It looks likely McGovern will miss judging by the footage here. No McGovern, Shuey, Yeo and Ryan seems likely. Kennedy seems 50/50 by reports.
Big opportunity here...
Back Darcy to take his biggest scalp,
Coxless defence to close out shaky Kennedy,
Fyfe Lobb and Treacy to convert true chances.
They CAN all do these things.

Stand by next week as over at Lathlain Park...

WC constantly have owned us around the stoppages after the first qtr in all of our most recent games. They’ve won it on the inside & the spread has been far too easy due to our young kids being sucked into the contest.

Their most damaging player atm around the stoppage is Kelly, he has just got to be tagged as we can’t allow quick ball movement into their forward 50, especially if Cox is out. Conca is the obvious choice with WC not really having dominant small forward to consider close checking.

We need to win the midfield battle convincingly as I still think WC’s forward line is dangerous, with ours having a huge boost if McGovern is out. If McGovern is out I think Treacy needs to play as it might force WC to play Allen back for large chunks of the game & they’ll probably bring in Vardy, which would be a great result for us.

I’d play Serong head to head with Kelly.

Out Treacy, Crowden
In Sturt, Tucker

Just think Sturt has more natural forward instincts than Treacy - needs to apply more pressure than his previous games though, Treacy isn't really cutting it at the moment - as mentioned needs to get some confidence hopefully in the WAFL (assuming it can be played next weekend).

If Cox misses then Tobe Watson comes in - Logue to Kennedy, Ryan to Darling, Watson on Allen - could stretch the defence, so we will need to stop the ball from going in, and then provide cover if it does.

Allen would slaughter Watson. I think Hughes has been ok on Darling in the past and Ryan would be a better option for Allen imo.
Hopefully either Cox is ok (which I think he will be) or Kennedy doesn’t get up.

If Cox doesn't get up would there be any chance they roll the dice on Hamlng early? Listed as two weeks off last week, I know they said that he'll be back through the WAFL but will they gamble if they're feeling desperate?

And I read above Lobb is far better than Meek?? Not on current output he isn't. Very underwhelming couple of weeks from him.
18 disposals is fine and far from underwhelming. Similar number of marks to Taberner, who Lobb is delivering the ball to. Meek as a forward look ordinary and his teaming with Darcy really only worked if it allowed Darcy to play the forward role. But overall that was a net negative. There would be zero consideration to bringing in Meek to replace Lobb.

This board has a ruthless ability to target and scapegoat players. The list of those who should have been delisted but are actually doing more than enough to justify their selection in the current best 22 is growing. Hughes, Conca, Wilson, Acres, Lobb, Schultz, Colyer. All list clogging also-rans apparently.

You just know Weagles injury crisis will be over cooked in the media and ours will be (and always has) been under-represented.

What I wouldn't give for a tall backline for a change in a derby - still the game is winnable even with Cox and possibly Conca out. I'd back Watson or Duman to be at least serviceable (2-3 goals kicked on them as opposed to 5-6).

We need something much better from Logue than what he's provided - it's not entirely his fault he's always been a great athlete first and a footballer second, to become a great footballer he's actually going to have to pull a string of games together and understand the game at a deeper level.

Crowden was quite off the pace and played full minutes, I know he's a 'tackling machine' but to be honest Blakely lands nearly as many tackles and does a bit more with the ball. I'd be tempted to retain Blakely in the 22. It's a shame there's no WAFL though as I have a feeling Tucker would've been stamping his authority on the game today.

I get what people are saying about Treacy and I can't figure this one out. He's so far off it at present and needs a month in the WAFL (who even knows where that'll be over the next month) - if he's not clunking marks and kicking goals he needs to be bringing a great deal of aggression or providing relief in the ruck which he isn't doing. It might actually be better for Meek to come in and ruck 50/50 with Lobb and send Darcy to full forward. Darcy is on absolute fire and I'd trust him in front of the bug sticks from any distance over anyone else in the squad. That way we keep the tall structure and I think become more damaging.

Sturt needs a go but I see his slight frame being thrown around in a derby, unless the lad can find a great deal of space and also work himself up the ground.

Out: Treacy, Crowden
In: Meek, Blakely

I haven't called for a single one of the players on your list to be delisted, though I did say I'd trade Schultz if the price is right.
Lobb is ahead of Meek in forward 50 work. He's behind him as a ruck and more noticeably behind him for grunt and second effort. The Lobb Darcy combination is still preferred but the gap is closing every week Lobb underwhelms.

Treacy > Sturt
If Cox is out injured > Watson

Blakely or Crowden in and the other as the sub.

I want Tucker in but he really needs a full WAFL game. If there is no WAFL this coming weekend then he could be the sub.

Lobb’s ruck work was underwhelming but his work around the ground was good. Watched him closely and the replay and he was involved in setting up some chains of forward movement. Clunked a couple of good marks.

Meek offers none of this. Meek was good in the ruck esp that last quarter against the Hawks but in AFL generally non-existent around the ground.

Treacy should have been replaced last week. Looks lost at AFL and not understandably given the lack of footy he played last year. He turned his back on moving the ball forward when there were some good one on ones in the last quarter and made a few skill errors when trying too hard. Needs to learn leading patterns and a bit of composure in the WAFL.

I get your point but Kennedy is one of the best forwards in the modern game vs a rookie forward playing as a defender.... not pretty. Would be a good learning for Treacy as a forward though.
Never mentioned him playing on Kennedy!...That would be just plain silly...
Option for Allen or the mullet'ed one though....
We dont have a lot of options...

No changes.
It’s ridiculous how many people want Treacy dropped.
I’m yet to see someone actually try to kick it to him with a proper out-in-front-to-the-advantage-of-your-leading-forward pass.

Disagree, I've seen it kicked to him a few times on the lead and he's dropped it.

People want him given a run in the 2's because we have competition for spots whereby Sturt can play his role. Really, Treacy's output isnt sufficient at the moment to warrant keeping other talent out of the team, that's all. He'll be a player, but like all talls, it will be a long burn

I'm rewatching the game and with 9 minutes left in the 1st quarter, Treacy has already had 4 almost marks. In all cases the delivery has been a bit off - a bit high or a bit low, if the delivery was a better he'd have 3 or 4 marks inside 50 already. He also handballed to Schultz who goalled, and Frederick almost kicked one after crumbing off his marking contest. He's playing his role as a tall forward and a foil for Tabs, keep him in so he can keep learning and improving, and I reckon the goals will come soon. With McGovern likely to miss, it will really stretch their defence and Rotham will have to play on him, with Barrass taking Tabs.

18 possessions and 8 score involvements is miles away from an underwhelming performance.

Lobb is playing forward/ruck. We don’t really need a ruck unless Darcy is injured.

I’m 50/50 on Treacy & obviously the coaches will know far more than us as to whether he is playing his role.

But one thing is for sure, Tabs is having more 1v1 contests than he ever has before & a part of that is Treacy leading at the ball & leaving space behind. Previously Lobb & Tabs have been very similar in wanting the long kick in & bringing both defenders to the contest.

The separation between our forwards is the best it’s been in years.
You could see Treacy steaming out at times on a lead and creating space. He had acres of separation on his defender. He's quite quick

Just never honoured

Edit: one of his leads was well off for timing to be a genuine lead, he was purely on the move and shifted the defense
