Long way out, but I expect it to be very similar to how we approached this offseason:
- Draft number 1 priority - I expect a pick in the 1-3 range again which will net us Horne or Sinn who are generational mids.
- Hit Free Agency for someone in the 26 year old bracket in the Corr age mould. Unsure of what position yet, but given how early we started planting the seed with Corr, I imagine this will start shortly, if it hasn’t already. They must have leadership qualities.
- Identify which u22s we can target from oppositions. Stephenson lightning won’t strike twice, but I’m sure we can sniff out a couple more Atu’s/Young’s.
- Potentially Trade someone in the 28+ bracket for additional picks - getting an additional first in what is shaping as a super mid draft is unlikely, but if we can get another second, that’s a good result.
The messaging out of the club is pretty consistent in that draft is the big priority for 2021. Clayton, Luff, Rawlings, even Noble have all said it. They’ve also said that FA’s in that 26 age bracket will also be a priority. Not expecting results over night, this is a marathon not a sprint, but if we have another good offseason next year, the list will be in a really healthy place from a young talent perspective end of 2021.
