Drop Mayne?? GTFO. Heck lets drop Pav too, he can have a run in the magoo's until he's learnt his lesson.

I won't be renaming the thread, btw. unless there's an identical type of utility playing every role on the ground wasting away at WAFL level, no.

Chris's said it best re: Pearce & Roberton, he's not suited to the sub role. He's not an impact player so he's not going to bob up and scoop up the ball and slot it from 55m at any critical stages. Pearce's game wasn't the worst and i'd be content to see Crichton come in and be given a fair chance with a running role and not a shut down role that he thought he was supposed to be doing in his last game.

There's no point in bringing Jack in to play him out of position. If we bring him in it should be to shoulder some of the forward workload with Keplar. He'll draw defenders and allow Balla and Mayne the freedom to crumb.

Dropping Mayne is a silly suggestion, but at the same time, he can't be our main marking target. His work at ground level is superb, and he should be treated as a small forward with marking ability. Not an avenue to goal.

It won't happen, but Pav should play up forward and Palmer through the middle.

I agree with you there. Put Pav up forward, let him play as a strong marking forward and pack crasher. Again, he'll draw defenders and allow our smalls the freedom to work.

Palmer should be in the middle. He's an outside runner, let him do it. Give him the opportunity to regain his confidence.

Your evidence is flimsy. Inaccurate this year? Yeah, he's been playing midfield. Lack of contested marks? So what.

Our forward line was far more efficient last year. Pavlich is playing like a hack through the middle. What's your solution? Get Leigh Matthews?

We've been close to being beaten in all our games except 2 (Adelaide and North). There is a different intensity in that Adelaide game than we saw against Richmond.

We've been rather ordinary and rather lucky this year so far. We just need to hold on until we get Barlow and the others back and then hope they hit it running.

I'd like to see Harvey mix it up a bit and keep Pavlich forward. Try Mayne down back, get rid of MiJo/Ibbo/Roberton/Pitt, bring in JoAn.

Watched Pavs kick at goal in the first. He is not kicking straight thru the ball like he used to. Right leg ended up pointing to left hand point post after follow thru. That's why his kicks are going right. Same effect as a slice in golf. It's natural for the leg to want to rotate around the central axis when kicking. This is more likely to happen when fatigued.

Mayne on the other hand had good technique hence his misses were not far off. Lent back a bit on the second one in the first quarter as did VB. This will cause a loss of direction control. Follow thru looked ok though.

Whilst frustrating our misses weren't that bad as far as direction. Pav has the most to fix cause not kicking straight thru is a killer.

Hey, you know what? we conceded alot of goals.

Out:
McPharlin
Grover
Broughton

In:
Faulks
Sibosado
Anthony

Out: Johnson, Palmer

In: Anthony, Michie

There ain't much left for us to pick from we need Mzungu, Hayden and Barlow back and fast.

No senior players should be dropped this week (but MJ is the exception to the rule). We will need the experienced bigger bodies to take the hits of a demo derby. But if Harvs has given clues that there will be some changes after some crepe performances, who will get the axe? Palmer and Johnson are the only 2 who are on thin ice IMO.

In the years gone by Harves has traditionally bloodied some young-guns to show what they have, last year i think it was Bollenhagen that got a run and did quite well. Wouldnt be surprised if the top performing WAFL player got a gig, correct me if im wrong but that would be Anthony or Michie.

If the talk is getting Pav into that CHF position again do we have Mundy, Fyfe, Lower and Palmer back on the ball? We need to have good on-ballers roving and sharking to get that 1st use of the ball as i can't see 211 winning 40+ hitouts again against Nicnat and *****.

Does Crowley get his spot back to get the number 1 tag? Without a game in the WAFL this w/e his effort at training this week might determine his spot back in the side.

I would like to think that Pearce and JVB have done just enough this week to earn another run, they werent the worst performers and i thought both contributed where it counted. Pearce still needs to trim his thighs down another few inches to give him some speed, he must be carrying at least a 10kg extra on each leg. ;) The only good thing about it is now they give him a roost of a kick!

If Fyfe or Ballas are out, that will severly reduce our chances of winning. we need BOTH of them to get back up and play :(

I'd guess Kepler and Ballantyne will be fine for this week. Fyfe's a smaller body, so I'm hoping he comes up, but not fully confident.

Out: Johnson, Pearce, Pitt, Lower.
In: Michie, Anthony, Crowley, Schammer.

Crowley must play as the tagger. He has great endurance and needs to sacrifice his own game to shut down Shuey or Priddis.

Palmer would be an ideal sub.

I hate Schammer, so it pains me to say we may need him. He's getting 20+ touches a game in the WAFL and it may be time to give him a couple of weeks.

Kepler at CHF, Anthony at FF.

I liked Palmer's gut run centre clearance in the 1st or 2nd qtr, he just needs to do that more each game.

I don't want to see Creepy back into the side without having a run for subi, he hasn't learnt anything by having a week off the field.

If Ballantyne is out injured - fingers crossed he isn't - what change do we make? Walters is still listed as a week away, which only really leaves Crichton as a HF/Mid. Crowley really needs more time in the WAFL IMO. With Silvagni injured, there is no replacement for MJ at the moment and WC are too tall up front without him.

