My ideal team would have Cameron in for Pods. Otten and Hendo give us enough tall flexibility.
I would agree in wetter conditions & May depend on opposition defence - whether we can expose either tall or lack of pace.

Who does Lyons replace? I'm going to ask the exact same question to anyone stupid to suggest it.
Say bat time same bat channel. BACCS to the rescue of the selectors. Given up on making calls on changes before the game?

Lyons a bit unlucky but he isn't best 22 nor should anyone think he is. Now we are close to full strength he misses out and rightly so, but what it does say is we are starting to develop reasonable depth in midfield.

LT also a bit unlucky, moreso IMO. Good to see Reilly out, just isnt up to it anymore. Pumped to see Hendo back, adds some more pace and flexibility to the lineup, with DMac and Laird those are 3 good ins.

Why exactly are we pumping games into a player when we haven't decided yet if it's going to be him or someone else replacing Rutten going forward?

Hartigan hasn't made it, and hasn't yet displayed he has the capacity to make it at AFL level.

I believe Hartigan has the necessary tools to make it if he can get his disposal right.

Hendo will be rusty but this is an investment in the Hawks game.

A rusty Hendo is still >>> Reilly

Couldn't agree more. I hope he doesn't get banged up on a six day break but we need him to be up to speed if we are gonna be any chance against the Hawks.

How did the usual dominating Hoff go on Otten?

L Thompson plays 1 handy game & suddenly he is best 22...

Written is still in our best 22 if a suitable match up - you don't pump games into younger players for the sake of it when in finals hunt.
If Westhoff had kicked straight he would have had 3 goals from his 16 possessions

I would suggest sub will be out of Hendo or Mackay, with the Truck being subbed out barring injuries. It will come down to how fit they see Hendo as being.

Harps suggested hendo would start but does he have it in writing ;)

Lyons a bit unlucky but he isn't best 22 nor should anyone think he is.

Why's this? Because he doesn't fit our perceived idea of our current best 22?

Has he had a chance at an AFL level to disprove this? (excluding playing him out of position as a defensive forward)

List turnover is king. I find it remarkable that for a club in our current predicament list/draft sanctions wise so many fans have this perception on a set best 22 and they're adamant that we don't waiver from that.

Last week was a prime opportunity. Heck, this week would be a prime opportunity to give Dangerfield a spell and at least see what he can offer in his natural role through the middle.

Is Reilly signed for 2015 is he? Wow what poor list management that is.
Yes we re-signed him in April 2013, just before he was dropped. At the time there were many posters critical as we saw 2012 the exception, others rejoiced. So I think it's pretty clear Reilly can't handle having an opponent, whether that's on the wing, in the middle or in defence.

Id have been more than happy for Lyons to play in the event of Danger being rested. However we havent done that and seem to be playing our best current side, and he doesn't fit.

Thats not to say he wont in future but he isn't now. Im one who doesn't believe he will leave at years end, and he will stick it out here.

I already have something for my good bad and ugly this week.

Under good I will have our selection policy. It is good to see we are not stuck in the muds with selection anymore. Yes it helps having fewer injuries but we appear to be going away from our scared to make too many changes to being willing to have a go at it. We are also rewarding good SANFL form more and gold cards are gone and even reliable older players are finding themselves out after far shorter succession of poor games than previous. I think this is evidence of our coaches learning and evolving and I have criticised them for things so I must also laud them for things they've done well.

Also, a bit out of sports pyschology that I can share, we seem to be doing it correctly as far as I can tell. People in general have a poor ability in their approach to risk. They often are risk seeking when they should be risk averse and risk averse when they should be risk seeking.

I have seen many posters get this wrong at draft time criticising clubs approach to seeking players like dayle garlett. Our how we should draft with penalities in place. Because of our penalities we should have gone low risk, so not Garlett and go for players with more probability of success(though likely lower ceilings of performance) which is what we did this year a lot of more solid types than boom bust types. The one club that should have gone for garlett, that could accept the high risk cos they were already supremely confident in their list was the one who did draft him, the most recent premier (evidence of that list strength) - hawthorn. So correctly played Adelaide and correctly played Hawks. This forthcoming draft we will most likely go for more boom busters.

In game terms the wrong way to do it is to go risk seeking this week. We have the higher probability of winning, so we should be risk averse, so you play your Ruttens and experienced guys and play the percentages basically. Next week, when we have lower probability of winning, it is worth taking higher risks in order to get the win. If you want to have luke thompson have a game or hartigan to have a game, next week is the week to do that and just go all or nothing, go for broke, young side, fast side, home crowd support, no travelling routine to worry about, back them in.

L.Thompson very unlucky

Unless injuries occur I suggest that's his AFL career finished. Bloody unlucky to be dropped but the crows are making a statement of who they believe their best 22 is. To fit VB and Kerridge back into that side is going to be one very big arse selection headache.
