Couple of undrafted players/mature players who I'd be really interested in having on our VFL list. Could look to develop them and take them in the SPP or Mid season if we get an LTI.

Blake Schlensog - Mature age Key Defender
Sam Paea - Key forward, Calder Cannons
Josh Rentsch - Key forward, GW Rebels
Liam Podhajski - Ruckman, Calder Cannons
Jack Avery - Intercepting half back, Perth Demons
Finn Gorringe -Lockdown half back, East Fremantle
Hugh Stagg - Inside Mid, Glenelg
Joel Trudgeon - Inside Mid, Northern Knights
Will Splann - Key Position Player, Tasmanian Devils

Will Splann = The Business

Not unknown for Herons to migrate up and down the east coast in search of suitable habitat.
Sir David Attenborough’s voice in my noggin while reading that! lol 😂

Any word on this bloke?
No but one of my mates asked Paul about who else North was speaking to and he mentioned that we were a chance to land Marty Hore (Dees) and we've asked the question of Jack Lonie (Saints). Also two Sandy Dragon boys will train with us. I'm not aware of the names yet.

Lonie would be a good pick up.

As usual, Paul Amy comes through with the goods again.

Former Melbourne defender Marty Hore will get the chance to revive his career with North Melbourne after the Roos invited him to train over the summer.

The 25-year-old backman will start training with North next week in the hope of claiming a final list spot as a supplementary list selection at the end of the pre-season.

The luckless defender, a mature-aged recruit when drafted by the Demons three years ago, has had two seasons ruined by injury after a promising debut season.

Hore played 14 games in his first year at Melbourne and looked comfortable at the level after several years as a reliable VFL player.

He injured a quad muscle badly when weight training at the Demons and missed all of 2020. In January, he ruptured the ACL in his left knee in a pre-season training session.

North, who have gone young in recent years attacking the draft, have brought in big-bodied midfielder Hugh Greenwood as a delisted free agent. The Greenwood selection was the surprise move of the off-season, but it has provided the Roos with depth and coverage in the midfield, particularly with uncertainty over the playing future of veteran Ben Cunnington.

Hore could potentially be another mature body brought in to help add depth to the North back line.

If he doesn’t win North’s vacant list spot he will remain with the club, playing in the VFL team.

Solid prospect with neat kicking skills and marking. A tad on the slow side though.

A little surprised we aren't looking at a KPD to train with us*.

*Never mind. Looks to be a few VFL prospects.

Few more names:

Will Lewis (KPF) from old Brighton.

The Tonners came from 10 points down against a gallant OMs on Saturday and ran out 25-point winners on the back of a 10-goal-to-four second half. Referring to Will Lewis as ‘Lennox’ in R7 was seemingly one game too early but he has since been putting opposition defences on the canvas with hauls of nine and five over the past two games. He’s stood up in the absence of Jack Watts and become the dominant forward in William Buck Premier. Of course, it helps with the Brighton midfield streaming towards him. And that midfield all starts with Lachlan Filipovic who is having an outstanding season in the ruck. As if Hill, Fisher and Pavlou needed anymore assistance, Filipovic too has taken his game to another level.

Justin Davies from Dandy apparently met with us today - 194cm KPD - https://central.rookieme.com/afl/player/justin-davies/

STRENGTHS: Aerial game, Clean hands, Reading the play, Defensive accountability

Interesting means maybe we found cash for lynch as a coach and don’t have to take him on the rookie list
