Changes for the Eagles

I doubt Danger or Mackay will play. Better to give them the extra week rest and make sure they are good to go against Carlton.

I can see us playing with no change this week, unless we bring Davis in and give Stevens a week rest.

The next week however, we need everyone available.

With some luck we will have:

Dangerfield, Mackay, Burton and Stevens (if he is out this weekend) all back for the Carlton game. That's some HUGE ins.

With Bock, I'd rest him up until the 2nd week of the finals. Have him in the pool or on the bike until then.

If we win both games, regardless of what the Bullies do, we could be on the good side of the draw, especially if Collingwood beat Geelong in the first week! Then again we've thought that the last two years and it ended badly!!

if both danger and mackay are fit, they should play, need to give them some game time before the finals

in: dangerfield, mackay

out: douglas, sloane

Firstly we do not have the luxury of giving a rest to players. We need all hands on the deck so to speak!

Stevens will not be given a week. He will play unless injured or ill.

Dangerfield and Mackay are in our best 22 and if they are ready to go, they are automatic inclusions. 50% of Mackay is better than 100% of Douglas or Sloane. Same goes for Dangerfield.

You could argue that it would be wise to give our best 22 a solid run before the Carlton game and hence if Burton, Danger and Mackay are fit and would line up against Carlton then there is no reason to not play them against the Eagles. We dont have the luxury Saint Kilda have in resting 8 of their best players leading into the finals and still win :p

EDIT: I should have read the previous post before my post as it looks like I pretty much copied Stify_18

I just want to see davis get a gig. That's all.

C'mon NC, make it happen. Is this a development year, or are we thinking premiership again? ;)
If Davis is going to get a gig this year, you'd think it would be now - and at the expense of someone like Andy Otten. If there's one player who could really do with a break, it's Otten. Playing 3rd tall in defence would also be the ideal introduction for Davis.

Stevens is playing well and has a physically mature body which is used to the rigours of playing a full season of AFL footy. There's no reason to rest him in order to give Davis a run.

i think i read that Danger and Mackay should be fit to play...
IN: Danger, Mackay
OUT: Douglas, Sloane

the article about Griffin mentioned that he might even have a chance of being recalled this week...and Moran might be fit for finals...and McKernan may be returning via SANFL this week....which means PRESSURE on Sellar...he has to step up and show he adds something else to the side other than a filler, otherwise, one of the other guys could easily fill his spot.
...i think it's a bit late in the season to give games to Davis; i think he'll just have to wait till next year (after a full pre-season under his belt).

Last week John Reid was on 5AA shows (can't remember which one) and he mentioned that Davis has been training as a forward for the past few weeks and is unlikely to be selected as a defender.

He also mentioned that last week Craig had a strong idea to play Hentschel against the Hawks but Davis trained so well that he was bee's proverbial from changing Craig's mind.

He is close but maybe as a forward!

In which case we play Hentschel in defence, Davis in the forward line & still give Otten the rest. Same end result, just need to shuffle the deckchairs a little. Definitely something to be said for having flexible players like Hentschel, Stevens & Davis, who can all play at either end of the ground.

He's run out of time ........he's not good enough to come back into the side without having played 1-2 afl games.

Under finals pressure - unacceptable risk

Absolute minimum would be 1 SANFL match and some excellent competitive work at training. Even that may not be enough given his experience level.

I just want to see Rodney pwn Ebert in some fashion. I don't care how, hip and shoulder, burning him off, catch him HTB (doubly exciting if we somehow managed to score a free for it).
I doubt Ebert playes with a bruised lung. Wasn't he coughing up blood on the weekend after getting a knock?!

Think it might have been a cut mouth or tongue. He recovered, and isn't listed as an injury like Masten or Brown.

The WCE Moderator didn't include him when he posted that Natanui may not and Masten and Brown wouldn't play.

To the poster that suggested the eagles will get rolled by 45 is a bit misguided. I believe the crows will win this week but the times of the eagles getting pumped by 8 and 10 goals appear to have passed. We have only been thrashed once this year that i can recall, all the rest of our losses haven't been that significant.

I'll be at the game on Saturday anyways, hoping for a close contest, we'll see what happens.

Looks pretty self explanitory now I would've thought after seeing the article on the AFL site. Mackay and Danger in, Sloane and Douglas would be the unlucky ones to miss.

I've watched quite a few of your games this year, and your point is valid. However if the Eagles do lose Nicknat on top of Masten and Brown, I think the margin will still be around that 45 point region.

I must say that the respect that West Coast have got has been appreciated, we have been playing pretty good footy over the last month, however so have your blokes, and I can't see us winning this week, especially since we've lost both our rising stars for the season (in Masten & Brown) they've been pretty consistent performers for us this year.
You've shown us much more respect than some other boards in the last couple of weeks..
However I wouldn't change your side unless you absolutely had to, watching as a neutral supporter I thought that you recovered well from a slow start, and got a consistent performance out of practically everyone, even Douglas, although he didn't have the greatest of nights, 8 tackles out of the forward pocket can't be underestimated..
However if you're going to win this week, you will probably want to negate the influence of Andrew Embley. Hes been the barometer of the side, and is starting to get back into his 06 form, which is a welcome return. He doesn't mind playing at AAMI either from memory..

They won't play any of the recently injured blokes unless they're 100% this week. Not saying we should take the Eagles lightly, but this is how they would be thinking.

If Mackay is fit, he comes in for Douglas. If Dangerfield is fit, he comes in for Sloane.

I agree, I just think your outs this week gives us that extra edge. Your boys have been playing some good footy of late, and the Bulldogs game was really exciting to watch. Nice seeing the Bullies getting knocked off.:thumbsu: But without Cox and Kerr to handle like previous meetings, I think Adelaide can shut Embley out, which will provide a major boost, he's killed us in the past!

Seeing as Birdman may as well miss, I'm leaning to an inclusion of Walker and Mackay for Dougie and Sloane, as I mentioned earlier in the thread if Danger returns then Symes would be unlucky to go. I simply believe that Tex cannot be left in the SANFL.

I'm quite positive of a victory, and despite the fact that WCE have beaten the Bulldogs their recent away record statistically isn't too good. But this must be treated as a danger game, got to be focused.

My tip at this stage, Crows by 30-40 points.

.

There is no -way known Walker will be recalled anytime soon .........he had his re-call opportunity and failed

He'll now do penance ........IMO he won't play AFL again this year and will have the PS to really bust a gut to go to that next level he is capable of

In: Mackay and Dangerfield

Out: Symes and Douglas

Really expect Sloane to get another game and Symes was poor and Douglas MEH!

Im not convinced Priddis needs a tag, Embly is the one back to his Premiership form

Not that fv@&!^G embly again, I couldn't bear it!

How many times has he stitched us up? Someone needs to knock him soxless before he does any more damage to my psyche!

You're probably right re Walker, though I'd love him to get one last chance now Burton is still out.

Notwithstanding that, i feel we need an extra tall to ensure an injury during the game doesn't rob us of tall forwards (ie Hentschel needed back, Tippett held...we could be rendered impotent in a hurry now that Stevens already in Bock's spot).

If Walker blacklisted then bring Davis in for one prior to Burton's return (for Sloane). Like your other changes.
