Where was I knee jerk in my post? I never said Jones was a hack. All I asked was whether there was anything wrong with Brett Jones as he has been very reliable in the last few seasons. Is there anything wrong with that?

There are a number of players - Fletcher, Seaby, Staker etc. - who were rubbish most of the time last year and seem to have continued on this year. They deserve every bit of criticism they receive as they are senior players that are expected to show the kids the way. Brett Jones does not belong in that group IMO BTW.

Today we were not competitive for a couple of reasons. One was the side we were playing was superior to ours no doubt. The second one was that the team didn't do the basic 1%'ers; stuff you would expect the under 19's to do. While we probably would have lost (I certainly expected we would) we got belted because of the second reason.

IMO there is room to ask questions in a situation like this whether you like it or not. Isn't that was a forum like this is for?
"Is it attitude, or is he just finished?"
That is a knee jerk reaction.
Question, how many eagles games do you watch?
How much of your opinion of players is based on the opinions of those on this board?

Well then super coach how many games you want to give them? Staker, Seaby, Fletcher, Embley, Hunter, Nickoski?????

No one called anyone a hack, I called Staker a goat because he is one.

We have had more 10 goal plus quarters kicked against us in the last 25 games than we had in the first 20 years. It needs to be addressed now, today. Not tomorrow.

Your comment on jones is exactly why it is hard to read your tripe, He has been servicable at best, he has never been good. He would have had more goals kicked on him than any backman in the last 5 years, not to mention the amount of times he try's to take on the opposition and then turns it over for a goal to be the end result.
Bottom line is I like Bones and he does try but this board needs to stop trying to make players better than they are, he is a servicable backman. Nothing more, nothing less.

But you want to keep posting your abuse then thats fine. The players have had truck loads of chances, or do you work in years not games.

Its just to hard with idiots like you. Wouldn't know one end of a football from the other.
He came 7th in our club champion award ahead of cox and lynch in 2007.
He was widely regarded to be a genuine AA chance in the first half of last season before a form slump and injury.
More goals kicked on him than ANY other defender in the last 5 years?
Do you think before you post, or is it an impulse to make a fool of yourself?

People are entitled to their opinions without being abused.

Just because someone says a bad word about Brown it doesn't mean that they are a "joke of a poster".

It's not a knee jerk reaction being embarrassed by todays result. Anyone who's not embarrassed and doesn't see the need for change(in whatever area neccessary) needs to have a long hard look at themselves.

We dominated against a Port Adelaide side who played absolutely terribly, there's no denying this. We should have won by 80+ ponts.

I agree with you Brown was pretty good today, but seriously just because someone doesn't share the same opinion, there is no need to lay abuse their way.
Again, i am not supporting or condoning mediocrity, I am simply questioning why posters feel the need to jump on the back of players, proven players, asking if they are 'past it' after one bad performance. What the hell is wrong with that?

Not at all Mitch, if you go back to an earlier post i said that we should retain the same side and make these guys have to stand up and be accountable for their performance. Ask them to see if they can turn it around.

I think you're spot on here and I've just posted a link to an article on Worsfold's press conference after the game, where Worsfold says players need to tell him they can fight back from that performance or ask to be dropped.

We may need to bring in a couple of more midfield rotations, I don't know, but another Butler running through the middle or a McNamara solely for blocking, bullocking or handballing (bit like the rojo role).

Who is your first choice player to be dropped for Round 4?

After the Eagles shellacking at the hands of the Saints, it would seem obvious there will be some changes to our starting 22 for Round 4 against the Bulldogs at Subiaco. So who is your first choice player to be dropped?

But you also said...

If changes are made and I guess they will be then these would be mine.

Out

Fletcher - Ask him to retire from AFL Skills are a disgrace.
Jones - Not an acceptable performance, to loose and does not know what to do with the ball when he gets it.
Embley and Hunter - Premiership was 3 years ago, stop reading your own press and actually do something.
Hansen - Can't mark above his shoulders, to slow.

Bit confused by your thinking.

You don't think changes should be made, but if they are made... you want 4 changes?

Davis and Fletcher are the turnover kings. Just those 2 cost West Coast atleast 6-7 goals on the rebound after their turnovers yesturday. Plus they did nothing good going forward either.

That is a knee jerk reaction.

In what way is that knee jerk? IMO he has been a decent player in the past few seasons. This season he is left out of the first game (when fit) and then has played two mediocre games. IMO that leaves room to ask questions without knee jerk, abusive reactions from posters such as yourself.

As for how much I watch....what sort of crap is that? I watched most of the games last year and have watched all three this year. I've been following the Eags since 1987. Sometimes I agree with other posters and other times I don't. That make it any better for you?

OUT: Mckinley, Hansen, Rosa, Fletcher, Embley, Masten

Rosa and Masten will form part of the nucleus of our midfield for many years to come. There is absolutely no benefit in having them playing at WAFL level while they could be playing and learning alongside Kerr.

Every game sunshine.

