Carlton still have a long long long way to go.

Need another key defender, another forward (third marking type) and three more mids with serious leg-speed. Without those sorts of players being added, we are going to have to punch above our weight to win the flag.
Sir, critical thinking and deep analysis is not welcome in these threads.

We are simply here for a pissing contest.

Ps: agree re a KPD and speedy mids, but another forward? Why can’t SOSjr play that role? Or TDK as a resting ruck?

But they are a bottom four club, which is why they finished in the bottom four. THAT IS THE VERY DEFINITION OF A BOTTOM FOUR CLUB.

So of course Charlie would have had a great game against a bottom four club, it is what he does best.
Come finals time he is a worse version of Billy Frampton, a soft pea heart who doesn't have the will or ability to actually influence big and important matches.

Difference between finishing bottom four and playing like a bottom four club. If you did your homework, you would come to realise they were a times hard to overcome as they have a core group of solid performers.

Once again. Wrong about Charlie.
Pea heart? LOL
Your track record is not looking so good.

Even if my track record was complete and utter garbage, it is still tracking better than Charlie's record in big matches.
Can't wait to see him in his next final in 2027 when he yet again fails to do anything and is completely useless for the entire game.

Don't need another key defender. We have a few already we can work with.
Third forward? JSOS? Martin the hybrid? TDK with more training? Not that big of an issue.

Do agree with the leg speed though. Also need more time developed into the small forwards and their pressure game. They need to learn a little from Fogarty in that area, while Fogarty himself needs to hit the scoreboard more often. I think there is a need for greater synergy to be found within the forward group.

That Gold Coast game was a big match. It was to solidify the team's spot in their first finals series in 10 years.

2027? Okay. Thought it was a proper discussion. You are just a troll who is lost and looking to find their way back to bay 13. No point wasting my time with your drivel.

I'll stick by the dual Coleman medallist and AA to improve his game and listen to the impartial professionals in the footy media. Continue being the simple-minded armchair critic with nothing to add but unconstructive, prejudiced junk. Wish you the very best for next season and may your team improve. 😌🙏🏻

Stay salty Campaigner.

Not Charlies fault that ur mob stunk it up this year.

What happens if Weitering gets injured or an opposition team has two genuine talls up forward ??

You are clutching at straws if you think JSOS is up to it and as for Martin, he is way too casual & spasmodic.

Two sides expected to be good again next year after one made a preliminary final this year and the other won the flag.

Which side do you think will be better next year?

For Carlton to be better than Collingwood in 2024. Collingwood need to not go back to back. And Carlton needs to make the grand final AND win it.

JSOS ...... no, just no !!

We need a Jack Gunston type in our forward line to offset McKay & Curnow who don't seem to kick multiple goals each in a match as often as they should.

We have Young who hopefully can restore his good form after another full preseason. S.Durdin might still hang around. Project player in Akuei in his 3rd year (don't stay on a list this long if the coaches aren't putting effort into preparing him for a possible AFL stint. Kemp further training for a similar role.

Contemplating the possibility of any player getting injured is no different if it were to happen with any other team. Part and parcel of footy, have to work around it.

JSOS and Martin have shown glimpses that they can play the third forward. Get their bodies right and I am all for giving them another run.

Last thing we need to do is constantly instil doubt into the players' minds and threaten to replace them after a misstep. How about show some faith in the guys and give them another chance? The team looked to have learnt from 2022 and managed to cover for the losses very well after the bye.

I think it’s a bit of the whole ‘one man’s garbage is another man’s treasure’ scenario here.

JSOS ain’t as bad as what some Carlton supporters thing. You already have that 3rd forward who can play further up the ground if needed. Just need to look at his Port game to see what he has in the bag.

He’d go alright under Fly with abit more TLC.

Only one gun forward dominated turned that game on its head... and they played for the blues. Make sure you get your year correct.

Suns a bottom four club? Their best is an absolute challenge to take on. Especially at their home ground. I seem to recall them dominating the runner-up this year.

Absolute squib? ❌️ WRONG! Try again.
Why do you neglect to mention how the eventual premier went against the Suns on their home ground? Particularly given this is a thread about Carlton and Collingwood?

Want an idea of how good Curnow can be... sit back a watch the round 23 match against the Suns from quarter time for what became one of the most impactful performances from a key forward this year.
I commented that Charlie was the best player in the game after that Suns game. His will to win was unbelievable - he single-handedly carried Carlton across the line that day.

But we didn't see that same will/hunger from him in the finals series, almost as if making the finals was the ultimate achievement, and anything more was a bonus?

Maybe he needs to set his sights from a team perspective a little higher in 2024 (and find a way to get a kick without relying on umpire intervention, because as we saw this year, a lot fewer free kicks are paid in September)

Take the bloody blinkers off and look at this in the real world !!

Young started off well but fell off the precipice mid-season, he may even be traded next week. As for S.Durdin .......... might be a nice chap but he's a VFL player only, how the hell is he going to mind the big gorilla forwards in the AFL ?? Kemp is a very good rebounding/marking player, not a key position defender.

JSOS is a back-up player at best. He's slow & not a reliable kick for goal.

As for Martin, we are not in the "glimpses" business, we are in the 'here & now' after playing in a PF. Martin has never ever delivered a full game in his lifetime including the games at GC. He cannot be relied upon to play a full game and kick goals every week - end of story !!

"ïnstil doubts into the players minds" ................. what the hell are you referring to, kindergarten with participation ribbons ?? The poor little cherubs, might get their feelings hurt. I don't want s0ftcock players who need to be pandered to, I want guys who will do more than they ever have in the pursuit oif winning a flag.

This is professional sport, they get paid big money to play to a minimum level, in the real world, people get sacked for not doing their job properly so stop making limp-wristed excuses and be accepting of mediocrity.

Go look at this year's premiers, they have set the benchmark in attitude & performance, if you don't offer up the same (or very neare to it), you are going nowhere.

Good, we'll trade him to you for Crisp then.

You keep banging on about free kicks as if none of them should ever be paid

The premiers beating the Suns? Stop the presses!

I said they were a challenge up there, not impossible. I don't think Collingwood beating the Suns is an argument to suggest they are a terrible side. If it were bottom sides travelling up there doing what they did, then you might be onto something.

And especially someone such as yourself, who would almost throw his entire savings away at betting any opponent to beat the blues at any round... just because your hatred overwhelms your judgement. I seem to recall you being firm on Gold Coast doing a number on us (unless I mistook you for another pies fan on here).

Why are you so desperate to take every avenue in s**t-canning a Carlton player to justify your prejudiced position. Charlie Curnow may have been overhyped by media and certainly didn't deliver what was expected of him in finals. But to imply he is now a terrible player just because of this is nothing short of stupid. I'm not sure he asked for any of this. He simply was looking to play a role... just did so underwhelmingly.

You don't think Collingwood players have had a terrible finals series before this year. Was the entire footy world throwing crap at them and trying to bring them down?

You tell me to take the blinkers off. And then proceed to put forward the idea of trading a recently-signed heart and soul favourite son for another midfield rotation at 30+ years of age.

Yeah. Nope. Take a break from here pal to refresh your mind.

Get a clue .............

Fox Footy showed that Jack Crisp has been the third best finals performer for the past decade. He's no flash in the pan !!
