Never said it doesn’t exist lol. Sam clohesy is a great example and is a very good young player.

Are you suggesting my reasons for discounting all those other examples given was unfair hahaha.

Weird that he slipped to a rookie selection.
Clohesy is turning 22 he has missed 3 drafts completely then got through to the rookie draft .

Pfft. Getting better (slowly, sure) and was coming from a long way back when drafted. Should definitely persevere.

The exact type of player who will thrive with support from the club and fans, rather than derision.
How can he not be getting better? If you get 6 possessions a game on the wing, the only way for you to not get better is to basically sit in a hole and cry.

In reality the second we get more depth, he isnt in our best 22. Its also reality to say if we delisted him, he would be re-rookied by us as no one else would want him. Its also reality to say that he has never had a game as good as Joe Richards, and Finlay Macrae from today also who have just started while Chesser is some 20+ games in.

Chesser is getting better every week. Young players development is never linear.

Chesser is starting to show some signs that might actually come on very quickly in the second half of this year.
Remember the same thing with sheppard.
He was 90% garbage 10% potential in his first 50 games .
Then was solid without being fantastic up until 100 games .
After that he was just a gun but he was 24-25 years before it came together for him

Thats revisionist or what. In his 7th game, Shep got 25 possessions. Chesser got 25 possessions in the previuous 3 weeks combined in games 20,21 and 22....

Its not even close

The gameplan doesn't appear to be doing anyone playing on the wing any favours though. Our forwards seem to come right up for an outlet kick and whoever plays on the wing is getting ignored, because they're going longer from the backline.

Hunt gets more of it because he plays a lot more at HB.

You're cherry picking stats here.

Shep got 25 possesions in his 7th game, 22 in the next, and then failed to get into the 20s for the next three seasons. Then, in 2014, he had 2 games higher than 20 possesions out of the 14 he played.

If you want to actually compare stats then lets compare: Campbell has averaged 11 possessions over the 22 AFL games he has played to date. Sheppard averaged 13 over the same period.

Liked his game today. Don’t have to be overjoyed with it, don’t have to have loved the body of work so far, but he’s clearly trending up and is now finding moments to inject himself into the game which was something he has struggled with thus far. That’s improvement, pretending otherwise is just being miserable.

Might not make it at the end of the day, you never know, but given how our list is built and what he’s shown so far, you’d back him in to continually play and continue to show glimpses.

Nowhere near the first on the chopping block.

If we can persist with someone like petch, whos only now shown he is half competent at AFL surely we can afford chesser the same leeway.
It seems that's the conclusion match committee and the brains trust have come up with, they will keep playing him. Doesn't really matter when we are this shizen, not costing the team any wins. Free throw at the stumps.

22yo Macrae and 24yo Richards?

You don’t reckon it might be a slight advantage playing in the team that won by 70?
