The hate for Murphy is pathetic around here, he wasnt to bad at all. He kicked a couple of nice goals and set one up with his desperation on the half back flank.
Threw himself at the ball and won it on the deck which resulted on a Peake goal in the 1st of 2nd qtr.

He stays, if he kicked 2 goals a week that gives him 44 for the season and thats plenty enough for me.

This is covered in the game review thread. We have no depth. Its hard to see how Head and Browne could justify an AFL spot in any team. I know we all hope that Browne turns it around and gets a through a season but I have lost faith in him already.

List clean out part two at the end of season....???

We still have 21 matches to put something together. We all knew we wrer going to struggle this season and it is gong to be developmental....

None of u guys think suban/hill will be dropped?
good for my dreamteam. Although i dont think Hill would have played if harvey didnt say he would 2 weeks prior.

Also sorry for your loss u guys did ok untill the last qtr.

Would you rather we beat you ??
I wouldn't think they;d be dropped if they're fit. We need to develop them up as safetly as possible. Next Match against Essendon so it can't hurt.

..another last quarter fade out. FFS

I love Brownes attack on the ball, and the way he gets about it, but his disposal cost us big time. head was the same, couldn't hit a team mate and gave it up too easily. Murphy could'nt get a touch and really didn't look like finding one, but finished off with two goals, so I think he will get another run next week, but certainly needs to improve in alot of areas.
Browne and Head will be dropped in my opinion, hopefully for Solly and Hayden.

Browne is too slow, too small and too shit. He would never get a game in ANY team that is in top 8 contention. He butchers the ball, he gets pushed off the balla and his complete lack of awareness for a guy who is 26 is unbelievable.

Would not be on any other list in the competition, let alone getting a game.

That's the stark reality of it. Not an AFL quality player, and never has been.

Am I the only that thought Crowley was absolutely hopless yesterday. Something like 9 possessions at 34% effeiciency.

Agree with alot of the comments about the others but for me he stood out with a performance that was simply unacceptable.

Awful.
That kick he did after getting the handball from Kepler was just shit.

He just had to get the ball over the top and Luke had the run

I don't think we'll see as many as 3 changes, I think 2 is most likely.

OUT: Head, Browne
IN: Solomon, Hayden if fit, if not then one of Broughton, Gilmore or BoB.

I also wouldn't be surprised if they drop one of Hill or Suban over Head or Browne, if this happens I will have given up hope entirely ffs.

I know we don't have a lot of depth but these guys need to know that when they dont perform they will be dropped. I would like to see Head, Browne, Drum and Murphy all dropped and maybe even Dodd. Would bring in Broughton, Gilmore, Solly, Bob and maybe Walters/De Boer.

I cant believe how we whinge about Browne Murphy Head etc

Mundy Pavlich Sandilands and Macpharlin to mention just a few were just as ineffective in the bulldogs game.

It will always be difficult for our lesser players when our top players give nothing.

We need all our top players porforming at a top level.Pavlich for example rarely performs in important games IMO

was that the bit where he kicked into the man in front? that was terrible.

Im assuming so.. and yes it was pretty ordinary...

But can someone explain to me why he wasnt played in the centre square?

There is so much wrong with this post I don't even know where to begin..

please go ahead. did any of them have a major positive input in this game not really. I am just saying we need these guys to play well every week.

Maybe it would help if they played in right positions

Here's how I'd line up against the Bombers (keeping in mind that I'm half a world away (though the game was on eurosport 2 thankfully) and have very little coaching experience indeed).

B: Greg Broughton - Antoni Grover - Roger Hayden
HB: Nick Suban - Luke McPharlin - Chris Tarrant

C: Garrick Ibbotson - Ryan Crowley - David Mundy
R: Aaron Sandilands - Rhys Palmer - Paul Haselby

HF: Dean Solomon - Matthew Pavlich - Brett Peake
F: Marcus Drum - Ryan Murphy - Stephen Hill

IC: Kepler Bradley - Byron Schammer - Paul Duffield - Michael Johnson

EMG: Gilmore, Hall, Dodd

Which basically means:
OUT: Dodd, Head, Browne
IN: Broughton, Hayden, Solomon

Tarrant did very well in defence and I think coupled with (if fit) Hayden, he can be a better link man than Head. Grover is a much more at home in the back line, with McPharlin, Grover, Tarrant & Hayden there we've got a very strong back line with the ability to support new kids Broughton and Suban (another good clearing left boot there).

