To have a game where the people watching it can’t understand the rules IS a major problem. The congestion is a major problem too.
Not being able to explain rules is different to not knowing them and no doubt, congestion is a huge problem.

There are many problems with the game at the moment. Doesn't mean the article explained them well or gave solutions to the problems. It was the same old tripe, blaming broadcasters and shifting blame from the governing body to those who work with what they are given - coaches, players, broadcasters.

The same people writing articles like this are largely the same people who would be opposed to the wholesale changes that it would take to "fix" the aesthetics of the game.

7. The Dogs don't always need a dominant Bont
Marcus Bontempelli entered the season as the Western Bulldogs' new skipper and arguably the AFL's best player. However, Bontempelli was ordinary, by his standards, in round one and despite some highs in between, he was subdued again on Saturday night with 12 disposals (four kicks). Kangaroo Luke McDonald minded him at stoppages and when he went forward, while winning more of the Sherrin than Bontempelli. Even so, the Dogs produced an even performance, with Tom Liberatore and Jack Macrae, in particular, picking up the slack. Lachie Hunter is due back next week, while Josh Dunkley is still some time away, proving the Bulldogs have genuine depth. They've won three games on the trot since an 0-2 start and are showing they can play at a high level without Bontempelli performing a starring role. And that's healthy. - Marc McGowan

There's a new article from http://www.bulldogtragician.com/ written after the Sydney game last week.

One little inaccuracy:

"How quickly does the footy caravan move on - brutal, swift, relentless. Tonight, there are only three 'survivors' (Bont, JJ and Macrae) from that 'coming-of-age' 2015 encounter; yet again, the Western Bulldogs team is the most youthful of the round."

Woody and Jong are still here as well.

I believe the tragician is correct. The article was published 2 days before the norf game and there are other indications in the body of the text to suggest it was written on or about the day of the Sydney game and referred to the Sydney game. Neither Woody nor Jongy played that night (10 days ago).

I originally read that as those three are the only ones still around, (as opposed to playing v Sydney last week). But, yes, they are the only three that played last week. Five years is an eternity in football 🙁.

Bloody "On The Couch" tonight on Fox Footy: Brisbane front runners for the flag, Collingwood, Collingwood, Collingwood, Tigers, Tigers, Tigers, Geelong, Adelaide and Melbourne no good, Saints recruiting fantastic, etc, etc.

One little bit about Josh Bruce kicking a bag and that was it on us. Nothing about three strong wins in a row, keeping oppos to less than 40 points and looking like a finals threat. Are we invisible?

Invisible with that lot is a good thing.

Do yourself a favor and listen to Footyology instead of watching that rubbish.
Very bullish about us.

There’s a story told by the great (waal, by Essendon standards) Paul Van Der Haar. He organised to go shooting with a mate, lobbed up early, his mate said he didn’t have anywhere for Vander to sleep. Says Vander ‘No Worries, I'll sleep in the laundry on this old sack there.’ The mate's dog's patch. Vander woke up in the morning with flea bites all over him. Thus the simile. I hope that classmate, Jack, gets off. Whether he deserves to or not is for another thread.
