No idea why I'm excited for the draft seeing as though we think we know what's going to happen.

Here's my most up to date list. I doubt I'll update it again unless I can find any more reputable power rankings or larger lists from the same.

Shits me that Cal Twomey hardly ever puts his balls on the line and goes outside of 20 or 30.

Knightmare do you have a power rankings showing more than just the top 20 available anywhere?

In my draft almanac thread.

Just have to scroll down.

ESPN I only provide top 20.

But knowing there is the demand on bigfooty, I have my 21-50 in the almanac thread on the phantom draft board. See post 3.

*November Power Rankings coming out in a few days and will update my 21-50 at the same time.

Would have been nice if Collingwood in 2017 had traded for Gold Coasts 1st pick which means we’d be sitting on pick 2.

Blues making a blue of sorts with Walsh.

We’d then go to market for.....
As John Locke said in Lost
“That would be Jack”

Lukosius would be a phenomenal fit if he joined Collingwood. Key forward, key back, wing. He can do whatever you want him to do. It's a bit like Grundy, his impact feels like the impact two players and it's the same with Lukosius - all that ground he covers, all the marks he takes and how he opens games up and generates scoring opportunities from kicks as far back as the back pocket. And he'll kick his share himself.

Other than Grundy, I'd give up any one player on the clubs list for him.

Moore/Elliott may have been a good combo to have offered Gold Coast last offseason for their 2018 first rounder.

I just hope selfishly Lukosius doesn't have to go to Gold Coast. They don't get the most out of their talent at a high frequency - see previous projected best in draft types in David Swallow, Jaeger O'Meara, Jack Martin. Then you can go through the first rounders and same story. It's not like they picked poorly, a lot of them did well in their first and second seasons, but other than a small few, just haven't taken those meaningful steps the kinds of talents they picked up would reasonably be expected to achieve.

Just out of curiosity, what is it that makes players slide or bolt at this time of year given no one has played for a month plus? Is it just watching replays of the lesser exposed? Or re-watching higher ranked players and rearranging? Or is it also a combination of what you're hearing on the grapevine?

In phantom drafts (predicting what clubs will do) it's hearing clearer word on where players are rated in clubland/what their intentions are. The closer to the draft it gets, the more you hear, because clubs may not be entirely decided until closer to the draft, or may hear someone they didn't expect may be available and you hear those rumblings.

In power rankings, others may be influenced by where clubs are rating talents. In my case, I rewatch matches of interest or matches featuring specific players of interest. One such example among a number in the past week is rewatching a couple of games featuring Jye Caldwell - as he has hardly played this year and has missed most of the past two seasons with injury. Caldwell is projected to go top 10 and having not seen him play a full game in a long time, I feel like I need that refresher. As a result, my upcoming November power rankings will see him rise.

I've learnt from experience, trying to blend power rankings with where players are expected to go in phantom drafts doesn't work, and often I've predicted early draft misses and should have been a lot bolder on those calls than I was, same goes with those early draft hits, late draft hits. So I've really moved my power rankings to a perspective that is entirely my own with no influences of where others may/may not rate various players incorporated - as I'm sure many would have figured with my rating of Quaynor outside the top 30 and Kelly outside my top 50 just to use a couple of Collingwood examples.

I've been a long time onlooker of Bigfooty but first time poster, I respect your judgement of young talent knightmare but to say you would give up any player on our list other than Grundy for Lukosious is crazy, Jordan Degooey is going to be a superstar, he had already shown he is a gun at afl level and there is no way any club would give up a player like that for an untried kid, there are also plenty of other players we wouldn't give up for n untried kid but degooey was the obvious one.

I reckon if you’re doing all this, always better go with your own views as you stand or fall on those.

Like race horses of the past i stick to my instinct on ranking or evaluating them. Just works better.

I love De Goey. He'd be that number two after Grundy.

But give me Lukosius if it's just De Goey straight-up.

Lukosius can become the best in the competition in the right situation - which Collingwood would be, and I'd say the same of Adelaide and West Coast with the way they have historically developed KPPs. He's the best I've seen come through the draft over my 10 years watching junior football.

Lukosius is Nick Riewoldt with an even sweeter kick and better vision than circa 2011 Ben Reid. He's special. And on any of those three teams has the scope to achieve that upside.

I reckon if you’re doing all this, always better go with your own views as you stand or fall on those.

That's what I've come to find.

There are misses. But there are sweet hits. Ben Brown drafted three years later after I called him a first round talent, Tipungwuti, Kyle Hartigan, both years after saying they should be picked, Liam Ryan last year after saying the year before he should have been picked.

There are misses as with Reece McKenzie and Waylon Manson who were two of my worst, but when you know they're going late or not at all, it means you don't have to cough up the early selection to get the guy you flat out love the game of. So having that different power rankings isn't a bad thing, and you can pin a player to a particular selection while getting some others you like earlier if you know they'll be available there.

Only way I cans see us Getting Him is IF Suns still a Disaster and he wants to be Traded in 2-4 Seasons

The rumblings are he's not keen to join Gold Coast.

Well then we hope Suns Pick Him.

Is he trying to do a Wingard who Tanked his Interviews to make sure he got to Port in the Draft?

This is what it says on the club website:
When are the 2018 AFL Draft and Rookie Drafts?
Thursday 22 November (7pm – 9.30pm): National Draft (Round One).
Friday 23 November (10am – 1.30pm): National Draft (Round Two onwards to conclusion).
Friday 23 November (5pm): Pre-Season Draft and Rookie Draft.

Looking forward to seeing how they pad out 2.5hrs of the first round. I don't mind watching the draft but I can see this being a massive snorefest.

I say the AFL will make sure the Whole 10 Minutes are Taken Up between Picks even IF they come in Early.

I don't believe so. He's a fairly reserved/lay back guy who I can't see going about things that way.

The belief of those I've spoken to are under the impression it's a privately held view with Lukosius.

That said, it was a privately (not publicly) held view of Adam Cerra that he didn't want to go to Fremantle, and he ended up there and has had a strong first season and I didn't hear anything about a request to be traded. So sometimes things change once you're there.

Well there where Rumors Cerra did want to come home from Freo but I guess they where False with him Re-Signing at Seasons End

Guess we will find out in time.

Could this be a Reason why Blues will go with Walsh over him Knightmare ?

It will certainly be interesting to see how it goes with the new format. We'll no doubt hear plenty of whinging if it does look like it's being "padded out" just to keep the show going for 2.5hrs!

I just love the draft, have long considered draft day to be my favourite day of the year, so definitely don't mind having two days of it!! But I can understand why some people won't be happy with this change.

Lukosius is believed to want to join Carlton. Same goes with Rankine who has been public in saying he wants to go pick 1.

I haven't heard about Lukosius wanting not to go to any club other than Gold Coast.

The issue with an untried player in a draft is they are st this point:

Potential.

Many at the top end will be very high level long term pieces.

The ongoing dilemma ofcourse is swapping known quality for unknown potential.

For us;

and let’s assume Lukosius does become Nick Riewoldt in career what would we swap today for that potential?

I’m happy moving fine players for such talent but not De Goey.
As De Goey is known elite level and just projects as too good to lose, in my view.

What if Lukosius is injury prone or doesn’t measure up or becomes only Fraser Josh level?

Too high a price for me.
