There's been some pretty horrific acts carried out by people flying a Union Jack. Is that an appropriate symbol to be on our flag?

So it's high time then we ditched our Colonial enslavement moniker in favor of adopting the Aboriginal flag as our true mark of independence & identity.

Regarding the OP I think much of it is down to World War 2- the Soviets were allies of the Western powers, the Nazis weren’t. Then of course there’s the fact that the gulag system was largely dismantled during the Khrushchev era. There were no Belsen style newsreels of the gulag’s horrors, and the sheer isolation of the largest camps makes them a logistical nightmare for tourists, where Auschwitz is located an hour or so from one of Europe’s most popular tourist destinations, Krakow.

Stalin, Mao, etc were all brutal, but their death toll was partially achieved through sheer incompetence. The Nazis set out to kill millions of people for no other purpose but to kill them and achieved it.
