I'm too tight with my money, every so often if I play, I play with his money:D

So apparently....

"Brisbane Lions supporters are least likely to view any AFL TV broadcasts (60.8 per cent): in fact, more of them (70.6 per cent) prefer to watch NRL on TV."

In other news, the sky is in fact blue.

Yeah so, just saw footage on the news of Peter Dutton being interviewed during his morning walk saying something about... I'm not sure actually, maybe something about looking like an actual potato.

Anyway, he was wearing a Lions polo.

So, uh, that's something isn't it. Most prominent Lions supporting politician since KRudd?

Membership into the microwave.
Actually, if someone can help me get the spud in there...

In all seriousness, and this isn't supposed to be a political thread, he has realised that his parliamentary membership is very precarious at the moment, so all of a sudden he is softening on SSM and is a huge supporter of the local heroes. The weasel will be opening his doors to asylum seekers next. Maybe he should follow Essendon, #WhateverItTakes

We've had a bad week.

He could've been wearing a Crows/Suns jumper....at least he was showing support for the Lions.

I'm no fan, but if we have anyone showing us support, that's ok imo (barring axe murderers and the like of course;))

Oh come on Haso. He has been showing his Prime Ministerial credentials lately.

"PM credentials" basically being leaking to the media that he's considered (at least by himself) as the next cab off the rank in our revolving door system of leadership.
