Hmmmm that wouldn't be a bad start but that midfield somehow remains unscathed. Although they've obviously done away with Seedsman at the clearances, which was a fail.

Who could have predicted that Seed wasn't an AFL quality stoppage mid. Kids that were recruited as mids can't get a crack, but a lifetime running winger is worth a squirt because he's old enough, no other reason required. If we go back to Gibbs ahead of Poholke, then that'll be the line ruled through Nicks.

Agreed, he also needs some more support in the coaches box. We heard how good he is with building relationships with players which is great, but we need to get a good tactical assistant in who can help with our game plan. At the moment he has a bunch of ex crows players in there and an ex SANFL coach.
I can only hope Nicks and Kelly are forceful on who and what they want. I can understand the difficulties last year because Nicks and then Kelly came in so late everyone else was locked in elsewhere, but under the current circumstances there's no reason why they can't find some new blood.

I don't think they will, we've got the best coaches around, but like most issues at the club they are blind to them and prioritising loyalty over performance.

The caveat being we do need to keep some level of experience, but I'm just not sure selecting a guy they've openly said is playing for a spot in defence is the answer.

I think they'll both play though.

We must get 2 or 3 quality assistants.

If Hey Shorty is correct, then both Hart and Mattner were told they weren't going to get renewed. That's either because we want to go cheaper or we had the replacements lined up already.

I just wonder if nicks is not just using this time to gage his squad to really see who is up to it and who isn't. He might have a plan to test a number of senior guys out over a block period and could be prepared to rule a line through a few for good after that..we can only hope

Few players will play well when we're getting belted. I understand that. But the one reason that you suffer out of form senior players is that they bring intensity and lead the way for the younger players even if they're losing the battle. Gibbs doesn't do that. And even if he has a decent game, what's the value? He's proven he's up, down and down and over it, his next shit game is just around the corner. Poholke playing full minutes in the middle will give us early 20's possession numbers with a bit of energy about it. What's Gibbs going to give us at his current best, dawdle around for 26. What's the point? If these 'coaches' can't see that, then they shouldn't be at this level.

And where the hell is Sholl, talked up by Smith in the preseason and we've got no drive from half back except for the attempt of a debutant last week. They've got to stop looking at reasons to keep senior players in. Kelly gives us nothing, or Brown, but one of them needs to go for someone that's prepared to run at our goals when they get the football into their hands.

Or 3 we said **** it and are just praying we aren't alone come the end of the season.

I don't think Hart is the kind of assistant you replace with a replacement in mind. Though I suspect this is his last year as he's been riding on luck for a while.

Not sure about Godden's coaching, but I definitely appreciate his honesty when interviewed. He doesn't hold back, or sugar coat the truth. None of Fagan's patented "don't say anything to anyone" bullshit.

1st Q last week did we go I50? At one point clearances were 12-0. I mean come on....

The Crouch’s were slaughtered by a 3 game 18yo and a guy we sent there.

They were disgraced and should be embarrassed to put their hands out for a match fee.

We've gone all in on those two, hoping they'd become the next Dangerfield and Thompson, but it's blown up in our face. How many other mids have we refused to even give an opportunity because of these two? Right now I'd take Jarryd Lyons ahead of either.

Kelly's probably worth his spot at the moment because he's one of few "senior" guys willing to put his body on the line, but surely with McPherson fit it can't be long.

Sholl is a must soon.

Seriously? You'd drop Talia and Sloane?

Talia no.

Sloane, why not. He is our captain that plays in the midfield - which is where we are losing the game.

Sloane is a major part of why we are getting thumped, he is our number one midfield guy that goes missing for large chunks of the game.

There would be others I would drop before Sloane but if we are honest he is a big part of the problem (which also comes back to our poor coaching).

ROB is only in need of some help because our midfield is so crap.

He could handle the shorter quarters no worries, getting his chop out when the ball is in our forward line (Walkers fine for boundary throw ins in out F50) unfortunately the ball rarely goes in there and when it does it comes straight back out due to our 1v3 brilliant setups we employ.

So it means ROB is always "busy" in the middle and our D50.

Pretty much. We gambled they were it and at the time, it seemed sound. After all, peak Matt & Brad Crouch were better than Lyons and co.

Now is not then, though I doubt this is a case of hindsight. More symptomatic of other issues.

ROB is probably having to do more because of Tex and Fog though. Those 2 shouldn't be in the centre circle at all.

Not if history is any guide. "Trained well" is all it takes. We don't take any notice of SANFL or AFL performances, we select based upon training form. Always have.
Our 2s side got beaten by 90 points too, tough ask to bring anyone in on that.

But I think he's gone.

Sloane has been impersonating a midfielder since quarter time of the 2017 GF

Sounds crazy but why not bring Berg and Frampton up forward, Lynch keeps his spot rotating across wind and HF off the bench, Tex is dropped a FOG is shifted to HF and midfield. Crocker and McAdam are the other 2 forwards.

Out: Atkins, Seeds, M Crouch and Tex

In: Berg, Frampton, McAdam and Poholke/Gibbs

You are right, sounds crazy.

I mean... I don't hate it as a temporary measure. Gives a chance for Himmelberg/Frampton to salvage their career.