In the middle we need the quick, clean hands of Haselby, who I thought had a very encouraging return to footy. Together with automatic inclusions Sandilands & Palmer, that looks pretty okay on paper. Crowley wasn't his Ablett-destroying best, but we do need him and he's got enough credit to have one bad game. We need him to step up though. Ibbotson & Mundy are all class. Their accuracy with their disposals is so important. our kicking into the forward line (well, all over the field to be honst) wasn't up to scratch. These two are good enough to deliver the ball to the forwards to advantage for a change.

Peake showed some good sings, and although I hate it when he runs in circles, he looks to be heading back to that '06 form. His running goal was spectacular. Solomon delivers. Always. His defensive pressure is first class. Let him be our physical presence in the forward line. And please Harvey, play Pavlich as CHF. He's one of (if not the) best CHF's going. He may be a good midfielder, but we need him to be brilliant up forward in stead of good in the middle. Thank you. Remember that game, I forgot which one it was, but it had a young kid playing forward, and kicking 4 goals. That was Drum. With Tarrant being a gem down back, there room for one extra tall up forward. I think Drum should get that gig. Grover and McPharlin are too valuable elsewhere. That leaves our FF and a crumber. I'm not impressed with Murphy and his attitude, but with Campbell out we don't reallt have another option. Let him stay at FF though. He brings an accurate set shot and nothing more, so exploit that. I'm a bit undecided about the crumber job. I want Stephen Hill to play, and didn't know who to take of the bench to put him there, so in my team he's free to roam the 50 as a crumber.

My bench has Bradley, who's definitly cemented his place in my 22. Schammer, who's tenacity I love. Duffield, who deserved a second game, but is border line. And Michael Johnson, who needs to believe in his own talent again, and should be played across HF.

That leaves the emergencies as: Gilmore, behind Kepler as back up ruck and not accurate enough for me. Hall, too young and skinny, but a pat on the back for a good WAFL game. Dodd, tries hard, but decision making kills us. Would be in the team instead of Crowley if he hadn't had a shocker himself.

I like Browne's attack on the ball, but he needs to be cleaner. I like Head's range, but he needs to be a lot cleaner, so they're off to play WAFL this week.

I hope we scrap the zone, if we can't execute it properly. And I pray Hayden is fit, because we have no proper back up for him. If he's still out injured, watch small forwards shred us. Thanks for reading ;-)

It was mentioned in another thread that Hayden has done a hamstring, can't find any confirmation on it though.

In: Solomon, O'Brien, Broughton
Out: Head, Browne, Murphy

I'm not sure how O'Brien is in regards to his injury, has there been any more news on him? But my thinking is that a half fit O'Brien will still offer more heart and attack than Head and Murphy combined.

Solomon is the obvious inclusion, while Broughton deserves his chance after Head's spectacular failure.

Harvey said it in the post match media conference.

Am I the only 1 that thinks Harvey might drop Hill, thinking his body isn't ready for AFL yet?

I think he'll get one more shot IMO. I was having a read through some of the WAFL reports and Broughton seemed to play quite well and got 26 odd touches so he is right on his hammer. I think Broughton should be playing already though.

Gee you know your stuff for a Crows supporter who doesn't even live in Perth. :thumbsu:

I know Murphy was played out of position a bit and on the bench but thats because he has struggled up forward for so long. He kicked 2 goals at the end when the game was over and the pressure was out of the game. Another pretty poor performance IMO and if he keeps getting picked it wont change. I know he can kick but thats about it.

Also I agree that pavlich and mundy and mcpharlin played pretty bad too. But that is a rarity where as murphy its every week. Plus their bad games were still much better than his average game. Time to go to WAFL and he can take browne, drum and head with him.

Only one change for next week, I doubt they'd risk Hayden after a Hamstring tear.

In: Solomon (especially against Essendon and for Tarrant's 200th)
Out: Head
