Don’t know if someone can post this but sounds pretty positive for Yeo re-signing.

It’s from todays press conference

There’s also a bit here from Yeo’s manager saying that talks were paused for a bit to allow Pyke and Matthew Clarke to get settled in but that Yeo was keen to stay

Sheed is an excellent finger pointer, really sets the standard as far as I’m concerned.
Watching him play last week made me wonder if the finger pointing is at the point of being an involuntary action, like a tic. Just does it without even realising.

Victoria finally realising the AFL has a big problem on their hands…too busy to notice the issues in SA & WA because they’re so busy pumping $$$ into the northern academies

Sydney's (QBE) and Brisbane's (Ausenco) academies are funded by naming right sponsors.

Yes, which is outside of your soft cap.

Now this is specifically an issue here in WA where the WAFC still have control over WA footy as well as hold both WA AFL club licences certain 'luxuries' that other clubs enjoy, do not apply to us.

To cut what is a very, very, very long winded and back and forth story the AFL want control over every single club licence as well as control over footy in each state all the way from auskick to AFL level.

In reality whilst the AFL only directly owns 5 club licences, it holds control over all bar the Dockers and WCE licences. The AFL is adamant about wanting control over all levels of football in all states including club licences.

So with the WAFC being self serving to it's board and other interests as opposed to the WAFL, development and almost everything else you can think of being mismanaged, whilst the AFL holds the WA clubs over a barrel, to put it lightly the club is ****ed and cops what it cops and can do very little about it.

And both clubs are funded by the AFL so indirectly so are their academies

But guys, you have to understand, Brisbane has only been around since … checks notes … 1987. And, does everyone remember that one time when they couldn’t keep their young players and then had to trade their Captain cause he was a douchebag.

So, as you can see, it really is important you understand, Brisbane pays for its own special privileges Academy. Ah, heck it, why even bother. The West Coast bigfooty mob will never understand.

Kids pay to participate tn the Sydney academy - they line up to be in and pay a fee that more than covers costs. Sydney make a good profit from it while engaging with families.
Yeah, costs to be in our academy as well. No idea what the junior scene is like in Sydney, but a lot of the QAFL clubs have resented our academy taking their best kids for meaningless games. Meaningless to them is any game that's not a National Championship game. Those same QAFL clubs have accused our academy as just being a money generating exercise.

Isaac Cumming is one the club is interested in

Collingwood's prizemoney is included in those figures.
Sure but that's only $1.2M afaik and doesn't explain the other two.

Three of the biggest clubs and $5M more than West Coast. Maybe balance sheet shenanigans but if those figures are real, that's a bizarre discrepancy.

I know we’re keen on Perryman but where’s your mail on Isaac coming from?

It would be good to know what band 2 money looks like this year. They are both unrestricted FAs but if we could try and sneak into the absolute bare minimum of band 2 money (which might well be what it takes to get them across) and get GWS 2 x pick 19s then they might be keen to assist in facilitating that. Would also be very worthwhile establishing a good trade relationship with them.

Surely Buss and Cumming are the 2 top priorities, the rest are optional. They fill the 2 roles we need most imo.
Get Cumming in and give him full license to do what he wants with the ball from half back.

Perryman is nice but at the end of the day, hes a mid/defender who plays either a role similar to Cole, or a defensive mid. Not entirely needed imo

Herald Sun article on Bailey Smith trade options are reporting recruiters saying the top 12 prospects this year are very even. Three suitors for Smith in Hawks Pies and Cats. Only Hawks likely to have the currency this year placing them as favourites. Suggestions that Hawks might split pick 2 if that is where they finish and offer a top 10 to Dogs

Freo holding 3 x R1 picks look like all 3 of them will be after “desirable dozen” as Lombard and Ashcroft will mean the top end is only 10 available in open draft. Will they want to bundle up 2 of them to move up the board?

That (unfortunately) adds greater value to the Suns 2 R1 picks (own and Dogs currently both in single digits). Suns likely to trade out both first rounders to get multiple picks in 2025 like they did last year. Meanwhile have points for Lombard

Question. Would you offer our F1 for the Suns better pick this year plus one of their R2 picks? Take to the draft 3-4, 7-8, 24 and another in the 30’s and then keep our R4 as a possible late pick

Go to draft with
3-4 Draper or Smith
7-8 Travaglia or Trainor
23-24 to Dogs for Busslinger trade
30 best fit
R4 Champion as nga or speculative hoping for another Long
FA of Perryman or Cumming

I am aware this year’s WA crop is rubbish while 2025 looks normal again but it looks like Sam is wrong about us only wanting WA talent and scared to pick Vics

Of course what rule changes will the AFL make with F/S and academy matching?

I guess it depends how many players we target this off season. If there is a couple of free agents id keep the picks in next year, if its 1 free agent + buss it might be worth considering, maybe F1 for a R1 + F2 or something, keeping some presence in next years draft. We can only delist so many guys at once to make spots on the list.
I wouldnt want to completely leave a draft with a bunch of WA kids either
