I am slowly moving into the acceptance stage of grief that football passed me by. I really wanted a spine of Trengove Rough/English and Boyd but I think the reality is we have played better footy as a smaller sized team. It means I go into games wondering how we’ll win when seemingly undersized and yet somehow we do or at least play better.

As much as I bemoan too an unproductive forward line I have to acknowledge how hard coaching a forward line is when only last year I was excited about what a Crameri Cloke Stringer forward line might do.

I think if we look at both ourselves and the Tigers over the last two years the answer lies there.

There is still a place for talls in today's footy but they must be mobile otherwise teams can easily defend against them. If your repertoire consists of taking big marks and that's the limit of you game then it wont cut it anymore.

It was interesting Bevos comments on Toyd on Talking Footy about spending time as a midfielder even though it was a result of Footscray having too many talls. Don't be surprised if we see this sometime when he returns even for small stints.

I too wanted that spine but have also acknowledged we play our best footy small. However I can see English in a few years nearly being considered a 'small' due to his athleticism and ability to apply pressure on the ground level. This could potentially lead us to play an extra tall

I dont think you can bring Boyd back in this week. I live over in WA and we are expecting a months rain this weekend...

Not sure if the CBD will get impacted as bad as down south but be regardless its going to be a smalls game. Be interesting to see how the new stadium turf holds up too as its been reported by both the local teams as being as hard or harder than Etihad

I checked the BOM site today and its now downgrading the Saturday forecast to be not as bad as they were originally saying

Hmm bear in mind we only went in with 3 KPPs on the weekend.
Cordy will come back in for sure. I'd just be surprised if we added another tall without dropping Red or (resting) English. Not long 'til we know for sure. :)

I can’t help but feel that it’s a bad idea to bring Boyd in so soon. So if Boyd and Cordy are in and Hunter is out, who else is out? If it’s any of English, Naughton or Richards I’ll be pissed.

Have to play 2 rucks against Sandilands in what could be predicted to be a high stoppage game, with the weather. Doubt Naughton and English will be dropped when they have family in Perth so 99.9% they will be on the plane. Both of them played well last weekend too.

Not the end of the world if one of our first year players gets dropped. Hunch Gowers might miss out. Just a hunch though!

I’d consider not playing Redpath at all due to the surface and the weather not really suiting his style. If it’s wet presume it will be high stoppage and territory battle which isn’t reds forte, with little clean ball and constantly sitting under high balls.

Richards is promising, but he wasn't that good last week with 4 clangers and 4 frees against from only 13 disposals.

Naughton coughs up 2-3 goals per week with dodgy kicking. Would otherwise have been a top 3 pick in the draft.

Sucks Williams is out been so good. Anyone have any idea whats wrong? Hopefully just a not worth taking him to perth type thing. Overall happy enough with that. Hunter and Williams are huge losses considering our iffy disposal and ball movement at times but considering its not going to be a game for slick movement by the looks of things it shouldnt be a huge deal, bring them back for Honey, Webb/Jong and the side will really start to take shape.

Boyd>Red is huge in terms of the conditions. Want them both back in the side together but Red needs a rest and Boyd suits this game much much more.

Biggs needs to get his shit together or he's going to find it hard to get a spot in the side altogether.

Please show something Webby, I know hes good enough but **** he needs to show some intensity or you can just about put a line through him. Would like him to play a role similar to Dunks.
