Matt Rendell goes on a lengthy rant about Grundy not being leadership material based on him never being in the leadership group.

Barrett fact checks him to say he was in the leadership group last year.

Rendell: “Oh…well I take that back then” :$
Thing is though he was only in the leadership group for 1 year, wasn't part of it this year. So his point still stands...

LOL at this baby explaining trade period to someone who was involved in trades
...and got fired for incompetence, due to his role in it, and is throwing his toys out of the cot over one rumoured offer at the start of trade period - because it's his former club that's affected.

that doesn't mean he didn't have a list management career unlike old make chucking a wobbly on the phone

And yet he saw fit to insult the list manager at Geelong over a rumoured opening trade offer? The guy just sounds like a drunk and has no idea what he's talking about. Maybe half the reason he got fired is because he didn't know what he was doing when he was in the role, hey?

If we could get a ban on callers ringing up and saying why doesn't my club go for player X who has already nominated club Y then it would make it so much more listenable. Surely people know by now this doesn't happen, once a player picks a club that's it.

he didn't really get fired, he was made redundant during covid

If they condensed the entire thing into a 5 hour show from 2pm-7pm each afternoon that would also make it more listenable. Nothing much happens earlier than that anyway, and the AFL could just not accept paperwork before 3pm if they wanted the paperwork stamper at AFL House to get the rest of their work done this week.

An hour early show where they talk s**t and catch up on the day's rumours with whatever journalist is on call to break news that day, 2 hours of trades dropping before the paperwork stamper goes home at 5pm, and then 2 hours to debrief and discuss, maybe do a list review for a couple of clubs, discuss any other rumours for things that haven't happened yet.

Not really.

Taylor Adams disputed Rendell’s ability to assess Grundy’s leadership qualities without being within the club. Rendell pointed to him never being in the leadership group as objective evidence, which turned out to be factually incorrect.

Sure, he wasn’t in it this year. But he WAS in it at one point. At best, Rendell’s point is severely weakened. But it was more about not doing basic research to avoid looking like a goose.

If a player had good leadership qualities why would they be ousted after only being involved for 1 year. I can't think of any reasonable explanations

Because others were deemed better leaders for 2022. There‘s a lot of middle ground between being one of the best handful of leaders at the club and having poor leadership qualities.

Could similarly ask, why would they be voted in in the first place?

Regardless, again, not really the point.

Sorry to do this to you guys but if I have to focus on it then you can. The amount of lip smacking from Barrett is just about unbearable. There wouldn’t be so much if it if he just shut up a bit and didn’t drag out every single comment

Why would you do this? It's like catching aids and giving it to your wife
