Autopsy Autopsy vs GWS - like one of those trains in the subcontinent, far too many passengers

Apart from Trembath having a great debut, not sure we learned much from that. We already knew that this heavy press gameplan only works if all the players pushing up are doing the work to keep the ball contained, and breaks down in really predictable and glaringly obvious ways whenever we let it get out the back to the loose men they've worked harder than us to create across the length of the ground. Same was evident again today even before the scoreboard began to tip their way, there was a passage of play where their handball came unstuck but they had a wave of runners around the ball whose notional blue-and-white opponents were dawdling inside our attacking 50 still.

We also already knew that we look more like a competent football side when we do well in clearances, but that this is only apt to actually win us things if we can dominate there so thoroughly that they don't get a look in, because the aforementioned defensive failures mean scoring the other way is always easier than our own scoring. We also already knew that we get the small club treatment when it comes to umpiring, so when we actually did bring the kind of pressure in the 4th that should've been consistently there from the start, it went basically unrewarded.

Individually, nice signs here and there - in addition to Trembath, Payne's debut was pretty sound too; Harvey's leading and space-finding up forward is great; Wardlaw I thought had a subtly impressive game, more deft than the usual mania and put that to good effect. Others less good - Zurhaar really poor, Teakle basically confirming not to persist with him in the second ruck/forward role. But there's nothing about the ways our system continually breaks down that suggests to me we're doing any of the learning and developing that supposedly excuses it as a necessary interim step - loose opponents everywhere is a catastrophic structural collapse that should only happen when things go egregiously wrong, if the gameplan is so flimsy that it falls apart on nearly every turnover then I don't think it's the way out from where we're at. (And if it's failure to execute the controllables - the defensive effort and application side of it - then we should be seeing more players held accountable than we have been for that.)

Then how do you explain the same action being a free against North but play on to the opposition.
They umpires us that way because we are shit and they think that everything we do is an error and that our opposition don’t make mistakes.

You answered your own question. I hate it too but at this point in time there is zero reason for the AFL to have any sort of actual umpiring agenda against us since we do a pretty good job of cockpunching ourselves in every other aspect.

Bent over by umps again in key positions and just when we had a little run on. Apparently holding the ball doesn’t apply when we tackle.

Lot of passengers that shouldn’t be playing.

Teakle is a suburban footballer

Logue is a fraud.

Zurhaar disappears for way too long.

Whatever we are trying with Duursma just is not working.

Cooper Harvey on Greene? Really?

Konstanty, invisible.

Bailey Scott should be gone next season.

Hopefully next year we have a better run with injuries and we can have Daniel out of this side.

Some of the young kids showing the way with some effort and anger

And our game plan. The amount of times our opposition simply walk the ball out of defence with no pressure is farcical. I really don’t see what Clarko is trying to achieve.

agree for the most but zuurhar will always be a burst player, his return for a 3rd teir forward is well above average. i was pretty dirty on him but been a very productive year from him.

Not saying it was his best game or anything. Just saying I wouldn't really single any of the KPDs out today. They were under siege through no fault of their own.
Being a bit generous there Chad. Pink dropped a few marks he really should take.
Logue just flat out doesn’t compete.
Chom was like Pink in the marking department, possibly worse, and has spaghetti arms when tackling. He was a deadset turnstile today.

The game plan is for the absolute tip, leaving the defenders on an island, but you’ve still gotta nullify when the opportunity arises.

That is the very definition of umpiring with bias, because you are making a call based on a perception of the ability of a team and not what is actually happening.

These guys are meant to be professionals. Is it too much to ask for them to stop with guessing and applying double standards?

Just call what is in front of you and stop making shit up based on a biased opinion of a team.

I was disappointed with our first half, but I thought we are far more competitive in the second, it's just a shame the game was already lost.

Second time we get a young player concussed out of the game early by an elbow to the jaw, you just know there will be no repercussion's, i would actually be gobsmacked if the incident is cited, before declaring it a football accident and totally ignored.

The uncontested mark's we allow are criminal.

Did anyone else noticed how Xerri really struggled after he got a hit to his head early in the game. Commentators said he got something in his eye and l know he's coming back for a 3 week lay off but it looked like he had a slight concussion. He struggled to get off the ground on some occassions when he got knocked over..

Seriously Clarkson…what about admitting your team won’t or can’t play your way? For a bully you are pathetically weak dealing with this team. Stop letting the players make the ‘matesy’ videos, it’s not a ****ing boys holiday camp

Finn Callaghan raises a deliberate forearm to fend off Hardemann and concusses him. If it were a North player, three weeks, but I'd almost put money on Christian calling it no case to answer. That would be the 3rd or 4th North player concussed by deliberate actions of the opposition (LDU, Wardlaw...), and none of them have been deemed to have a case to answer. How Christian hasn't been sacked long ago, I'll never know. His inconsistency and bewildering justifications are staggering.

Because they pad out the stats on MRO findings by bullying teams they don't care about.

Its a joke competition. When's the last time we won an appeal?

Not unexpected. Margin inflated a tad in the end.

A lot of previously known issues. Pleased by the kids, less so by Leigh fisher.
Everything all going so well with the 4.5 win season and percentage of 72 😂

We’re shit.
