Selection Versus Carlton

Wow I reckon Judd would get 80, think I'll make him my DT captain.

Would be a fair experience for Barham though. But yes I honestly cannot see a player in our side worthy of taking him.

You just have to block his run, let him play his inside game, as his outside game is more dangerous.

Toovey should stay in. Say what you want, but Eddie Betts has been in good form. Who is a better chance at stopping Betts than Toovey? Genuinely, who?

Err, does the "Brazilian Anaconda" ring a bell?

Toovey is an absolute useless *******. About time his head was on the chopping bloke. There are plenty of others who are deservedly ahead of him and even Corrie/Leroy Brown need to be replaced too.

I'd play Barham on Judd, and just tell him to tackle Judd and drive him into the ground whenever he can.

Judd has the potential to tear our joke of a midfield apart, any chance we have to tire him out we should at least try and take, and Barham is quick enough to run with him.

I don't know about that overblown statement. The midfield you are referring to is or at least was up until last week the #1 clearance team in the comp and possesses talent such as Swan, Davis and Pendlebury.

Personally, I'd go with either Davis/Pendles head-to-head with Judd. If it's in contested situations at stoppages/clearances it has to be Pendles because his clearance work in tight is phenomenal.

If it is on the break, allow Davis to swoop and hurt him going the other way. No need to play a hard tag on anyone. Just focus on winning the football first. We have proven we are equally as capable as any side to dominate the centre square/stoppages.

I would like to see Reid at CHB, Brown at CHF, or vice-versa.

Anthony, Beams, Wellingham and Toovey/Barham from the bench you would imagine.

Like others, I would prefer Bryan over L.Brown.

Re: Team for round 8

Ohh it looks like its only minor!

Nothing official really, just "knee soreness" is the most informative tag given out, so I'd say Thomas would probably return against the Weagles next week.

It is disgraceful that Brown continues to get a game.

Reckon the fat lady is warming up her voice for Stanley

Re: Team for round 8

Geez, i guess Tooves really deserved to hold his spot in the side after keeping Goddard to under 40 possessions...

Re: Team for round 8

This seems a Mick special

Shaw, Presti, Maxwell (the Fev & Betts threat)
Clarke, Reid, O'Brien (some HB speed and rebound)
Davis, Swan, Barham
Sidebottom, NBrown, Lockyer (Nate could do with a refresher up front, or Reid)
LBrown, Anthony, Medhurst
Wood, Pendlebury, O'Bree
Cook, Toovey, Wellingham, Corrie (with Barham all runners/taggers on Blues' mids)

So, covers for Fev, & stock up with covers for Carlton's mids -that gives a good feeling. Surprised if Cox (bruised bone) & Beams (groin) would come straight back in after injury. If Swan, Davis and Medhurst are really going to be fit for this game, then it may be a classic Malthouse back to the wall production. An epic. Without at least two of them, we'll struggle to feed and kick goals, and drown as in the parting of the Blue waters.

Also, Pebs' ommission could spell the end for the big guy. We cannot afford to just "gift" him games every second/third week. As for Danny Stanley, his career is certainly over with us after being dropped.
I think you're right on both counts. :(

i'd expect to see reid or n.brown move forward.
I hope Reid goes back to continue his development, and Brown goes forward.

Gee we are short up forward. Lets hope it rains, and rains and rains and rains.

Don't see much point of dropping Stanley and naming Cook. Both are VFL players at best, neither one adds anything to the team, so might as well have left Stanley in there.
Me too, I'd rather Stanley get a consistent run and a chance to show something. The weather report is for showers and 17 degrees, by the way.

I have to say it, I don't think we should bother with Rocca anymore. At his best he is so important, but he can't put more than two games together. One game back will probably be him getting used to the tempo once again, the next game he won't pull up fit. Time to cut our losses imo. Give him a final match as a farewell match, as he deserves it. Let him announce his retirement before a game, let him play it and send him off.
Yep.

sorry guys but that is the worst collingwood team ive seen since 1999 when we won the spoon.you have 2 hacks that where basically delisted by there previous club in brown and corrie and now they are regulars in our team doesnt say much for the rest of the squad.and you have 2 players that are the worst kicks of a football in afl history in toovey and barham who are also in the team.i hate carlton more then anyone and i hope im wrong but i cant see us getting within 6 goals.

DT13 - Calling Toovey a ******* is very stupid. Any issues should be with the coaching staff and selection panel regarding this issue. All the man can do once selected is give 110%, which he does EVERYTIME.

The bloke should be commended for his effort, and the coaching panel ridiculed for selecting a bloke that will never place in a premiership team.

Good to see Wood back in, L.Brown continues to take a underserved place in the side. I don't like Bryan in the side, but he is far better than L.Brown who is useless all over the ground, at least Bryan can win a tap and is better pinch hitting up forward.

Stanley once gain boned, this is probably the end for him.

Hope the bench reads Beams, Anthony, Toovey and Wellingham. I like the idea that Reid should go to CHB and N.Brown move to CHF as the Blues don't have any dangerous tall forwards besides Fev, who Presti will take, and we can't expect Anthony to be the sole tall forward.

I would personally like something like this:

Collingwood
B: Harry O’Brien, Simon Prestigiacomo, Martin Clarke
HB: Nick Maxwell (c), Ben Reid, Heath Shaw
C: Anthony Corrie, Scott Pendlebury, Shannon Cox
HF: Steele Sidebottom, Nathan Brown, Leon Davis
F: Tarkyn Lockyer, Jack Anthony, Paul Medhurst
Foll: Cameron Wood, Dane Swan, Shane O’Bree
Int: Leigh Brown, Dayne Beams, Alan Toovey, Sharrod Wellingham

I assume Carlton will play Waite forward, and I think Reid is an ideal match up for him. Regardless, I'm really hoping Reid plays a good one up forward or down back, because the future of Rocca is pretty bleak. I'm not sure how that forward line would function, but we really don't have many options at the moment.
I'd much rather Bryan in for Brown, a better ruckman, and a better target up forward.

Spot on I think. And on Reid vs Waite (as DaVe86 suggested and all the Metallica fans may appreciate) Wherever He* May Roam. Oh i'd also have Barham ahead of Tooves but thats just me.

*Edited for convenience.
