Strategy Changes: Round 9 Fremantle vs. Collingwood

Anyone care to speculate on crowd for Thursday?
Over 50k you reckon?
I reckon coz of the Pies Army, and our blokes looking for redemption.
15k would probably fast track some changes.
The club doesn't give a shit about our happiness but they'd die for our money.

We will bring the effort this week but get out-classed by a better team.

I can see how its going to play out already.
We'll win. They're on a 5 day break with travel after a finals-like game on Saturday night.
We'll get a sugar hit until the next inexplicable non-effort game. Then we'll start the dance again.

There was talk earlier they will rest players.

I would not be suprised if Pendles, Sidebottom and maybe 1 or 2 others miss this week.

If they beat Geelong i can see how that may have happened, not now after losing and falling back into the chasing pack.

I can see something similar to the Adelaide game, except collingwood will be ready for us.

We will probably come out hunting, but Collingwood are more experienced and better than Adelaide, and we will probably be even at the end of the first, maybe a little ahead.
Then maybe we persist for a while then at some point in the third or 4th their experience and refusal to bend will mean we give in first. They will get a run on, take their chances (adelaide didn’t) and they will win by 30 odd.

Or they absorb our intensity for the first 5 to 10 min, then we lose confidence in the plan and they smash us.

I want effort. I want toughness. Show us the fans and members that it’s worth going in hard and if you lose, you were outclassed. Can take that. Not being cute and trying to be skilful.
Not the BS v Melbourne and St Kilda.

Mentally showing up knowing that Serong will get tagged, Brayshaw will get scragged. There has to be an enforcer in this squad. For every Daicos, there’s a Crisp, a Maynard who will do anything to back up their teammates. Don’t see that with this group.

Can someone tell me why Will Brodie keeps getting overlooked.

To me he seems to be the obvious player to come into the side as he is that big body mid that can do the grunt work and get the ball on to the outside.

Apparently he is not good defensively, just like our current mids are all no good at winning a clearance….

They do this every year if they have to play in Perth. Having to travel more than 20 minutes really knocks them about, they aren't used to it.
Actually shows how taxing their once a year trip out west is. I remember one of the players last year saying that Schultz had mentioned to them that Collingwood literally prep their players for weeks in the lead up to a WA trip.

I believe that, as ridiculous as it is, but if they at all thought we were a threat they wouldn’t be resting 4 of their leaders. We are a week off to them.

Even if they thought we were a threat then they would still be resting their leaders. If we were really a threat then they would be a good chance to lose to us at home regardless of who plays so may as well cop the L and let your geriatrics rest.

No reason of them to think we're a threat though considering JL has never come close to beating McCrae

Give Reid a rest if he's sore.

We need more options in the midfield. And not half-backs or half-forwards rotating - actual midfielders. What I would love to see:

In: Erasmus, Brodie, Banfield (sub) Out: Young, Reid (rest), Switta

I don't care if Switta is a leader. He needs to get form in the WAFL and build up his fitness. He's currently a liability.
