Spot on. We just played our best footy for the year and are kicking into gear. You don't screw with that.
Barring injury, no changes.
Guys like Murphy who've missed footy just need to play now.
All due respect to Brisbane but we should be looking to crush them by 100 points. Percentage is critical this year. Failure to crush Brisbane is nearly as bad as a loss.

Either way I'm still not convinced Redpath and Cloke can play in the same side effectively.
Cloke is a little better up the ground but Redpath the better classic mark and goal type forward. Neither have much agility to speak of, Cloke a fraction better.

i think neither offer much tbh, but red stands out in leading out and marking, whereas cloke doesnt offer in any key areas

I think Red has a better record with us than Cloke - Trav's first game was good but don't recall any others. [I only saw the last quarter yesterday though.]
Not sure about Suckers but Bev obviously rates him highly

The conundrum that is Cloke Vs Redpath. Until Toyd is ready to play, it is going to linger. I'd prefer Cloke for his work ethic, flexibilty and ruck chop outs over Reds better kicking. Neither feature in my best 22
Ironic that 2 forced deletions may not get back in. Webb showed enough, Cloke did ok. Hard to drop players who did what was asked of them for players who were probs just hanging onto spots in the 22.

I prefer Redpath to Cloke. Better player and he's best mates with Shiggsy.
To be honest I think Dickson is taking Redpath's spot. They're very similar players despite their dimensions. With Dickson having far more strings to his bow.
Not getting the constant Suckling haters. I'd go so far as to say that he's one of our most important players. Offers a point of difference over every player in the league with his accuracy and range. His distribution off half back is awesome and no one else can do it.

Suckling was ok, makes you nervous a bit coming out from defence when he tries the miracle kick. But most will agree that it's more comfortable when he has the ball 60m from goal and can spot a target or have a ping. Suckling offers us the flexibility (with Williams in the team) of playing Murph and JJ forward so I don't see him going out of the side.

Suckling cost us two goals early with poor defending.
Luckily he worked himself into the game later on, got one for himself and was generally useful to redeem himself somewhat.

Agree. When he joined us we were warned by Hawk fans that he was sublime at his best but can also be hair-tearingly frustrating at times.
So it has turned out.
He did quite a few good things on the weekend (as well as some bad ones) and we just knew he was going to nail that set shot from outside 50. Bev obviously sees enough net value in him.
As you say it's also his ability to do one or two things well that hardly anybody else can do that makes him so valuable. I'm over calling for him to be dropped. It's not going to happen any time soon so we'd better get used to the turnover goal or two and start appreciating the good things he does.
I would place him in our top 10 this year easily. He is one of the few who can really open up the play with his kicking, and it's only got to work a few times for a few goals. He doesn't make as many errors as some people would believe either. Only thing I'd say is he shouldn't be taking kickouts though. His kicking style throws off players

I quite enjoy Suckling brings some WTF factor (good and bad). More importantly Bev likes him, so as you say, doubt he gets dropped anytime soon. He was actually a lot quicker with his hands last game. Frustrating watching him waddle onto his left foot instead of handballing and getting caught. His long kicking can break games open though.

Dude he can't jump off the ground at all - so just can't spoil.
For every goal he creates - there are two he causes us to concede.
He is as soft as butter.
Williams may not be as good a kick but his decisions are better and so are his defensive efforts and evasion.
I really don't get it - his kicking out as poor too - bombs away it's so obvious - time to move on.

Suckers is always going to be a 6 of one, half dozen the other type player.
+ Has good height to be 2nd & 3rd up spoiler / - Is very poor 1 on 1 defending
+ Has a kicking action combined with very good peripheral vision to catch opposition off guard / - Also catches team mates of guard
+ An asset anywhere around F50 arc / - A liability anywhere around D50 arc with his shanks, which are as impressive as his accuracy
+ Is a smart footballer / - Is slower then trickle
Bevo likes him for the same reasons Clarkson did, they believe with the right game plan they can negate his negatives and utilize his positives, and history probably shows they are right, he does seem to be a barometer as to how the team unit is playing, poor team game, suckers negatives shine, hawks/dogs at their best, suckers is suddenly a very handy "cream" player.
Will always draw opposing opinions. I have Hawkers in the family who were praising suckers as often as they were screaming into their hands, and it generally coincided with how well the team actually played. Seems little has changed.

Good post. I absolutely love having Suckling in the side as he's one of my favourite players to watch. I think his positives outweigh his negatives by a long shot and I think his weaknesses are massively exaggerated on here. He's not "soft as butter", he's just an outside player and contested football isn't his strength. But when it's his time to put his body on the line he doesn't shy away.
Yea, I agree with this somewhat but I think your selling him short. I like the fact that in an era of regimented zones and systems he's an X-factor that throws everyone out of kilter. He kicks it further than anyone in the league and can do it off a step and can do it at right angles to the way he's running.
The Bulldogs play that game where we are happy to concede a few 'over the top' goals because of our defensive forward press - don't blame Suckling because he is playing in that last line that cops the brunt of that forward press game.
