Preview.

Win and lock in top 4, kill the croes season off.

Lose and still probable that top 4 and croes miss finals occurs.

Test the players out against a team playing for their season. Good finals prep this 3 week block.

Lycett, Rioli, mcentee, Evans out
Hayes, Dbj, Williams, Bonner in
Narkle sub.
ROB bog if Lycett limps out again.
Lord for Dixon possible
Seems like we are playing too many old injured guys who I doubt could pass a fair dinkum fitness test and are offering next to nothing (Dixon excluded)
Times almost up for Wines/ Boak.
Happy to play Jackson or even mead but in the guts.

Dixon is like the old wounded alpha lion being challenged and just holding out.
Lycett is being taken down by the young challengers & it’s not pretty for anyone.
Both need rest before the finals

I'm not sold on Evans at all but McEntee has done bugger all for weeks... so if selection comes down to one of them it's an easy decision IMO. Despite the lack of composure, which you could put down to nerves and desperation to make the most of a limited chance, at least Evans was in the contest.

Which brings to the next KPI.

Can he keep obrien to below his average hit out to advantage. If he can then we have our Ruck.

If he can win 30% of the contests to advantage then he's a clear winner.

As far as I'm concerned Rucks the most important position on the ground and at present we are only looking at the best options currently on our list. Not the perfect Ruck.

Lycett. Out of sorts and probably injury playing a part.

Teakle ( obviously needs a run on todays effort)

Dante. don't want to play him without another pre-season he's still 5-10 kilos off being competitive at afl level.

Finlayson. we need forward and we risk injury.

Dixon. just too banged up its cruel making him ruck.

All of them are better options than Hayes.

The idea of Hayes sucks people in. The reality is he’s had long enough.
Teakle, needs a run? I watched him today at Alberton let me assure you he can’t play football.

Out: Marshall
In: Lord
Were you watching Marshall on the weekend as chipper as one of those second string gridiron high school footballers in a shitty teen movie saying "put me in, coach", thinking of all the anti-Marshall propaganda you would force on us this week?

We would be totally negligent if we didn't appear Rioli's suspension.
Absolute crap decision IMHO.
But we are talking about Port - who have gone weak at the knees lately on this sort of thing 😠

Can we actually win a high stakes, important game for once?
Can the pressure of expectations overwhelm us, as usual?
Croms playing for their season.
We'll go in as favourites.
Camry's can throw caution to the wind, whereas we may be nervous.

We SHOULD win - comfortably.
But WILL we win?
Is our traditional back end of the season slump upon us?

Not confident.

Ruck is the most important position on the ground but you'd like to keep selecting players who are coming off consecutive worst on ground performances wherever possible.

Sounds good.

Duursma would want to lift, at the moment he's getting picked on reputation. That miss of his after the turn over when Collingwood kicked in was particularly poor.
thought he was better this week than last week and hopefully even better next week. He's still a better optiont than anyone in the Maggies.

I think Rioli has upped his defensive game this year to the extent that McEntee is no longer required. Rather have Fantasia for the rest of the year.

Bitch slapping opposition players is Rioli taking his defensive game a little too far.

Fantasia was out of the Magpies game this week because of muscle tightness. He's still 2-3 weeks of sanfl before we take a punt.

The only way Lycett doesn't go around is fitness. We simply have no other option.

Gets another couple of weeks then Teakle can fill in for a couple of weeks.

That would leave Lycett 2 games then a break before finals.

Ignoring a perfectly reasonable option out of sheer vindictiveness and bloody mindedness isn't the same as having no option.

You have no idea. I can't be any clearer than that. No point conversing with you about this. You've fully absorbed the anti-Hayes propaganda and you're so blinded by that ideology that you can't look at what's actually happening on the football field and see that it bears no relation to what you've been convinced is happening.

Incidentally, Sam 'cAnT rUn oUt a gAmE' Hayes has never been subbed out of an AFL game. Scott 'bUt hE gEtS tO sO mAnY cOnTeStS' Lycett has been subbed out three times this year.

To be fair, lycett usually gets subbed for blasting the field with piss while his opponent gathers world record supercoach points, not because he can't run the game out. He's perfectly capable of stinking up all four quarters
