I wouldn’t play Boyd if it’s a typical torrential wet weather night game in Perth. Hunter hasn’t been playing as much in the midfield this year or last, so Lipinski would be more of a like for like replacement.

I think you bring a second ruck in though. Wet conditions probably produces a high stoppage game.

English needs a mature body help. I can see the reason for not selecting Boyd but I think it’s essential that English gets another ruck in the team.

Outs

Hunter, Honey, Gowers(rest)/Redpath(rest)

Ins
Lipinski, Boyd, Cordy

I’m also open to Redpath having a complete rest from all levels this week. His knee looks sore and if it does rain heavily I think structurally and impact wise his role diminishes.

I think he’s best 22 and I’m as big a fan of him as any, but I think with a flight to Perth as well as a sorish knee he could have a week off. Also apparently their is some concern about the Optus surface being too hard. So I’m open to him resting and being an automatic inclusion for the blues.

So Gowers to retain his place if Red is rested. Think it’s important we manage our first year players. Jong keeps his spot due to a need for strong bodies in wet conditions

A wet weather game may be a good opportunity to bring Webb in. I would expect it is out of him and Lipinski for Hunter's spot. Another option the MC might take is to bring in Cordy for Hunter and free Suckling from Defence. I wouldn't really like that but it could happen. The chance of rain and a high stoppage game could also, as alluded to above, make Boyd an attractive option given his recent performance in the wet.

The interesting side plot is the fact of a chance of decent rain at Optus Stadium. I'm pretty sure it is a first for the ground. Will be interesting to see how drainage is, I expect pretty top notch, but who knows. Perth has also been pretty dry lately so I can't imagine that will be an issue in any event.

Trengove needs to come in if the shoulder is ok, but it’s likely to be very tested so he’ll have to be 100%

Why does Trengove need to come in? His first few games were dreadful. He needs to earn his spot back via Footscray, far from an automatically selection.

I agree, add to that the fact we have been playing a far better style of football with a smaller side. I'd be wary of bringing in talls at all if it can be helped.

So what you'r saying is Trengove playing determines whether we play well or poorly.

The wetter the game is the more time the ball spends on the ground, I want Boyd in but if it’s wet it’s the smaller team that’s been played that will probably be more effective unless Redpath doesn’t play. Sandilands is rubbish ruckman he’s tall but he’s the anti Naitanui, he has concrete hands.

We only played 3 talks in total last week. So we can afford to still bring in one more even with wet conditions.

And I think this is as good a week as any to rest Red.

Could someone please explain to me why a player, who has proven nothing at his new club yet.Who has neen injuired. Then is first in line above two premiership ruckmen. Not to mention Campbell. That would be incompetence that no buisness or sporting club needs.Should not pick players to justify recruiting him.Let him earn it.Roughead first.

Ol mate West Coast CEO confirmed that the Optus Stadium ground was super hard on the radio today. Even went as far as mentioning the surface perhaps not helping their injury list.

That didnt do a whole bunch for my confidence I must admit.

Red just had a rest from all levels two weeks ago.

What do you do if the 22 plays really well and you have to squeeze red and Hunter back in? We can't really guarantee him selection the week after. If I was red, I'd be saying no to a rest unless I absolutely needed it, because that way he can force the selectors to keep him in the team with good form. The same goes for gowers.

Because English would get killed by someone like Sandilands, whilst I think Trengove is a more physical player than Roughead & shows more mongrel. Ditto Boyd, who at the moment building fitness won’t be as mobile as either Trengove or Roughy. I rate Campbell as a tap ruckman, but all that would do is really negate Sandilands & that style of ruck is quickly disappearing.

You want to drop two smalls and replace with talls when there’s a big chance the game will be a wet one ?

He, as well as everybody, were dreadful in the first two rounds.

He injured his shoulder somewhat early in the West Coast game if memory serves me correctly. If we're throwing players in the VFL on one and a half games of football then there are a few that shouldn't play instead of him.

In Cordy Boyd
Out Hunter Redpath
Boyd to Ruck 20% FF for the rest
Wood back to HBF and Cordy to FB
Maybe Honey or Jong for Lipinski.
Biggs stays only because no Hunter.
