I don't understand why it takes a loss for Hannan and Scott to be dropped, given they've been at a consistently ineffective level for a while.

It’s like when they eventually dropped McNeil for playing the same game every week

These ratings to me correspond fairly well with how the players have performed this year. I know such ratings lists come up with regular head scratchers but apart from Astro and Keef being too low, not that much wrong with the order? Hopefully Bruce is good for our structure but not setting the world on fire apart from his 10 goal game.

I am seeing a lot of supporter's on our forum constantly piling sh!t on players to the point of obsession. Sick of hearing it.
What i have a problem is with who they are piling on without basic knowledge of a how a salary cap works.

In the English premier league big teams constantly plunder players of smaller clubs. Which prevents these smaller clubs from any real chance of winning the title. Leicester City going against the grain in 2016.

In the AFL/NBA we both have a salary cap (set at 13.4 million for the AFL ) which if correctly managed and with a high stand standard of drafts/trades any team in the AFL/NBA have a realist chance of winning the Premiership.
The way the salary cap gets handed out is very similar to the supercoach scorers( The short version is that winning your own footy and hitting targets when you use it are the foundation of a great SuperCoach scorer.)

The key to being successful with a salary cap is much like business, you have to pay for top end talent. But you also need the middle income earners and apprentices to do the menial tasks.
Looking at the below supercoach snap shot as just an example. But it should show a snap shot of how a salary cap must be managed.
rankings 1-10 you can expect to be paid the highest and players should have to perform to that wage/contract
rankings 10-20 should be your middle income earners.
rankings 20-32 should be your 1st to 2nd year players/minimum wage earners. your apprentice wages

So why do we constantly bash players like R.Smith and Lewy (to an obsession) who are earning comparative wages to an apprentice, when players like Zaine, JJ, Stef and Woody (3 premiership players) who would be middle income contracts, who are not playing to their standards get a free pass???
Wally is also a middle income earner and is also not up to his standards, but most def cop's it here.

Makes sense to start managing players say over the next 4 weeks regardless of who we play
Got bigger fish to fry coming up
As for this weeks team it has far more balance about it regardless of who’s in and who’s out
Tall forward structure with leg speed around it

Anyone listening to the Danny Boyd podcast this week will have heard Tom discuss the multitude of directions players now get from coaches and how difficult and confusing it makes the game. Can’t help but think of how many positions we’ve had young play over the last four years. Maybe he’s not a natural footballer or maybe he’s literally confused. I think the kid just needs a single position and a couple clear focus points. Would make all the difference.
From an outside poiunt of view, it does seem as though the coaches are giving him zero continuity and pretty zero chance of making it

So something like:

Defs: Keath, Cordy, Crozier, Dale, Williams, Duryea, Richards
Mids: Bont, English, Macrae, Dunkley, BSmith, Hunter, Roarke, Daniel
Forwards: Naughton, Bruce, Weightman, JUH, McNeil, Garcia, JJ

I think we've got one defender too many which will result in someone playing out of their natural position... The least worst option for that would be playing Daniel up the ground. Hopefully it's that rather than Crozier or Richards in the forward line.

I would have dropped Cordy to keep Young in defence, but can also see why he was dropped. He does some nice things, and I think his ruckwork is actually pretty good but most of the time he runs around like a headless chicken. Squibbing that marking contest wasn't a great look. Cordy is just too short and slow. Despite Young's limitations I think he's still a better option as 2nd KPD. I'm hoping either way they're just keeping Gardner's position warm.

I like Bruce as the relief ruckman with JUH still in the side. Mentioned this after the game last week. Also think McNeil is a great inclusion (also mentioned that last week) as our team was severely lacking pace against the swans.

I think Richards will play wing

I think that's right. Daniel seemed to play a good chunk of the last couple as a mid, even went in to a few centre bounces. With Libba out, that seems likely to continue as his replacement, Dunkley, will be more inside mid/forward than pure inside mid.

I missed a big chunk of the game last week (yay me) but the changes look great to me. Bev not ****ing around.

I've not been his biggest fan over the years but Roarke has certainly been in our best side this year, glad to see him get another go.

Roarke is a foot soldier but he's been fine when he's played on a wing so I'm cool with him coming in. I have to assume that McNeil is in the team proper since typically the medical sub in in the outs even if they play sub again.

Another club will offer Young a single position and the continuity he requires to give him the best opportunity to play the game.
