Which part of it?

You cannot possibly look at the consistent selection methods over the last 24 months and state that we have a clear plan and player development strategy.
The development attitude mostly looks to be once we bring a guy into the 22 we look to keep them there and won't select them until we're sure they will be.

Probs the same was said about Koschitzke before the hawks game and of Lobb and Goldstein having an influence up forward before those games
I mean that in a sense that Marshall doesn't play like your traditional KPF. He's more of a JJ type who doesn't particularly like body contact and is better on the deck and on the lead up.

So Jones as sub? Just as he was starting to string a bit of decent footy together

And guess what peeps... our SANFL team has a bye the following week.

So we'll be able to keep Jones off the park for a fortnight so that he runs cold. D Mac has got that spot wrapped up.

Exactly what happened to Wigg when he travelled to Gold Coast to watch VB's worthless return.

I reckon Fog will play a lot in the middle.

We are committed to this and he spent most of last weeks SANFL game there.

Also don't mind him chasing Ollie around for the game.

His fitness is not there, but he can learn his craft still.

Trying to turn Fog into a midfielder is sheer stupidity.

Play him as a forward - if we want to improve his workrate and effort (I don't buy this), then play him at CHF and play through him.

We have no plan for Fog, and we haven't had one since we drafted him, we refuse to commit to a clear plan and give it time to develop, so we just keep shuffling things around to try and come up with an idea.

We recruited a forward.

We spent last year trying to turn him into a defender.

This year apparently he's a midfielder.

It's stupidity.

Except for those times we didn't do that

Yes he has underperformed. That alone doesn't explain why he specifically got the chop while Rowe survives.

And that's my problem with these selections. There is no clear strategy at all. Some players are in the "favorites" group, and take a lot to remove them. Others get dropped on a hair trigger. Some players get a huge block of games. Others get one game then dropped. One week we're going tall in defense. Another week it's small. Some weeks we make like-for-like changes, other weeks it's random.

The lack of a clear strategy for developing players is a concern in a supposed "development" year

Absolutely right.

I was pleased when we gave Frampton a run of games, even if he sucked for most of them - at least now we know. Unfortunately, this seems like it was an accident, and we're back to just randomly changing things without any rhyme or reason.

This will be the loudest and probably the most hostile crowd nearly half the team would have heard , will be great game for getting a feel of who's able to absorb it, not to upset with the selection.

Rowe's (and other forwards) down form can be tied to the midfield failing to do their job to an acceptable level, a midfield Hately has been a part of.
Rahilly mentioned this today. Said hes watched Rowes tapes and hes getting into "smart" areas and not getting used.

Midfield -> Fwd structure has been out for weeks. Look at Texs games.

Hopefully Sloaney straightens us up.

I'm not convinced Fogarty is a midfielder yet but I know who I want eyeballing Ollie Wines in the midfield and at this point Hatelysince joining us has given no indication he's that player

Actually agree with you here.

I think Fogarty as a midfielder is just pure stupidity.

But it does highlight that as well as lacking any elite/polished midfielders, we also have a severe lack of grunt in there.

We are giving a stack of players blocks of games.

And that's why they're trying it IMO. Personally I'd have dropped Himmelberg and played him forward, but we probably should persist with the midfield experiment for the year.

If nothing else it could be that he adds that string to his bow in short bursts

Can’t wait for Doedee on 195+cm forwards again, it’s worked so well this season.

Look at all the youngsters Mackay’s now playing in front of 😂

Remember when he re-signed and people were genuinely saying it's a good thing because he'll only be a break glass emergency player?

So we saw what the result was of an undersized defence, but chose to go back to it??
Murray plays well in defence, goes forward and looks like the only bloke any chance of taking a mark and we...drop him??
Himmelberg couldn't catch Covid in India, but he stays in?
We overload our forward line with tall and not very mobile guys, in a game we know will be wet and slippery?

Are our coaches ok??!

Defender Fog was 2019 and that was just a Pyke desperation move due to injuries leaving us completely bare for defenders. There was never any intention of trying to "turn" him into a defender, he was just put there cause he was the last tall bloke we had healthy.

I actually think this is the first time we have given Fog a plan to try and develop him into a more well rounded player, rather than just plonking him forward cause he played there as a junior. He went back to the SANFL last week to work on some things and get more reps into his midfield training, which at least at SANFL level showed some improvement.

If we had of done this 2 years ago with him he'd be well advanced and we'd know for sure what he's capable of, but it's too late to change that now.

I don't get the selection of Himmelburg but dropping of Murray.
Leaves us short down back and too tall for when Fogarty isn't in the midfield.
I don't mind seeing if Himmelburg can make it but not sure on the actual playing a game of AFL side of things.

All on here are just as puzzled.
