Is Preuss the stupidest AFL footballer in the comp? He pushed hard for the GoDees when every man and his dog were seeing no upside in it for him other than a few bucks, which he could have gotten elsewhere. GWS were always a viable option for him.

Not sure $1.5M for a guy with his CV is entirely stupid. Sets him up.

Apparently he is also happy to play second fiddle, sees it all as a job

Saints are delusional..maybe a bit like us under Scott, top up when you are not good enough to seriously contend. They are 7th and 8th material ..

Disagree I really rate their best 22. It is however lacking a little bit with depth.

They have good two way running ball winners in Ross, Steele and a few others, while their younger brigade still has a huge amount of upside...guys like Marshall, King, Billings, Coffield, Gresham and Clark.

Another Explosive mid like Higgins would suit them perfectly. Especially if they can get two years out of him.

Pepsi need to be ruthless and learn to make the hard decisions. If they want to be number 1 they should abandon the traditional pepsi and pepsi max brands, which will always be 2nd to Coke, and just start mixing pepsi with every fruit they can get their hands on in the hope that one of them will turn out to be a number one seller.

Ross, Steele ... Their great list of midfielders could go on ...

A couple of points spring to mind:

If they're still a viable option then you could argue he's the smartest footballer in the comp, as he would have picked up significant coin for doing nothing and then still progressed his career.

4 minutes in for North.

North had a 3 year with a trigger for a 4th at 800k for Brown

Yes , we definitely need older heads around the younger players. Otherwise they will lose a lot of confidence if we start losing by large margins each week.

Depends really. Could also be the case of emerging leaders time to stand up. Guys like Luke McDonald, Dumont, Atley, Simpkin, Anderson, have all been around long enough. LDU strikes me as a natural born leader as well. Some people (not just in footy) are just natural born leaders and want responsibility. In a footy context, who demands the ball when pressure on.....more and more the on field actions of guys like McDonald, Anderson, Simpkin and LDU suggest to me they want that responsibility. Even Bailey and Curtis, those guys back themselves in taking set shots. I don't necessarily buy into the needing old heads (care was captain at 21) thats what coaches are for, and a loss of confidence would be a result of a loss in believe in the coaches messaging and medium term plans.

Garry Lyon said this morning that was not the case (according to his mail) before Jobe's dad spoke over the top of him and changed the subject

Good to see not done and dusted as he would be a great addition a little concerned with the numbers being quoted though. There is abit of confusion as to whether he is wanting a premiership or whether he is concerned with the direction the club is taking and players leaving. We in theory can assist him in the second but the first be a hard sell!

If that is true, Brown should be sacking his management.

Honestly quibbling over the 4th year being set in stone as opposed to performance based.

Absolutely absurd.

Not saying the club are faultless here but if those figures and conditions are correct, Brown and his management have cost himself a lot of money for basically no reason.

It’s well before trade period.. wait till it plays out but I suspect he’s going to get more, that’s why they knocked back the original offer.

Was rumoured to have issues off field with us. Liked gettin loose.

Was left out of the squad that was taken to QLD by Melbourne.

He will take money from clubs and never produce anything that even vaguely resembles a consistent AFL career.

He's going to get more than $800-$850 a year for 3 years with a trigger for a 4th and media are running that he is worth a second rounder?

4x $800-$850 we are in 2 firsts as a minimum type trade.

Saad should sign on with * as has been reported over the weekend.
The reality is the deal from the scum isnt that bad and tbh there really isn’t a reason for him to leave.
Which Vic club can offer him a chance at success other than Richmond?

Melbourne is in the same position as * and they were never a chance to get him.
Carlton just doesn’t do trades with * and their offer was very meh. They really want Ollie.
The Tigers offer was basically pocket change. Smallest of the lot. Couldn’t guarantee him a decent deal.

As for us we offered the longest term and good coin but we weren’t able to promise finals. He just turned 26 and is about to enter his prime and our last four years has been mediocre.
We weren’t willing to waste our time with Dodoro unless the deal was agreed upon early. It’s a busy trade period coming up and we know our resources are best served elsewhere. Not gonna happen basket.

Poor bloke is stuck there but is really unhappy with the Club administrators.
The rebuild they underwent post ASADA is a flop and they have an unsettled playing list with senior players not happy with where they’re at.

Hopefully the days of us standing around with a bunch of flowers and our dick in the hand longingly wanting a "yes" from a disinterested candidate are over.

Aish, Cooney f**k even Karnezis.. feels like we were always happy to be the impish fallback option if all the preferred destinations fell through.

If Daniher goes, I think dodo will drop a million a year in front of him.
He’ll be seen as the missing piece.

It is possible that Essendon is in a worse position than us because they will get to where we are now but not for another season or two.
We will be ahead of them in 2 years.
