Prime Judd was a beast there is no comparison. And yes most likely just Pies fans and idiots like King. The more rational will admit he's a very talented player and leave it at that.

The "so called great" Judd at 21 years of age, averaged 1 goal per game. Nick last season at 21 years of age, averaged 0.9 goals per game. Those extra two goals in one season really make him "super great" compared to Nick? He also had almost 10 less disposals per game then Nick at the same age.

All this despite playing in a relatively better team, with the support of a better midfield, (Kerr, Cousins, Fletcher) and a better ruckman feeding him (D.Cox).

The other thing that gets harped on in this thread is contested marks by Nick.

Judd NEVER averaged more than 0.3 contested marks per game, in any one season. In fact, apart from a few seasons, he only averaged 0.2-0.1 contested marks per game.

I guess Judd is kind of average in the grand scheme of things, if we use the "goals" and "contested marks" as the same metric we use to ajudicate Nick Daicos.

Cue, Carlton supporters crying and laughing at this post.

You know Fadge isn't going to sleep with you, right? He's happily married.

That's all well and good, but it's been clearly established that it's impossible to compensate for taking 1 less contested mark every 10 games - it's why Buddy will always pale in comparison to Levi Casboult.

Judd took 84 contested marks in his career. Daicos 0.

This isn't just a potshot like some of the Pies fans in here think it is. Daicos has clearly struggled with a tag in the past as a lot of players do. One of the best ways to deal with it is to isolate the tagging player however Daicos can't do that because he can't win a 1v1 aerial contest.

It’s not the most important stat, it’s just a window into their soul. If you never take one, you probably never go for any which means you are soft. The Goat can’t be soft.

For example, Caleb Morton took 27 in his 6 year career and he would run away from contact.

Daicos has struggled with a tag, despite being tagged in most games he's played since the start of his second season, and averaging over 1.5 votes per game in that time?

You really are quite brilliant.

More just suggesting that you're not going to find anyone as damaging up forward as those blokes in th current era. The damage is done by giving forwards time and space.

I'm not judging them higher because they were forwards, more based on the impact they had during their careers

Lockett kicked more goals than anyone else, but isn't in my top 4

Will use a quote from you "what absolute rubbish".

Also are you really trying to say that Brownlow votes are the ultimate judge of a player?

He's definitely been tagged to good success since he moved from seagulling off half back and into the midfield. There's been a bunch of taggers that have gotten the better of him from memory: Bedford on the weekend, Maginness from Hawthorn, Berry at the Lions.

And right now he completely lacks one of the main assets to breaking a tag - moving forward and winning 1v1s.

Bedford gets credit for keeping Daicos to 17 possessions in the first half, and then he couldn't run in the second half.

Maguinness absolutely, and he duly received coaches votes for a 6 possession game. Well done, Finn.

Berry at the Lions? Here is his catalogue of games v. Brisbane:
2022 - 27 possession in his 5th game as a 19yo
2023 - 38 possessions and 2 goals (round 5)
2023 - 29 possessions and a goal in the Grand Final
2024 - 30 possessions and 2 Brownlow votes in round 4
2024 - 25 possessions, 2 goals and 3 Brownlow votes in round 23.

So you've mentioned 3 players, getting 1.5 right, in a 71 game career where he's been tagged in more than half of those games.

Daicos' answer to beating a tag over the last couple of seasons is to run his opposition tagger off their feet, which he has done on many occasions. The interrupted pre season he had means he wasn't able to do that on Sunday, but like the champion he is he tried to play through it.

No one impacts like Daics, frightening player, the most devastating in the comp, can't wait til he's fit again [emoji846]

It would be an absolute travesty if a player as soft as Daicos did become an all time great. Reckon he will struggle over the next five years with Collingwood going through their inevitable rebuild.
Heard the same crap about his old man in the 80s and guess what... people still talk about him [emoji38]

Anyone throwing shade at Daics for the things he doesn't do is either jealous or clueless or both

He's a wrecking ball, destroys structures and causes sheer panic out there

Coaches spend more time on Daics than any other player [emoji106]

How many of these one on ones happen deep forward these days and frankly if they did would you be silly enough to bet against Nick winning them - they don't have to be won in the air - get it to ground and it's a loose ball at ground level - who are you betting on against him in that situation.

Bont pretty easily

Judd had dodgy shoulders but he still actually took contested marks. How many has Nick taken so far?

Daicos pulls the 'injured' card when losing his battle imo

When talking about mids, I think we can all agree that contested marks are the best indicator. It's why I hope McRae comes to his senses and moves Mason Cox to first rover.

How can be considered a good player if he has "dodgy shoulders". Thank you for proving my point. 🙏

Jarrod Berry is a Mid/wing rotate player who tagged Clayton Oliver for half a game.
