I'm not so sure.

I think Martin is underrated, Mackay overrated.

Martin is tougher, better mark, more aggressive mindset, field kicking just as good but longer, gets more shots on goal (even when in mid/wing).

And doesn't get rag dolled and pushed off the ball with ease.

maybe we'd be top heavy, but sauce was so off last night and understandably so. But having said that, a chop out for the big fella might help him through a difficult time... we got smashed in the guts last night.

keep Lever up our sleeve for the future i reckon...

I'm not sure whether Sauce was off, or whether he just got belted by a freak.

Nic Nat didn't deserve AA the year he got it; Sauce did; but he's turned into one hell of a weapon since.

kerridge for VB and atkins for mackay. mackays defensive running was just terrible, one of the worst of many who cause them to score goals with ease

He's pivotal to their success. When he had long spell out injured they struggled.

No way. He has the talent we play him. We need to get games into him.

If he doesn't play, its not for the reason you have suggested.

Last night it would have been for both the reasons you have stated above.

My concern with sauce is that against bigger body ruckman he struggles.

Nic Nat is a freak in the jump/leap stakes so we need to make allowances.

Had the occasion not been what it was last night the commentators would have torn strips of us with regards to our centre square set up in the 2nd quarter. They touched on it but then left it alone.
But the question needs to be asked about the way we set up, too often this year the opposition get the ball out the centre square way too easily.

I'd protect Lever from scrutiny for a good month...the kid doesn't need to shoulder the load at the moment.

I'm expecting to be disappointed again. The best I'm hoping for is VB to sub. I've said it before and I doubt it's changed, our football dept doesn't have the strength to replace guys like VB or Dmac with a junior player from the 2's. If Sloane was back from injury, it'd be a chance. But a Noble led system will not allow VB to be replaced by players like Atkins.

This is where we hope the influence of woosha can be felt. No emotional ties with the players, and will surely provide the view of senior or no, under performing players must make way for those who have earned a call up.

I don't have any real info, but I reckon Woosha is seen as very interim and he's mistly there to support the coaches who are one down. Selection has future impact and I wonder whether he's going to be involved in that process.

Reading the Port board, Lobbe is likely to have minimal impact on the game, if he plays. Picking Podisadly gives us a tactical advantage.

What would Port do if we picked Podsiadly in front of Lynch? No Carlile, no Lobbe, against 3 talls.

2nd quarter he went off to be stitched after head knock from a tackle. Was head on head so hopefully not a break as we have had more than our fair share.

It looked like around his eye socket, looked like a graze to his whole eye. Maybe he smeared the blood all over, anyway he came back on. Doubt he would have come back with a broken bone.

I made a comment elsewhere about the effect of the Adelaide coach's box being largely absent last night. This was most dramatic at the centre bounces. Statistically Jacobs was breaking even at other stoppages, (way down around the ground though,) so if there was an effort to nullify Naitanui via a defensive setup at the centre bounce it would have been a very different game.

People calling for Lever to be dropped for Cheney when returns are crazy!! Firstly Lever has 7cms on Cheney which we badly need for match up issues, secondly Lever also has 7 years of youth on his side over Cheney and he's a first year player that's living up to all expectations laid upon him so far. Last but not least play both of them......... as well as Talia and Hartigan for **** sakes it's simple.

Talia - Schultz
Hartigan - Ryder
Lever - Westhoff
Cheney - Monfries

All seem like great match ups to me, Lever could get stitched up but he's 18 let him take it up with a half decent sized forward. Also considering the only "tall" defenders we had last time against Port was only Talia then Cheney and Kelly so yeah play tall down back unless it's wet.

So in saying that my ins and outs are

Outs: VB, Mackay and CEY (CEY only because my personal belief is Kerridge can play that role better)
Ins: Atkins, Lyons and Kerridge (Who cares if adding two inside mids is bad, port play slower than an 95 year old great grandmother shits and they'd give more than the first two. CEY goes back to find the footy with a full game in the 2s)

I'm not sure if we will give him the benefit of the doubt because of the circumstances but IMO cey had no where near a big enough impact as sub especially considering he was sent into most stoppages where we got destroyed in the last quarter.

We've had that happen a few times this year.

Giving up easy goals from centre bounces has been a significant problem for us.

Correct.
One of the commentators mentioned that we set up as if we would win the tap, and we weren't doing that so why aren't we setting up defensively was the question.

Realistically I think only Atkins can come in and start.

Kerridge and Otten need more time in the seconds.

Lyons and Martin could probably come in but they wouldn't of played any football in the three weeks coming into the game, if one of them do come in it will just be to replace CEY as sub.

I'm assuming Cheney is still injured.

I don't think anyone else is pushing for selection.

IN: Atkins, Lyons

Out: VB, CEY

Sub: Lyons

I am not sure we can make any changes this week barring injuries. To scruitinise anyone's performance under those circumstances is unfair imo. Don't get me wrong I am happy with some of the mentioned changes but think it's a week to give everyone a gold pass.

I tend to agree unless they pulled Knight, Atkins and Lyons aside and said the three of you are playing one of the next three games. Gives each a chance to play for Phil in an emotional game (first game, first showdown, first home game).
