Let’s stick with a basic rule for this thread, that it’s for draft watch and discussion only.

It’s not for trade hypotheticals, who you think needs to be delisted or traded, how many games you think we will win, some other team will win, how many picks you want in the 1st round or discussion of current HFC players.

It’s about youngsters who are eligible for the draft in 2021.

Key dates to look out for:
  • NAB AFL Draft Combine: TBC
  • NAB AFL Draft: Wednesday November 24 - Thursday November 25
  • NAB AFL Pre-season and Rookie Drafts: Friday November 26

Rachelle as well. Will be a seriously loaded draft.

Top four pick and two picks in the early twenties sound good to me.

Hopefully we can leverage those second rounders into a top ten pick and take the KPF Van Rooyen (spelling?). That's if we don't have some options in the twenties that we love.

Which club is taking that deal though?

I understand the points scoring, but which club is in that situation this year?

It really depends on priorities and how clubs view the draft. For example, in 2015 the Western Bulldogs gave up Pick 11 and a future third for Picks 20 & 21 from Carlton. Carlton took McKay while Bulldogs took Dunkley & Collins. It is possible a team would be open to such a trade without academies being involved.

People need to worry less about trading up and taking specific types.

We are looking likely to have an early first and 2 early seconds.

All that matters is nailing 3 top 25 this year. Don't care if they are all key position players or none of them are.

3 talented kids to come in and develop moving forward, we do not need to fix all our problems through one draft.

Patience is the key going forward. Be prepared for plenty of frustration and keep ure heart medication handy if you have any cause you will be screaming all season long

Spot on.

This needs to be a 3/4 year process not 1/2.

We get greedy and we bottle it.

Don't stress about top picks as I get the feeling we will have another high pick next year minimum, possible year after as well.

As an example, are you saying you'd rather Pick 4 + 22 + 25 (give or take) than trading those 2x 2nd Rounders & having say Pick 4+ Pick 13?

Nah more or less just saying don’t get caught up with things that ‘need to happen’

Plenty of talent can be found in the early 2nd round. So if we get a chance to trade in to the first round again, cool. If we take 3 picks in the first 25, also cool.

that and also ‘we need to take ‘x type of player’ with our first pick is also something that is getting overly focused on.

We need most positions filled at the moment so best available with all early selections and worry about the rest later.

He’s a rare talent.
Can see it now. North get pick 1 and trade it to GWS for picks 5 and 8 and pick up two solid citizens who play 200 games and zero finals while Horne becomes the player of his generation at whichever club GWS trade him to after his first two years.
