Roast why did the RFC allow the green nib logo to desecrate our sacred yellow sash

FMD this thread is perfect in the age of whiny millennial c@nts who cry into their smashed avo that the baby boomers won't gift them a house. There was a time when we only just avoided being Fitzroy by rattling tins and begging for donations. Listen to Rhett Bartlett's podcasts and you'll find out if it wasn't for the Just Jeans owner (who barracked for Sydney & only donated cos he admired how Richmond once was and loved how tireless Neville Crowe fought) being our biggest single donor the club would've gone under as we only just made it. So if some company wants to pour millions into the club fantastic who cares what their logo looks like. So long as the company isn't run by Jeffry Epstein or Harvey Weinstein then who cares welcome aboard. McDonald's isn't going to throw Millions at the Tigers to have their golden arches hidden on our sash so every possible logo will stand out. That's what they're paying the big bucks for. FMD in some ways was better when we had 3000 members!!!!

Bro it’s a roast

People are just shooting the breeze

🖤

You can look at it two ways, how precious must Nib be that the company colours have to be included? Jeep stood out perfectly fine with the black contrasting against the yellow, Nib should do the same
A company's logo and colours for that matter are worth millions to them.

If we want yellow and black logo's, we need to find sponsors with Y&B logo's

colour is central 2 some companies brand. frankly, so long as they tip in big bucks it doesn't bother me.

They've just changed their business colours from that fluorescent green to the dark green and in general companies change up their logo all the time. I dont think it means that much to them.

Not a great time to be looking for a major sponsor, and companies that do agree to part with millions are wanting more and more from their investment. It’s commercialism.

next year we will be looking for one when their contract ends

god I hope they dont re sign

Give me the old days of no logos. Woollen jumpers.

What is it about the Boomer generation who disproportionally believe the world lives almost purely in an economy and not a society?

The same type who sold out their faux 70's peace and love for trickle down economics, goverment welfare subsidised 2nd and 3rd homes, tumeric supplements and daily Herald-Sun deliveries.

Why wouldn't you want an ethical sponsor who can also provide decent coin rather than jumping at cash of almost any company?

How's that for some balance to the arguement mate?

Regards, Gen X

It's so weird how boomers always leave out affordable housing and a functioning social safety net from their 'back in my day...' rants.

I was a bit young to vote but I inherited 23 years of liberal govt up to 1972 was kinda interesting. Communist Parties on one side DLP on the other. The Greens & the Pauline Hanson party of its time. If I wasn't atheist I'd think of Gough Whitlam as god. !972 is Day 1 of the enlightenment. Set up free uni education, medicare, pulled us out of Vietnam, land rights etc etc and 11 NOV is my rememberence of his sacking. Maybe other boomers think Malcolm Fraser is god.

1982 working 6 days a week. House prices were 40~ 60k. A year or 2s work, which some friends did. The land before avocados. No smashed avo. Lamb and 3 veg. coffee was international roast. Standing for coffee at Pellagrinos & Real pasta, coffee, decent bread. Souvlakis. Johnny's "Green" Room. Lygon St was insane to suburban moi. There were a lot of Italian, Greek and Maltese at my first school but no shops.

Melbourne was polluted industry brought jobs but pollution to the air and waterways. I'd swim in the Maribrynong as a dare. Keeping head out of water.
I guess Keating/Hawke/Button global economies. Exploiting cheap labour, dunno somehow Aust manage education & inbound tourism was a different sort of industries. With a bit of effort cities got cleaner, people started living in them. COVID has chucked a big curve ball into the mix. Forced us to rethink the normal.

Micro plastic pollution I thought was going to be the end of days, smart people are working on enzymes to eat it up. Take away coffee comes in degradeable cups. I vote but I had to wait the last 10 years of Liberal govt inaction on anything. On EVs killing the weekend!
Without Federal Govt help people are working on non fossil fuels. NSW LIB State Govt is closing a coal power plant down..I use a retailer that gets hydro from the Snowy.

And speaking of hydro how long has it taken for a place like Canberra to rethink drug usage/criminality Drugs were part of the cultures I was/am involved in. I did see a couple of people spin out on pot, and other people lose their houses up their arm. I liked the stone of pot but not the damage to lungs and make it slightly difficult to communicate with the world. One American friend has a medical permit. And medicinal pot is getting grown here.

Maybe we get Cannaponics to sponsor us

Can I take blame or credit for anything a local state of federal Government does? Aust has strong inflation. Japan, bizarrely, none. Rent, prices just hasn't gone up in last 40 years.
