Preview Round 4 v Melbourne at Coopers Stadium (Norwood Oval)

The undefeated Dees come to Adelaide and instigate a flood for 3 quarters and don't score. They change it up at 3/4 time and play proper numbers at the contest and a forward line and they look a million bucks. Bizarre.

Also thought McKinnon and Gould did well in the ruck against Pearce before her injury. Well done to them. Marinoff, Hatchard and Erin were awesome. Newman demanded her spot. Martin seemed to be everywhere and led the tackle count. Simmons improved, but not sure she deserves a spot still. EJ was quiet; barely saw her.

Funny though because we look so dangerous when we are allowed to move the ball quickly by foot.

but against Melbourne, they have really fast runners and prefer the bigger ground with space. Plus, not sure our average kicking efficiency would help. Marinoff is fantastic in a contest and has quick disposal out of one. Hatchard has the big body for contests. Same with Phillips. I don't think we'd match it with teams that had more space to run and carry.

Crows prefer the contested game over a free running one.

Especially when trying to eek out a win given the outs, Demons were just stubborn wanted to bully inside with Paxman, Gay & Mithen and win it that way but stunk it up inside in the 1st quarter & their outside game was non-existent for 3 quarters with all their outside runners dropping back, all they did was cause an ugly match and still lose

One of the main reason I do feel teams get sucked into this style against the Crows is they’ve seen the improvement in running ability and use of the wings with Jones and Thompson, Brisbane got caught out trying to play on transition in the 2nd half and so did North in the 1st half a couple of weeks ago, since then North, WCE and Melbourne have just tried to slow down the ball movement and turn it into an arm wrestle so they don’t get caught out on transition which just turns it into a style the Crows have traditionally wanted to play over their entire history.

God the umpiring is so damn frustrating! HTB free kicks for every damn thing... except when it's actually holding the ball!

I actually really liked Whiteley at CHF. Did more there than Mules up forward. Funny how her and Biddell looked all at sea the last couple of seasons and then they swap positions and look absolutely natural.

Newman must hold her spot next week, was great. Najwa Allen had her best game of the year and the usual suspects were all very good (Woodland aside).

Should have won by 6 goals really.
