CEO Gil McLachlan to resign over corruption scandal

If any truth to all this, could be argued that Richard Goyder had stepped in from a proper corporate environment and started calling out the boys club bullsh#t that Demetriou and Gill have been running...

But who knows

As Goyder served on the Freo board prior to his current role that wouldn't be surprising.

Stadium deals and broadcast rights say otherwise. He’s brought a tremendous amount of money into the game through deals he’s played a major part of. As CEO, he’s been very successful.
It doesn't matter who is in his seat there will always be those anti establishment types that say every CEO is s**t. No idea what metric they use to judge CEOs when they struggle with grammar and punctuation for the most part. Gill is fine in my opinion but I'm not in any position to make a qualified assesment of his performance.

Not an accurate assessment.
Re: Broadcast rights. From a financial point, it is the approximate value. He hadn’t achieved this. The broadcasters purchased a product the players, clubs and supporters created. He didn’t even have to invite anyone to tender, they basically lined up and started an auction. He did not increase the value or sell the rights for above value.
Re: money bought into the game. If he was the CEO of a corporation who’s charter it was to focus on the financial interests then yes. However the AFL is meant to manage the league, promote the game, safeguard the game and grow the game. He has not done this.
Don’t believe the hype brother. It’s like hiring a plumber to fix your toilet and he fixes your oven that was already working. Sure your oven works, but your toilet is still rubbish.

Who Is Jackson Taylor? Some bigfooty poster with a law degree? What is his interest in this?
He thinks that by proving the afl covered up s**t it will exonerate the essendon football club and it players, what it will do , it will show the AFL tried to cover up the extent of the drug taking, and further plunge the club into the mire it is sinking in,

It may also force change at AFL house, similar to what the corruption thing did to FIFA

The players are convicted drug cheats, it may force sanctions on the club for PEDs similar to the Astana thing in cycling, not the shot bringing the game lettuce leaf the club was hit with by the AFL.

It cannot, and will not exonerate the players, it will show the AFL for the corrupt and inept organisation that it actually is.

It's going to be awesome. Like when Breaking Bad ended then they spun off Better Call Saul. Hoping for some very nice surprises to come out during discovery.

Essendon the gift that keeps giving, I had a essendon supporter on Facebook tell me that by proving the AFL tried to cover it all up it will prove the players innocent, I thought they ran out of Kool aid but I guess not

The saddest and overall worst part is that they will only be confirming what everyone has known for years.

Exactly right.

It's amazing how many modern day football fans are brainwashed into ignoring the AFL's wider responsibilities.

Agree. To add to that, as I've said it before, anyone who runs the AFL and doesn't primarily aim to protect the tradition and keep it ingrained in society is an idiot. That's what the fans want and it's where the money is.

On the other hand, selling out to the highest bidder and stupid gimmicks to try win fans (especially in the southern states where people care more about the actual product which is the football) is a good way to destroy the footy obession that keeps giving.

......announcement was imminent

Cant wait to see the AFL get shown for what they truly are... just a top of town, big wig mates club where they all scratch each others back at the expense of our game.

Looking forward to following this case closely. Cant manipulate and stage manage the court process, cant pay "hush money" this time.... AFL muppets. EAD.
