You haven't named names but your ascerbic comment was to my post which was part of a discussion with CB17.
You taking my post it out of context and then responding to my post with a troll comment is your problem.
Being the first game of the season there are obviously posters from many clubs on the matchday thread.
BTW it's a matchday thread - Do you have anything to say or contribute about tonights game or do you just want to keep making comments about last years GF?
I'm just asking because none of your posts on this thread have been about tonights game and you seem to be so concerned about relevance.

Chill out Filth, been reading all the way thru, tired of Posters derailing the match day thread, especially Pies supporters
Read a few of yours and your no saint with the irrelevant posts which have been replied to by Tigers supporters
And my post was far from "harsh," "bitter," or "unpleasant." (Acerbic)
The game itself was scratchy at best, both sides played well for 2 quarters each
Would have been better if AFL put the Pies v Cats game on but it is what it is

I'm honestly horrified by this post. Our club makes decisions about what information to release about injuries and illness taking the players right to privacy into account. I'm sure other clubs do the same.

To assert that gambling is more important than their human rights is very disturbing.

It has absolutely nothing to do with human rights.

No one has is forced to play AFL, and the only reason footballers earn anything, let alone the extraordinary amounts of money they do, is because they have chosen to be part of an industry which is funded by and relies totally on public exposure and interest in how they have, are and will perform on the field. Every cent they make depends on them putting up with a degree of scrutiny and attention in their work place which would be intolerable to an average joe- in fact it's that level of attention from viewers which pays their wage.

No one thinks there is anything remotely inappropriate about reporters asking questions or speculating about player injuries, even though that would be a gross invasion of privacy to someone not in the public eye - so why not just totally demystify the process and put everyone on a level playing field.

Tigers are like the hawks in that it’s about team and sum of all parts. Rance has gone down. Someone steps up. There is no other way.

Based off what exactly?

Your team has been mostly the same for two seasons.

To compare it to the Hawks who were constantly changing things and still winning flags is laughable.

So you think when you choose a career your basic human rights are on the table? Because it would aid people who wish to gamble

You do realise they don’t know for certain until scans are done that he’s torn his ACL right?

Gibbons tried hard tonight and will do so all year. Definitely looks like he’ll add something.

But boy do we lack a small forward who can just make things happen at ground level. It’s tough to watch at times because we had Betts for so long as well as Garlett and Yarran. All three were dangerous around goal and worried defenders. Finding a player like that is a must. Every good team has one or more.

Didn't you have one last year, think he was a rookie that was a genuine small forward? Forget his name and I should know it.

the vision was pretty gruesome, you can see something in his knee pop

Wright?

Even if Rance has done an ACL I'll wager he plays again this year.
Would be huge!

Goldsack did it last year, right?
yes, recovery time from ACL's seem to be shorter than the past, I think they do something different now and dont hack at the hamstring (could be completely wrong just remember reading it somewhere)
Goldsack did do his preseason though

Much easier to replace your mid range players as you can bring in similar types who can do just as good or in Collingwoods case last year a better job. Bit different if you lost Sidebottom or Pendlebury or de goey or Grundy however you didn’t, you lost players like Dunn.
Losing an elite player like Rance is much harder to replace than losing a bunch of middle tier players.
Still that’s the challenge that awaits us.
Without wanting to respond - I wasn't making reference to "elite" players.

What I referred to was the loss of key defenders - not just one but several at the same time. Your first choice, second choice, the next replacement after that etc etc. Then you start swinging players from other parts of the ground to fill the void.

Perhaps you remember last season that the Pies had to promote Jack Magden from the rookie list to replace Lynden Dunne.
Magden was a basketballer playing for the Cairns Taipans in the NBL in 2017. We drafted him in November 2017.
When Jeremy Howe was injured Magden replaced him in the side.
In Round 20 he debuted - against Sydney in Sydney at CHB - on Lance Franklin. His first senior AFL game.
We had Moore at FB but he was still proppy only a week back from his hamstring injury so they put him at Full Back and he broke down again during the game and didn't play for the rest of the season after that.
We lost the game by 2 points - Franklin kicked 6 goals.
Magden then played the next 3 games - and was injured just before the finals. (Replaced by Goldsack who as you know hadn't played for a year after a knee reco.)
So when your side has seasoned footballers and backups to play key positions and they all go down with injury it affects the team - elite or not.

That and the fact they have to keep adjusting as a defensive unit because they haven't been able to string games together playing together.
No Dunne, Howe, Scharenberg, Goldsack, Reid, Crocker etc etc.
We had to play Oxley in the last three rounds of the H&A season alongside Magden. (We delisted Oxley at the end of the season.)
Also played Nathan Murphy in the last two H&A games - a rookie forward in his first 2 games - as an interchange on a wing so that we could play a midfielder in the half back line - because we had few replacements - even Appleby was injured at that stage.

So Yes - it is easier to replace your first 22 mid tier players - that's of course if you still have fit players to replace them with.
It was our rucks and midfield that kept us in the hunt last year.
That and players like De Goey and Cox who had breakout seasons.
Not bad for a side that most had pegged as a bottom 8 side at the start of the season.

Now.....
Again...
This is a Richmond game day thread - but all these Richmond posters want to talk about Collingwood. Get a membership seeing as you are so fixated on the Pies.
I assume this is because last year still hurts. Stiff.
You obviously want to vent and have a go at the Pies. Stiff.
Its a new season - get over it.
BTW - Best of luck for the season. :thumbsu:

Rance is injured. Hope he makes a full recovery. Hope his replacement steps up.
I also hope you don't lose too many more key defenders - because that is what happened to the Pies last year.
Elite player or not if you get to the stage when you have to play a rookie on Lance Franklin because you have no-one else left it does affect your team.
No excuses - just fact.

..I don't know what you think 'basic human rights' means but you're just wrong. For an AFL player to complain about scrutiny of something football related makes about as much sense as a pr0n star complaining about people looking at their junk. It's literally their job.

I'm not wrong

But clearly you cant see it. Luckily for you others can see the problem.

Prelim means more than any of the other games m8 you should know that and that was the last relevant game we played. We pantsed you. Even with an injury cursed list. Spanked you
And how many flags did you win last year? Please remind us all

Could they have blown any more smoke up the ass of an absoloutely bog average debut.

Walsh looked every bit the nervous first year player but they made it sound like he got brownlow votes. Can we just wait for him to actually play well before talking about how amazing he is? Sickening

With the Goat's knee busted and the Blues throwing everything at us, it would have been easy to fold.

proud of the boys and another 4th quarter special. They just go harder for longer, even when short on the bench.
It was one for the ages. Possibly documentary to follow.

Based off it has what Hardwick has said before and he was also an assistant coach under Clarkson. So clubs can’t adopt mantras from other clubs? And you realise all clubs change things up and recruit etc each year?
Are you the full dollar friend?

Help I'm being attacked!

Every team's gets trolled on Bigfooty. Most just let it roll off their backs. In this thread, people were giving Carlton as much shit as Richmond if not more. Didn't see a single Carlton supporter whinge about it.

Some of the Richmond lot definitely got worse ever since their first flag in 40 years (probably twice as long as their own lives).

I thought he did ok.
It was funny when he booted it out on the full and the commentators said how good he is and how he looks like he's been at the level for 10 years.

Well maybe Carlton's level :)
