I meant it more from the perspective of not having much depth there. Cameron wouldn't want to get nicked up and have to miss games during the season because we'd be in a spot of bother.

McStay - rucked well in one of those finals when OMac got injured. Like for like with Cameron. I’d also be ok rucking Cox much more, still think he’s the bes tap ruck on the list (even when we hadBrodie)

Agree with medium to long term view but in the short term Mitchell is a great pick up. And with pendles, sidebottom and Howe in their twilight years we have an opportunity to go for a flag before the medium to long term plans kick in
Yeah that's fair. The Mitchell pickup is important if we're going to be a contender in the next two years. In that sense, Mitchell and McStay are the most important inclusions.

I have some reservations on Mitchell, but excited to see what he brings to the team over the next couple of years. I think Adams has greater flexibility and will be able to find a role around him. Definitely important to add the extra inside mid though, because Adams' health can't be relied on.

I like what Graham Wright has done. We will be relatively unencumbered in financial terms at the end of the next year. At the same time we have picked up a clearance specialist with excellent skills, two bookends and scintillating pace. We also have 3 picks in the top 27 improving our hand.
Expect to pick up a big name (Not Hrysoulakis) at the end of next year. Perhaps a ruckman 😉
I think Wright has done a very good job. Looking fwd to having Hill, McStay, Frampton and Mitchell join the fold.
Go Pies.

3. Mitchell - decent (best 22 mostly; age-; provides cover as inside mid, but not a great fit with Adams; lacks flexibility and impact)
Why don't you think Adams and Mitchell can't play together?

Adams Finally Gets some help in the Midfield getting Clearances.

Plus Adams coming off a Terrible Injury

Dave, it is a bit hard to play 2 slowish inside mids with not great skills, but both will be crucial next season.

Cox is very good ruck backup. I prefer his ruckwork to Cameron's. We then still have a few options for 2nd ruck.

Cox, Cameron, Begg, Mcstay, Frampton, Krueger. We have enough coverage in the position.

McStay - rucked well in one of those finals when OMac got injured. Like for like with Cameron. I’d also be ok rucking Cox much more, still think he’s the bes tap ruck on the list (even when we hadBrodie)

Cox is basically our only backup, from there we start robbing Peter to pay Paul as Begg isn't ready (might also be a KPD, not a ruck long term). Faye also not ready, maybe another year on scholarship / playing as an over-ager in the U18s competition?

McStay was brought in to straighten us up going inside F50, only a undersized chop-out ruck for short bursts at best, not a full time ruck.

Kreuger also supposed to be bolstering our forward line, again undersized and has no real experience in the ruck.

Frampton has always been a sub-standard ruck, hence the move to forward and now defender. Probably the third option still behind Cameron and Cox but not one you can expect much out of.

Like I said we're actually very thin in the ruck department now and with list spots being limited (can really only fit in three ND draft picks assuming we delist Magden this time around) we'd want the injury imp to stay away from our ruck division for sure, or we'll find ourselves suddenly scratching for an undersized part-timer to fill in much sooner than we'd like.

Rating our ins (note that I'm more focused on our list build in the medium to longer term rather than the short):

1. Hill - good to v.good (best 22; age++; gives us that quick, skillful small forward every team wants)
2. McStay - solid to good (best 22; age+; fills a gap at KPF, giving us time till we can recruit/develop others)
3. Mitchell - decent (best 22 mostly; age-; provides cover as inside mid, but not a great fit with Adams; lacks flexibility and impact)
4. Frampton - decent (cover, age++; starts as backup, but has potential to work his way into the 22; flexible cover as back/forward/ruck)

I think all the guys we recruited will be best 22 next year.

The only thing that stops that is if Will Kelly or Charlie Dean develops enough to keep Frampton out of the side.

Not bad bringing in 4 guys who will improve your best 22.

It’s a stone cold certainty we’ll bring in a 200cm player through the draft/ SSP. The only question is whether it’s a Scully/ Lemmey fwd/ ruck, a Murray as a developing ruck or a straight up state league option like Crossley.

Good to have both Adams and Mitchell imo. Not sure how much they play together, but definitely better than neither of them.

I actually think Adams or Mitchell get us to a Gf last season, and who knows from there

Agreed. I was at the SCG, and it was a game that either player would have won for us. We needed grunt and hustle, forward movement of the ball - whether you hand-balled or head-butted it no matter.

I think we made the best of the trade period that we could in the end, we overall as a team got better. We just need a decision on Poulter really now and we cant forget the signing of DeGoey that was big I thought, he did have a good look around but glad that he stayed as when it gets to games that matter it’s an important signing

Yep.

DeGoey signing brilliant. We do forget things like this after trade period

Gotta say I can't remember the last time I was this impressed with a trade period. We went all out to fix our deficiencies and got some ok picks in the process. If this year was anything to go by the players we've picked up will only improve under Mccrae. Add improvement to our younger players to this and we could be a scary team.

I reckon will be a good player for Geelong. Let's face it, after the sledging he was given in this and his own thread, if ever he was to view the comments and memes, he would have difficulty remaining at our club anyway. Now that he is gone, any guilt we may have felt had he remained is now swept aside. I really enjoyed the memes produced by Chrispiesssss today.

You’re welcome. Here’s another.

Ollie Henry realistically cost Geelong pick 25, 38, 48, 55, future 2nd and 3rd as well as Cooper Stephens (pick 16).
That's awesome, they also get credit for an assist with Mitchell to Pies
I'm shattered, Hope you posted this on the Geelong board :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:
