How does LJ keep flying under the radar? It frustrates me he doesn't get more games. A key forward who I would like to believe would work well with Tex. sigh.

I could see how a Jenkins, Walker, Johnston forward line could work. He would be a better option than Smack

For me it provides a better ratio of decent kicks in the forward line.. I think they need to devote far more time with the development of a naturally talented lad in LJ than trying to create something from a half decent canvas in smack and Jenkins. Jenkins got his pants pulled down in the ruck on Friday night - if he is too in our "best 22" then he must be taught how to be a forward or a ruck man, not both. What's the basics of a key forward thou? Play. In. Front. He's got a lot to learn.

This brings me to why naturally talented forwards such as LJ are hard to come by - whether his attitude or work ethic isn't great there is no doubting his talent. Give him 10 games and lets see how he plays and back the kid in.. just my 2 cents.

Would love to see him given a run and not just a token "dominate or you're back in the SANFL" game, a decent 5 game run to settle and see what he can actually offer us. He's natural forward, who is quick, agile a solid set of hands and rivals Walker in foot skills.

Amen brother.

I can only imagine the "1st" choice forwards who played this week would be on notice.

I think we must play Henderson or Johnston as that other option up forward to give Tex and Jenkins a bit of relief - hell even both of them, although that would likely mean Porps is squeezed out. Tactically our weakness was that we just weren't tall enough last Friday - effectively we just weren't strong enough at the clearances which could be hard to change with inclusions and exclusions.

On the henderson topic - he has to be made of ceramic?

Give Grigg a proper match in the SANFL, with form permitting, if there's a spot for him I'd happily let him have it.

Tambling to play petrenkos role?

Amen to that. Have advocated for this since he arrived. Has pace and aggression, sticks his tackles. Would be a real menace to opp defenders imo. Just tell him to chase and tackle manically, hed love it.

I like the idea of him getting to snag a couple sausages too... Could be the player we have been looking for...

Having said that, don't you think Sando would have given him a crack if he was any good there?

With a lot of people complaining that Tex is roaming too far up the ground, maybe Johnston would be a good option. He could be the one to push up the ground and become the link-up man. Has a beautiful kick and would probably set up our forwards quite well.

Bah....what would he know lol :p

But Petrenko's game is as a defensive forward to slow down and pressure the ball out of the oppositions defense

He's doing that well .....and we have no other player with exception of Riley who could do that role
Small forwards have nights where they'll kick goals and others where they'll be zip ......gee davey had 3 kicks only for 3 goals and 2 of those were from our turnovers and not his good play

Just think all his great work is being overlooked by some in favor of marks, kicks and goals??

Normally agree with a lot of what you say but not this time with Petrenko. Just finished watching the replay, all players in today's game must be prepared to harass and tackle or they shouldn't get a game. Yes Petrenko does this part of the game better than most but he didn't pick up one ball clean all night. He never looked like taking a mark or kicking the ball to advantage because he was always under pressure due to his fumbling. He fumbled a hell of a lot and it puts everyone under pressure.

When on song he is a valuable contributor but he needs to find some footy form. His great work at the moment isn't that great. Marks, kicks and goals are pretty vital for a mid size forward. Time to get multiple scoring options in the forward lines. Needs a spell in the SANFL, his attack on the ball and tackling needs to be supplemented with clean possession then he becomes a serious threat as a forward.

This team craves a Johnston type player ......Gunston offered that mobile leading tall marking third target
Gunston improved our marking capacity without slowing the side down .....when Gunston left Johnston was recruited to fill that void ....and in his absence Henderson provides that player type, but he's ideally suited to a wing position

But that all said Johnston has to earn a game and not be gifted ........he has to produce or our forward line becomes dysfunctional and aids in players dropping off Johnston to double team Walker

It's all up to Johnston .....the club really needs him to step up !!!

Has only played ...what = to a full pS game

Given his shoulder reco and recuperation we have to expect Pets to be not at the top of his game
IMO was rushed back in because his pressure acts was required and the club in short term was happy to sacrifice offensive acts .....just an opinion ;)

Jenkins is easily the most overrated player we have at the moment. I can't believe how much faith people have in the guy. I wouldn't trust him to get the job done at all. The only reason he's in the side is because our other forward options are either laughable (McKernan) or untried (Johnston).

Petrenko needs to go. He's nothing but a liability at the moment. I don't care if he's underdone, out-of-form, whatever, he needs a spell in the SANFL. Sando needs to take a look at Craig's tenure to see what happens when you pick favourites and continue to blindly put faith in players who constantly let you down.

How about the players who were actually to blame for Fri night....what do you propose happens to them?
