“Tied to norths finishing position next year” - no information about that.

Even the trade radio people didn’t know, to be fair they don’t know much.
After their selections next year:

"The extra draft picks, which will be placed after the Roos’ existing selections next year, will be forfeited if they are not traded this year."

Errr, I would say we did seriously contend this year...very seriously. We were knocked out by a 6 point loss and a 1 point loss to the Grand Finalists. But for some "unhelpful" umpiring we could have quite seriously been premiers.

Unless we sure up certain areas. You can not expect the same outcome as last season. That’s what the Football Department are now working on.

Fly made a point of it all year. We need mids and KPP to help our cause. The boys were exemplary, but help is needed.

Just need to make sure that there is a plan B.

Wardlaw and Ashcroft are certainties.

Pick 3 isn’t. And that’s when it becomes a, was it all worth it question.

Yeah a Tsatas, Sheezle, Mackenzie, Busslinger, Clark plan B is then on the cards. Seems ok. But not the same. The KPP is the golden egg.

But I like the thought. Worth the go.

Agree with any of your plan B’s. I reckon the real worry is GWS whether they go best mid on pick 3 or Camdan . They probably go best mid at 3 and hope Mackenzie slides To pick 12

You nong.:p

I don’t think it matters, already pencilled in for another spoon of the wooden variety.

Damnnnn, did not see that article. I read this: AFL 2022: Revealed: North Melbourne Kangaroos’ draft assistance package

Wish I could have started the Parish rumour now. 😂😭

You are the one asserting he would make the difference. He was poor in that close GF and he was beaten by a couple of reject ruckmen. And your assertion we don't make the prelim and Gf without him looks very flimsy given our performance this year without him.
If you don't think Grundy's performances in both 2018 and 2019 seasons were major contributors to making the PF and GF's in the respective years, then sadly your memory is shot. He was after all and AA in both years.

Why do you think Simpson played a 2 Ruck strategy to counter Grundy if he was no threat?

The lazy narrative around 2018 GF and 2019 PF is wholly untenable, and its continuned repetition adds nothing to its veracity.

Geelongs ratagolia looking for more game time at another club! He’s 24 years old (fits our age demographic) and he’s experienced. Could fill a hole anywhere on our list. I’d love to have him around our clearances. I’d rather have him then cox in the team. Very athletic too. Straight swap with Henry maybe or we have to add a pick
Thoughts!!!!!!!!!

I could flip your argument back on its head by saying if you think our success that year was solely based on Grundy's form and not the transformation of our forward set up and ball movement you are kidding yourself.
We played the best footy I've seen in a decade without Grundy . He is a good player and he will have good days for Melbourne but I think Nathan Buckley is right when he says the value of ruckman these days is far less than it was

Does anybody else think it’s crazy we aren’t/didn’t pursue Hopper more aggressively? He’s pretty much exactly what we need in the midfield at the moment and a much better fit for us than Mitchell (albeit more expensive). He was brilliant in GWS’s grand final year and again in 2021. He’s a clearance beast when he’s on, bursts from stoppages and is really tidy by hand and foot. He actually offers a different dynamic to Adams such that they could easily both play in the same team; not sure the same could be said of Adams and Mitchell.
Injury cloud - with 2 reco's one of which wenrt badly apparently.
And not sure a 7 year deals makes sense.

If Maynard had been paid the free kick and we’d won in 2018, would you have attributed the win to the influence of Grundy?
Obviously not so why blame him for the loss.

We don’t make the GF or PF in those years without Grundy - it’s that simple.
That was then. Has had some very ordinary years since then, and is now 29 and injured.