Harvey has stated he's pretty happy with the backline but wants some more firepower up forward. Personally I think reshuffling what we've got, may be a better idea than big changes. Plus, given our injury list, I'm kind of inclined to let the guys who played on Saturday, make amends for it this week themselves.

Firstly, just move Pavlich forward. Secondly, move Palmer into more of a midfield role and increase the responsibility given to the likes of Fyfe, Hill, Mayne, Lower, Palmer, Ibbotson, McPhee, DeBoer, Pitt, Pearce, JVB and Co.

B Johnson - Grover - Broughton
HB Ibbotson - McPharlin - Duffield
C Fyfe - Lower - Hill
HF Mayne - Pavlich - Pitt
F McPhee - Bradley - Pearce
R Sandilands - Mundy - DeBoer
I Palmer - Roberton - JVB
S Crichton

B Johnson - Grover - Broughton
HB Ibbotson - McPharlin - Duffield
C Fyfe - Lower - Hill
HF Mayne - Pavlich - Pitt
F McPhee - Bradley - Pearce
R Sandilands - Mundy - DeBoer
I Palmer - Roberton - JVB
S Crichton

Which fit players miss out this week?
Schammer, Anthony, Michie, Sibosado (R), Mellington, Faulks, Crowley

The way I see it, there are about 10 fit players for the last 3 spots and a number of them don't work positionally

If Ballantyne misses it'll be like this (would drop johnno except for who?)
In: JA
Out: ballaz
Mayne to play ballaz' role, JA to play maynes

If fyfe misses,
In: JA
Out: fyfe
Mayne to play fyfe's role and JA to play maynes

If ballaz and fyfe both come up,
In: JA
Out: Pitt
Roberton starts in Pitt's role, JA to Maynes pozzie, Mayne to sub.

Unfortunately I think we have out best 22 out there from what's available...

B Duffield - Grover - Broughton
HB Ibbotson - McPharlin - McPhee
C Hill - Lower - Pitt
HF Mayne - Pavlich - Bradley
F Griffin - Anthony - Ballantyne

R Sandilands - Mundy - Fyfe
I Palmer - Deboer- Crowley
Sub Pearce

In Anthony Crowley Griffin
Out Roberton Johnson JVB

OUT:Roberton Pitt Pearce
IN: Anthony Griffen Crowley

Roberton cant run out games even when subbed in. Pitt to get some Wafl game time. Pearce unlucky.

Anthony Full Foward Bradley CHF. Griffen in to help Sandilands against an in form Cox n Nic Nat. Crowley to resume no.1 midfield tagger with Deboer n Vanberlo to play defensive roles forward n back. Still can not understand y Crowley got dropped against Richmond would of iced a cotchin or a nahas.

Can't drop 3 runners to bring in 2 talls & Crowley who's shown he can't keep up with the speed of this years games. I'd like to see Pearce stay in as this is the closest thing to a WAFL game he'll see all year in the WAFL having played against most of these guys on Basso oval!

I wouldn't be against bringing in Griff & Anthony but only if say Johnson got dropped otherwise we'd be too tall and dropping our overall possession count.

In: JA, Michie, Griffin/Crowley if Ballas unfit
Out: Johnson, Pitt, Roberton/Ballas if unifit

Kepler can play as a permanent forward where he has been very good this year. Sandi/Griffin can rotate between ruck and up forward to stretch the eagles defense with JA/Mayne/Ballas (if fit), JVB etc working up forward.

Defense will be McPharlin vs Kennedy, Grover vs Darling, Broughton vs Lecras, Duff helping out down back.

McPhee will be either tagging in the midfield or playing back if they go really tall or one of the others need a chop out. Pav and Mundy as offensive midfielders (good clearance players and the eagles don't have the pace to exploit them like Richmond did) and deboer tagging Kerr, palmer working only through the middle and off the bench.

Hill, Lower, Fyfe, Mayne, Ibbo, Michie working off the flanks and through the middle when necessary.

Sub will be Pearce or Roberton if he plays (would prefer someone faster but have no quicker options who I wouldn't want playing the whole game)

Not sure about the Griffen inclusion. He has been in great WAFL form, which should be rewarded. And if you were going to play 2 ruckmen you'd do it against a top heavy team with 2 ruckmen of their own.

But having said that, I think our best chance to win this game will be through exploiting their too-many talls and out-running them in the 2nd half, much like the 1st derby of last year (and much like Essendon did last week). If Pav played forward we could stretch them there too but just don't see it happening going by his comments during the week.

Including JA will give us the flexibility to swing either McPhee or Jack himself down back if necessary.

I would like to see Pitt earn his next game via the WAFL. He's done well at times and is obviously a player of the future but I've felt he's had a bit of an armchair ride at times, considering a couple of his games have been a bit average in terms of effective disposals. If Pitt is relegated, I'd expect to see either one of Michie or Mellington get a gig - still young but bigger bodies more equipped for derby fever (plus we need to keep developing players).

After another 6 disposals, 2 clangers and absolutely no positive impact on the game, I'd drop Johnson. But with our injuries, it's not going to happen.

Roberton had an absolute shocker and has only played a couple of good games this year. Time for him to realise what that means.

IN: Jack A, Michie/Mellington.
OUT: Pitt, Roberton.

* If Ballas doesn't come up, Crichton to come in changing with Palmer between HF/mid.