My opinion would never ever be based on what is written on BF, enough said.
You have yours champ I have mine, I see mine as in todays time not in the past, mine as realistic not in a fantasy world. you see it different. good on you.

The players are paid to produce, full stop.
They don't get an option of having a day off, we had a minimum of 10 players yesterday who did not give their all. that is not acceptable. the loss is acceptable because if your not good enough then so be it. But players cannot choose which day they wish to give their best. those types of players you **** off immediately. or in your case sign up for a 10 year program, it will all happen in time blah blah blah.

Maybe it is I who should be asking if you have watched any games or in fact watched any football at all. Please!

Bones was left out against Brisbane for matchups. We didn't rate their small forwards and it cost us. They didn't have an ideal medium forward to match up on.
Bones had a good game last week. Got 18 touches at 82% effciency with 7 marks, whilst Ebert was kept goalless?

Asking if a player is 'past it' after one, count it, one bad game, is a knee jerk reaction.

I was asking how much you watch as your location is the Netherlands. There are lots of posters on here who base their opinions on those of others as they don't see enough of the games to form their own opinions.

Sorry, was I replying to you or the guy posting from the Netherlands?
After that, and your analysis of Mitch Browns game, perhaps your eyes are at fault?
With that mantra, would you drop Cox, Glass or Kerr if they had a few bad games?

Mate don't bother let them kneejerk. They will be the first to jump on the bandwagon when we get our next win.

BJones is one of our first picked players. He had an off game. He wasn't alone in that. We can't ship off every player who has a bad game Football just does not work like that.

OUT: CHAD FLETCHER!!!!!!!!, Hansen

In: Kennedy, S Selwood

Seriously, Is there any eagles supporters on here who think it is worth even giving Fletcher another game? He is all too often the seagulling lurker who stuffs up some good hard ball gets with substandard disposal. Surely its better getting one of the kids in there like swift or selwood and watch them make a few errors while they adjust and get better, rather than seeing this hack make the same mistakes, maybe worse?

Yeah he got some touches against port but they were insignificant.

Someone please make a case for him, because I am getting so angry watch him run around the park that it's doing my head in!

Memo to Wooshdog.:thumbsu:

I think its time to throw Shannon Hurn into the middle.

He is looking super fit and has had a pretty good start to the season. With his pace and hurt factor, he should benefit from Kerr getting the no.1 tag.

Memo to Wooshdawg.:thumbsu:

I think its time to throw Shannon Hurn into the middle innit?.

He is looking wicked fit and has had a well good start to the season. With his 'leg-it' skillz and his blimey factor, he should be well good wif Kerr nickin the no.1 tagz.
Edited for awesomeness :p
In all seriousness, we should. He very rarely makes mistakes with the ball in his hands. Doesn't sell teammates in to trouble and isn't too focused on kicking the ball. Rich showed last night what a quick, long, low trajectory pass from the pack (as opposed to the high and slow priddis clearance) can do to the opposition. If our forwards can anticipate such a move and stay in front, it might just work.
Get him in the middle, getting quick kicks out and importantly receiving the ball whilst kerr gets swamped by opponents.

There is no quick fix.

Face facts.

We're in for a long year with some big losses and surprising wins.

Man up.

Pffft. Is that what you said in 96 when were 1-4 after 5 games. Everyone said they were finished but Malthouse made a few moves like to Matera to HB and we won the next 12 or so games... and were a GF chance.

Once you start conceding you're crap, you become it. See vs St Kilda.

There's enough talent in that team to make the finals... simple as that. There's enough money spent on coaches to find new solutions... simple as that.

All i see is the same **** different day with the line-up and players who are gifted selection spots which is why they drop off so badly.

It seems Hansen, Fletcher, Hunter, Nicoski, Ebert, Embley, Mckinley, Seaby, Stenglien, Jones, Rosa, Masten etc think they only need to play one quarter a match to keep their spot... and they're right!

Put it this way, there's no Judds waiting to come back... either this group improves or we won't go nowhere for 5 years.

Rosa and Masten will form part of the nucleus of our midfield for many years to come. There is absolutely no benefit in having them playing at WAFL level while they could be playing and learning alongside Kerr.

Only if Masten starts and plays in the centre square for most of the game while staying on the ground for 70% of the game. Otherwise we are doing him more harm than good.

i totally agree with u macdog7

every game i cringe at the amount of hospital passes from fletcher, he jus has ineffective disposal after ineffective diposal, youth should play ahead of him imo

in regards to hansen i really do think he should be dropped and kennedy be given an extended run in the team, i really am sick 2 death of seeing hansens opponent getting over 20 touches a game running off him while hansen does little damage of his own. the sooner them 2 r replaced by youth, the better.

Read and comprehend! I never said one word about dropping Jones or anyone else bar Fletcher. Just trying to understand why he had such a bad game. He was a pretty consistent player over the past few years but he got absolutely pantsed on the weekend. No crime in wondering why is there? Being passed it is a legitimate option.

As to jumping on the bandwagon.....no I'm more realistic than that.
