Yeah I just think it would help ensure Brander stayed involved at all times. He has a lot of energy when he has the footy, and his follow up work would be effective against lumbering rucks. but reckon he could drift in and out of games if he’s playing too outside. He could still play his current role while NN rucks.

also don’t mind the Waterman idea. I think the idea of a second dedicated ruck stinks. Williams I don’t mind because he’s so agile and could be threatening forward.
Unfortunately I don't think Waterman is tall enough.

However he can step in for Gov, Brander and Allen forward and back if/when they take the ruck.

Vardy had his best game for a while last night, but honestly it wasn't enough to justify the role in the team (not Vardy per se, just a dedicated 2nd ruck).

Having Allen spending 95% time in the forward line lastnight and the resulting return suggests that the 2nd ruck role does have a place in our structure.

That's perfectly fine to compeat in ruck. Wouldn't expect a hitout to advantage just to nullify and get to work when ball in dispute

XON looked a fair way off it but I’d be happy to give him another run at it. Needs the opportunity to adjust to this level
Especially when he is getting F##K all time on ball . Just out in no man's land guarding the switch of play .

Although Jones spent time on ball today for the Beagles and his pace and agility was a point of difference and would be in our one pace senior midfield .

Keep them both and drop a tall

Out: Cole (inj), Kennedy (inj/managed)
In: Foley, Jones

B: Sheppard, Barrass, Witherden
HB: Rotham, McGovern, Duggan
C: Gaff, Kelly, Brander
HF: Waterman, Darling, Nelson
F: Langdon, Allen, Vardy
R: Naitanui, Sheed, Redden
I: Foley, O’Neill, Langdon, Jones
E: Ainsworth, Hedwards, Ledwards, Trew

Struggled to fill out the emergencies, the cupboard is getting pretty bare. Ah Chee and Winder didn’t play WAFL (the former has missed three weeks now) so I’m assuming they’re unavailable.

Strongly considered dropping Vardy, mostly because I don’t think we need a second ruckman against Stanley/Blicavs, but I couldn’t really find anyone to bring in. So he stays, it allows Allen to play permanently forward.

Jones back in for Kennedy, makes us smaller which will keep everyone happyish.

Foley a straight swap for Cole, he’s earned a chance. Duggan to stay down back, Nelson to stay in the forward line to play on Tuohy or someone. He can shift into Danger if we need a “cooler”. Or he can go down back, Duggan can move into midfield and someone like Brander can go forward if we need to throw the magnets around.

Williams had a few hit outs today ,so we could bring him in for Vardy
1 weeks break will do Jk the world of good & Bailey could also push fwd.
Archee or Jones to come in as well

So Rhino has tweet JK is touch n go next week. Surely rest him next week. Allen/JD/Waterman is enough height forward but we could also use the resting ruckman as a deep forward if we need to stretch them

Rest JK and play Vardy forward and ruck.

Bring in Foley for Cole and Trew for Kennedy.

Cats have a tall, slow defense. We can match them.

he also had 2 possessions. As crap as Vards has been, he dominated his game for the BEAGLES. I'm a huge fan of Williams and want him in but now is not the time.

Ha was literally thinking this today, who could be second ruck (not vardy). Thought process was extra running player, but no absolute guns. Waterman someone I want in the side and thought ruck could be good fit to keep his place in the team as a secondary position. Doesn't need to win the tap, just be extra mid around the stoppage, tackles well and has a reasonable tank, also stronger body. Worth a try IMO.

I like that team just one more change get rid of Langdon, he's a liability.

Some of muddys kicks inside 50, keep him in as anything, i feel like he had some great set ups. Also sorry if that knickname is BS, picked it up from mum and her old knickname of his old man. Muddy waters, bit of mongrel about it.

I don’t like this dropping blokes after one week. Give them a chance and a bit of consistency for a couple of weeks at least. For that reason I wouldn’t have dropped Langdon or O’Neill even if there was someone to replace them.

Amazing that Vardy has his best game in the ruck in ages but people dont or refuse to see it.

Sure he didnt get massive posessions but his ruck work was decent and created several clean clearances.

But people get stuck in their mindsets.

Will be amazed if Vardy doesnt play at his old ground next week.
If we’re hanging onto him because of a couple of nice taps then I’d rather just tell Ah Chee to take some centre bounces and try to belt it forward. Even moreso against Geelong.

Vardy had an alright game but he’s just a liability the majority of the time and his rucking isn’t really good enough to outweigh his complete lack of presence around the ground.

Edwards or Ah Chee would provide a similar output in the ruck imo but with the added bonus of giving us other options around the ground. Vardy has nowhere to go after rucking. Our forward line is already stacked so he pretty much needs to be rotating off the bench with Nic. Edwards on the other hand can go back to give Gov/Barrass a breather and Ah Chee can go anywhere it suits. It’s more about the versatility it provides than just potting Vardy for the sake of it. We’d look a much better side without having to carry certain players for one specific role.

Ah Chee hasn’t played at any level for the last three weeks, let’s parachute him into the AFL side to play backup ruck. He hasn’t recorded an AFL hitout since they banned the third man up but I’m sure it’ll come naturally to him.

Dropping Cripps?

Why does it have to be 1 player?

We seem to have 2 issues. Firstly that Nic can only get to about 70% TOG and secondly that our backup ruck struggles for impact (partially as they get limited game time).

Ditch the backup ruck role, and fill it from existing players. Maybe Waterman takes the centre bounce then rolls back and Gov goes into the ruck for 5 mins, maybe darling and Allen do a little also. Brander as well.

I get wanting to protect them at the CBD but outside of that the ruck contest is less likely to cause injury (and tbf some of those guys will win their share of hitouts too).

Allows us to play an extra small/runner which we are crying out for.

Vardy is a ruck / forward remember. But we just dont need the forward minutes from him with JK, Darling and Oscar......plus Waterman, Brander.......

If JK is rested with that ankle Vardy gets more forward minutes, at a ground he played and trained at for years.
The other option is Harry. Cats will play Hawkins and Cameron so Harry as a rotation back and rucking is also a distinct possiblitity.

JK out Harry in.

If we want go smaller (which Ive been hoping for)

JK, Vardy out Harry and J Jones in.

Foley covers Cole (inj)
